NLSIU administration has failed. DU Law has been ranked by Times Higher Education in 301+ onwards category. NLSIU rests upon Ventaka Rao’s era laurels of NIRF rankings.
(1) If you are absolutely confident of your choice to pursue the legal profession then I will suggest that you take admission in an NLU that you consider the best in relation with what your rank allows you to and then prepare for next year’s CLAT. There is something very unfortunate, in my view, about young, bright students like you staying at home only to prepare for a particular examination. As I said, if you have the absolute confidence in pursuing law, then you will be able to juggle both a first-year in an NLU and also prepare for the next CLAT without compromising either. Now after all that, even if you do not achieve what you want next year, you will have still improved your discipline and versatility while starting a promising second-year at your NLU with the company of new friends and teachers.
(2) If you are excited by law but also open to other avenues then you should think of your undergraduate education as a foundation where you will achieve the knowledge and skills to develop new professional interests. In that sense, the B.A. (Hons.) programme at NLSIU does look promising. At the end of the programme, you can still pursue law if you are willing but it is also possible that you will have discovered a broader set of opportunities that are just as exciting, if not more, than law. NLSIU, being its own authority, has, in theory at least, greater autonomy in creating an intellectual environment where you can do B.A. and develop actual research capacity. In that sense, at the end of your three years, you will eligible for both further postgraduate education in India (law or otherwise) and abroad (if that suits your mood, of course). At the same time, the B.A. (Hons.) is new and thus it is also reasonable to have doubts over how it may turn out. But on the whole, I personally do find it a promising programme. NLSIU is organising a campus visit in this regard on 08.02.2025 though I do not know if you applied for it. As for the admission process, my own purely personal experience is that it is relatively easier to secure admission in a newly-begun programme simply because not everyone may know about it or may not be sure of its eventual prospects.
Tds of 12L is 1.2L (10% calculation)
12-1.2 = 10.8L
10.8L ÷ 12 = 90K per month
2. No time like the present.
3. Most definitely, unless you have the best interview in the history of interviews. They just pay you as per your year.
Just one last thing its jumping ship, not jumping ships.
Also, what all they asked in interview and where is the job location in Mumbai?
Apart from the Tier 1 law firms, which other firms are paying comparable salaries to its PAs in the disputes space?
A practice like CM always hires. I have witnessed partners hiring associates with no experience in CM, so even if anyone has decent internship/s in CM, you will get hired at the EOD. DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE GIVING YOU THIS SYSTEM BULLSHIT.
Capital Markets ALWAYS hires.
Next is judiciary - becoming a magistrate and then district judge in your state.
Then you have legal officer posts in many PSUs. Some of them use CLAT PG scores and others gave their own recruitment process.

Going to be 17.8L now, one year late but still there
Add Bill share A1 onwards and it's a killer deal
So far beyond repair,
That you would greet each overture with curling lip?
Building networks involves meeting new people, finding common interests, and recognizing each other's value. You can do that in a library, a conference, a Moot Court, in a restaurant, on the metro, in a plane, on social media.. there are as many avenues of networking as there are people and activities around you.

If you need someone from here who has done their studies in law to talk to your parents, please feel free to make that request. This nonsense cannot be allowed to continue any further. All the best. We are with you.
Yet despite all that, there is an element of luck that comes into play. Questions with subjects entirely unfamiliar to you may still come up. And the timespan of the written test does not provide you the luxury to rest for more than a few minutes before you try to change your strategy. You have to simply start from anywhere in the paper and anyhow.
Now add in the cost and duration of NLSIU’s admission process and it can be extremely frustrating for even the most promising candidates. It is also worth reflecting that they ask you to upload a research proposal at the stage of applying itself and then use the written test to short-list which makes very little sense given that only 125 people even applied in 2024 for Ph.D. admission at NLSIU. Having Junior Research Fellowship in Law and other social science disciplines does not exempt you from the written test either.
Can NLSIU improve their admission process? Yes. But that is something beyond our control here. In this respect, even NLSIU is not very different in its bureaucratic inertia than other universities in India. To repeat after Henry, “And there was nothing we could do about it.”
I mean this kindly: develop your skills, and forget about these baseless avenues. It will only serve you well, I promise.

Better do an AIGP certification than this.
LLM from US along with NY Bar is some kind of a global passport allowing you access to serious recruiters of foreign law firms in US/London/UAE/HK/Singapore and of in-house MNCs.
Notwithstanding the above, LLM from abroad gives you wider perspective and memories of a lifetime. So, go for it.
