A NLU with a seamless and meritorious admission process, small batches and brilliant profs like DYC. NLUD is the place to be for legal education in India, and I think this speaks to the broader success of the NLU brand too. I wonder why he chose NLUD specifically over the numerous other offers he may have gotten. Regardless this makes the decision between NLUD and NLS far far simpler

SAM and CAM people do get it. JSA i don't honestly know. Trilegal is difficult to get and even difficult to crack. KCO is known as the most difficult lateral move if you do not come from partners college or not homegrown KCO talent. They do not fancy outside laterals as others specially as much as SCAM

NLU kid with some prior experience. Looking for AORs who offer on-site and/or virtual internships where I can actually learn a thing or two. Any office that reimburses travel expenses would be great.

This might be wishful thinking but if I get a good place and they agree to give me long term internships that I could balance with my NLU studies, I’d prefer that.

Would not recommend unless you are from a wealthy family and giving out 10 lacs a month is not an issue. With recession creeping in and the advent of AI in the legal field you never known how the job prospects are especially after 5 yrs down the line. Plus it's definitely not worth it, I understand the college is great but debt is a worse sin to accompany you during the initial years of your career. Specially when there's no job security and the market with unprecedented changes

Do you realise the dent of spending more than 42 lacs for a law degree, after calculating the interest it will be about 70 lacs (roughly) after your graduation.

You would have no other choice but to do corporate, any other profession would not allow you to repay this loan.

You may feel that you will do well in college BUT what if you just could not? And godforbid by the time you graduate there aren't just enough high-paying jobs?

Committing to such a loan would burn more bridges then creating. Hence, I would strongly suggest, settle for a lower NLU. NUALS has got a Rhoades scholar, RMLNLU rocks the public service examinations, NLUO has performed really well in recent years, CNLU also has a good record in judicial services examination, MNLU-N has got a freaking course for judiciary. Explore your options wisely, you can also consider taking a partial drop while taking admission where you can and re-attempt next year, this might save you 50 lacs. Now as I am going to start as an associate soon, I understand that I'll have to send emails to clients on a daily basis, engage in strategic discussions, draft technical documents, etc. Tho, I think I am decent with the work, however, I have a big fear in my find that due to poor english skills - I'll not be able to grow in this field. Indeed, currently interning with the M&A team of a tier-1 law firm from a top private college, but utterly disappointed with M&A as a practice. The charm and aura of Disputes are unmatchable. It brings a sense of accomplishment and fulfilment. M&A can give you money, cater to your greed, but not satisfaction. Even if disputes require hardwork but ready to take it atleast will do it with my heart not force the shit out of me.

If anyone can help - would there be an experience cut if I move from a boutique policy firm to a TMT team of a tier 1 law firm? Has anyone made that move? I have 3 year PQE in tech policy. I am okay with an experience cut, but I would not want my whole experience to be discounted. Thank god bhai you took the right path. NLUs he lena whichever choose. 2 years down the line you will laugh looking back that you were comparing nliu with Christ hahaha. Ask any sane person in Christ itself he will not think for a second before going to nliu. People die for this shit. Don't ever make mistakes of convenience and loan and all that. Comfort zone ke bahar aao you will see how many kids in nliu are on student loan but they know that they put their money on the right place. You can do freelancing and stuff to manage your expenses. Can anyone tell how can i improve my contract drafting skills and what other skills are important for getting internship, which i can later on convert into retainership and then a PPO.

Reality: It is never possible to have a 100% placement rate. That's just never possible. So many assumptions would have to be made, so much would have to be perfect: job market would have to be good, the kids would all have to have good CVs, everyone would have to have (reasonably) good marks (at least) (which in itself would be a red flag, as it might indicate compromised academic standards). On top of that, there is one more factor: the variability. In various countries, this plays out in various ways. In India, it is how many students in a batch actually register with the RCC (as opposed to doing something on their own), while in England, for example, the government collects data about what they are doing from university graduates a few months after they have graduated from their course, to ask them about career destinations - so there, it's a question of what is the response rate among a batch at a particular institution to what is called the Graduate Outcomes Survey. The point I am making is simply this: those numbers just never show you the full picture. I am sorry, but we just don't live in a perfect world. So there might actually be something wrong with those numbers you might have heard about or read.

Therefore, the question you want to ask yourself is: how high is that placement rate and how strong an indication is it of what happens at a particular university? For example, out of a batch of 120, if 110 register with the RCC and 100 get jobs, then you have something worthwhile to go on. That's because after that, the only question that remains to be asked is: what happened to the balance number of students who didn't register with the RCC? (Forget about those 10 who didn't get a job through it, they would, eventually, at some point, most likely.) Don't assume, also, that non-registration with an RCC is an indication of student quality or something. In many such cases, such people would have gone on to undertake further study at the master's level abroad, or to undertake vacation schemes and training contracts at foreign law firms etc (obviously, in Jindal, it is a different story I think, whereby you have to obtain a certain batch rank/marks to even be eligible to register for the RCC, but that's not necessarily the case at most places).

Main issue with yezdi is that they keep trying to copy, rather than just doing something original, yezdi adventure copies lot of stuff from Himalayan and still manages to be underwhelming in terms of power and handling. Same with roadster. Yezdi has tried to make a comeback recently with reducing price and improving service to its vehicles, let's see how it goes. Lastly they make amazing ADVs yes but they aren't doing much to seperate themselves from their competitors.

the problem would occur if you do not get a law firm job after the 5 years at NUJS, although RCC touts 100% placement what they (and most of their peers in other unis) fail to mention is that this is based on the number of candidates who have opted for placement (whichi s about 60%) and even then only a quarter (which is about 20-15% of total batch strength) get placed in tier 1. If you are able to get yourself within the top 20% of the batch you have a decent shot at a tier 1 job, however, I would suggest its better to enrol into bsc llb and not take loan (you would have the same chance).

Chill. Never going to happen, two reasons:.

- NLUs are state universities. Do the NLUs have the courage to get rid of the domicile quotas?
- What do NLUs do that is of 'national' importance? Even the respective states don't care about NLUs.

The interesting thing is that the NLU-Bhakhts look down upon any institution that receives the INI status, but deep down yearn for the same.

Boss, I'm still a student so take anything i say with half a grain of salt. But from how you've put it, you want someone to tell you that you should go, not because you genuinely feel like it. From what I've seen of this profession, i don't think you should switch just yet, largely because of the 'vice-versa'. That's rare to find in this field.

I am in a similar position. I don’t even want to relocate. Just that I am so done with my Tier 1 firm and I don’t like the rest of the Tier 1 firms that are currently around. I find these Tier 2 firms more appealing and not because I want to work less. But no one seems to get it and they feel I want to shift I am being thrown out or something from my current firm.

I did not do anything in my law school, no decent internships, no moots, no ADRs, no batch rank, no publications, but now I don't know why I feel fascinated towards law and want to make it big. Since I lack experience in both corporate field as well as litigation sector, I don't know which side I should start my career with. I have interned with GC team at two T2/T3 law firms, so I have some basic understanding of Company law. So, my question here is, leave alone opportunities at the current moment, is it too late for me to become a good lawyer? and how should I approach the profession now?

I’ve been working at my firm for a while now, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that no matter how well I perform, I’m only given a narrow range of work. My senior clearly has a favorite, and he feels like he doesn’t believe women can handle certain kinds of tasks — so I’m consistently left out of important assignments.

Why will they not sue - a law firm Partner (especially the busy ones) may not have the time to sue freshers for breaking an offer letter (when no salary has been paid and "training" has yet to commence). If they do, imagine the bad public relations. Also, from your perspective, if they do, I think it would be evidence that it was not the correct firm to join.

Why can they sue - A hurt ego can cause anyone to do anything.

I am sure you have many friends in litigation who can help you if such a ridiculous litigation materialises.
