So, I am a dropper, passed 12th 3+ years ago, from WB state board. Then I joined a local college but didn't attend at all, no exam and since I didn't do one semester they said they can't issue character certificate when I left (only issued to passed out students). They provided migration and mentioned there I didn't attend, that was 2+ years ago too.

So, I have my 10th, 12th marksheets, certificates and migration from college...all except the character certificate. Since its been so long school won't issue either (its govt school).

So, will this cause a problem and how can I solve? Most probably I will be getting NUJS, I looked at their instructions which said to upload scanned copy of character certificate and then during physical verification also original will be needed.

The Haveri Sessions Court recently granted bail to seven primary accused: Aftab Chandanakatti, Madar Saab Mandakki, Samiwulla Lalanavar, Mohammad Sadiq Agasimani, Shoib Mulla, Tausip Choti, and Riyaz Savikeri. All had been held in judicial custody for several months following their arrest in connection with the gang rape of the 26-year-old woman.

The survivor, who belongs to a minority community and was reportedly in a long-term relationship with a 40-year-old Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) driver, had checked into a private hotel in Hanagal on January 8, 2024. The case originally began as an instance of moral policing. Local police had initially registered it as such, given that the survivor and her partner were an interfaith couple staying in a private hotel room. As a HNLU student, the LLM students are not taken very seriously. They cant even participate as committee members in most initiatives (weird thing i know). And there’s barely any PHD scholars here either.

I have heard one of the IPR faculties basically had students add the faculties names as co-authors to their publications without doing any work lol. You’re better off doing your LLM elsewhere honestly.

Biggest tragedy of NLS Bangalore is when it becomes a day boarding college and students stay outside campus and come to attend classes for few hours and leave.

This is not what Professor Menon envisioned nor expected from India’s first and most prestigious NLU. Ask any NLS alumni and their memories and learning must be their memories of campus when they lived, ate and played together and also studied.

The residential university’s character is lost when you fail to build enough housing for students and admit them for money and ask them to stay with their parents or in exploitative PG accommodations.

Don’t reduce NLS to a local degree college of Bangalore University.

Given that foreign students pay high fees and fund Harvard significantly, this is literally an example of go woke go broke. Also, just like JNU, Harvard has a woke social sciences side and a non-woke STEM/MBA side. I think you will see a sharp division where the latter will put pressure on the former to comply.

My only comment here is that why should the STEM departments suffer because of the toxic wokeism of the humanities departments? Literally all the Hamas fanboys and fangirls are with departments like sociology, history, literature, public policy, etc. Has anyone from Harvard Business School or Harvard Medical School been involved? I make this observation merely to point out how good proof this is of your point that there are people who make noise all the time. So the OP shouldn't be worried by that.

Another comment has made some excellent points, but focusses on your field of interest specifically. That comment is right that academia is one of your best options, considering your field of interest. But the story doesn't end there, you will need to understand some home truths about how academic recruitment works outside India.

The concept of people getting into university teaching prior to a PhD and doing a PhD as a sort of top-up degree for promotion purposes is not the way it works outside India. They don't have no UGCNET etc. The PhD is the basic degree you need to even get started on the academic ladder. In other words, a PhD is an essential requirement for full time academic positions with the scope for promotion, even very juniour ones. Therefore, unless you are ready to put in the years of study required to get both an LLM and a PhD, your ambitions would be very hard to fulfil. True, in markets like the UK, you would still find some professors with extremely good research track records without PhDs. But if you take the extra second to notice things about them other than the fact that they haven't gotten a PhD, you will notice something else: that they are usually old enough that they would have entered the academic market in the 1970's or 80's, when academic recruitment in the UK without a doctorate was possible. It is so vanishingly rare now - speaking from personal experience, as one working to get into the UK academic market - that you should pretty much treat it as impossible.

My advice would be to treat Singapore and the U.S. in the same way. Let's just say that Singapore is likely, because of the ranking of its unis, to operate in a way similar to the British. As for the U.S.? We can begin by chuckling gently at the mere thought of any sort of relaxation of standards there. They are extraordinarily insular as it is. The UK/Singapore concept of being able to get into their academic market with a foreign qualifying law degree and U.S. postgraduate law degrees is, in any case, not there. You tend to need an American JD anyway for that (there might be a few people who got in without a JD, but those are exceptions that prove the rule). Usually, American law professors have a PhD in a non-law subject (e.g., philosophy), followed by a JD.

To start with, there is never a vacancy in tier-1 law firms, more so in Khaitan. They would much rather facilitate an internal shift than hire someone new even if there is a vacancy. They would much rather hire laterals if there’s a vacancy. As a fresher or law student looking to get hired, your chances of being offered a PPO are slim to none. Focus on getting the work done instead of trying to figure out on LI if there’s a vacancy. If you’re for the big leagues, vacancy nahi bhi hogi toh aapke liye bana di jaayegi.

While idk about CDS (know you don’t wanna know about JAG), but saw a guys profile from DSK, who cleared the SSB and was recommended. (Idk if you know but the SSB interview is India’s/ one the worlds most toughest interview/ difficult procedure so read up on it)

If you cleared the SSB, you gotta be special- which all our armed forces offers are. The guy I talk about was nice and just sweet in general when I was interning. Plays quite a few sports well, was cute, smart, and seemed to be good at his work too.

Anyway, do end up trying for it, but know clearing the CDS is nothing, if you can’t clear the SSB and be medically fit…

Yes. I have cleared it, yet didn't join, as I got into JAG. The main problem with CDS is that due to the year of our graduation, we would be in the higher category of older aspirants. So even if you're selected, you'd be in a higher aged group, and this will effect your future promotions especially in infantry, armoured and arty. We cannot join ordnance, engineers or signals,.since that requires a base in science. Also, majority people within the forces will try and push you to join JAG after giving CDS because of your law background. FYI, JAG can be joined by non-lawyers, if you have 85+ in military law in courses, which is very easy for us law students. So the best bet is to join JAG as first priority, if not, crack cds in your first attempt and try to get into a reputed infantry unit and immediately join a SF units, that's also very much age and physical fitness dependent. Also, JAG doesn't involve a lot of legal studies that we did in our graduation. It completely depends on military law, which would be the army act and a few civil, criminal and constitutional provisions. So it's not a complete legal practice like litigation. All the best !

The one extra piece of unsolicited advise I will give you is to have extremely thick skin and look at the substance of the criticism and how it relates to your work. If it is all personal (which it can be) then ignore it and if it has an element of critique about your work focus on just that. Eventually seeing someone unflappable under pressure is what will make your reputation for you. Another thing is that AZB'ites tend to be nicer to you after you have spent a few (about 6) years in the firm since you are then an insider. Once you become an insider you should have more occasional reprimands (mostly around appraisal time).

I will also encourage you to not carry that culture through to the people you work with since most associates get carried away and take pride in emulating those that were most severe on them. Differentiating yourself and endearing yourself to many at the firm will make your rise faster.

AJ is in the process of taking an account of the matters/ files/clients referred to RD which are being retained by the firm. This is an open information and known to all in the firm.
