How accurate is this study ? And can such studies be used as arguments in writs against issues such as this
This is my plan, for each workout, which I do 4 days a week: 15 mins of warmup, 15 mins of back workout, 15 mins of chest workout, 15 mins of leg workout. Be creative, search online for routines which are manageable. Have been doing this consistently for the past 1.5 year with medium success (which I am satisfied with). Saturday and Sunday workouts I never miss. That is 50% of the weekly target achieved. I get creative and squeeze in my workouts the remaining two days in a week. Always follow up my workouts with a protein shake. I don't be a bitch about spending on money on a good whey protein. I spend 10k a month on my protein, including eggs, chicken breast etc.
I am proud of my arms, and shoulders, and my legs which are no longer chicken legs. And I do 10 mins of lower body stretching before bed every night, which has allowed me to completely defeat my sciatica and alleviate 100% of the pain from my herniated disk.
But what all of the above means is, that I rarely drink alcohol (it is impossible for me to workout the next day after working out), prioritize my workout over social engagements, and generally never eat crap like chips and all the random packaged stuff.
Not having time after a law firm job to go anywhere outside for my workout, and also being told my doctor to either quit the profession or get fit, forced me to re-think my priorities in life and buy the above said mini-stand. Best investment of my life so far.
It is possible to be fit and also a law firm lawyer. You just need to prioritize. Indians never prioritize their mental and physical health over other aspects of their lives.
What really slows down the typing is distraction and breaks. So see if you can jot down the broad points of what you want to type before you type.
Settle for less, or regret forever.
Deets - Capital Markets, Mumbai office
Should I join such a firm's office which has only senior associates and management keeps visiting but is based in another city.
Give pros and cons
Moderator- Post this. These selfish people need to be called out for what they are. Ungrateful opportunists. Leeches.
What is the pay for a person with 3-4 PQE?
I see a bright future for young corporate lawyers, who are bright enough to peek into the future and word hard. Law firms are not the easiest places to be, but you can find your place if you look in the right places. The economy is booming, more foreign investors are coming in, and more and more independent corporate lawyers are finding it easier to set up their own shop. You are on the right track - in terms of realising the importance of being a specialised lawyer and having the skillset to go independent. Keep at it, keep ahead of the curve, and create your own niche. In any area of business, specialised products and services find it easiest to sustain and have lesser existential threats from bigger players.
Observation 2: I have used Legally India for a while now, and yet, I cannot come up with the kind of childish tripe that is a regular feature of this website.
And of course - please avoid typing with 2 fingers. People who do that look silly - but caveat lector - some people go through their entire lawyers lives just typing with 2 fingers, and manage just fine.
Corporate- NLUO
Previously, HNLU would have ranked over NLUO on corporate side. But HNLU now has compulsory mooting (even for BA subjects like political science, economics) plus assignments- so you are all occupied during a sem. Literally, no time for anything else. And that also makes interning during an ongoing sem difficult. Trust me, you will not want to make memorials for 6 subjects then oral argument and then in the next 15 days make projects. As you get free, end terms come over.
Plus, NLUO outranks HNLU on day zero placement statistics. The placements are nearly double at NLUO for last 3 years.
I would have said HNLU over NLUO but considering HNLU has worsened the academic structure by incoporating compulsory mooting (even for BA Subjects like Polictical science and economics) and assignments running all over the semester- NLUO now ranks far better in corp perspective.
50% lawyer girls marry someone from college
15% lawyer girls marry someone from work
15% lawyer girls marry someone from outside, like a social acquaintance or someone from a dating app
10% lawyer girls go in for an arranged marriage
10% lawyer girls stay single lifelong
So odds reduce if you don’t meet someone in uni.
I think at PQE 0 / Internships - having reliable and fast typing skills gives a good advantage. When I feel my speed is lacking, I practice on 10fastfingers or some similar sites.
It is an easy skill where the only cost is practice and repetition - I don't think any innate skills or talents are needed. So it is a good skill to have.
Currently my peak is 138 wpm on monkeytype :)
Taking typing class is not required, but you should learn by yourself to type faster. Typing fast has its perks
1. The HR: She barely had a BA degree and wasn't even qualified to become an HR, but she was the most controlling, ▮▮▮, and micromanaging person ever born. She used to scold the associates like a school teacher for non-sensical things. We were not even allowed to take our food orders without her permission. Even when associates were discussing something silently, she used to shout " speak loudly, i want to listen" (plus there were cameras with microphones on top of our heads, and the partner used to listen to our full day conversations on his way back home). We couldn't leave the office without her permission, no matter what time we are leaving. Even when she used to be on leaves, we were supposed to text her to take her permission for going home post work. She used to control our smoke breaks, taking print outs for work purpose, our lunch time, and basically everything.
2. Office culture: Micromanagement, interference in personal lives, working hours (12-14 hrs everyday), 6 days WFO, can't even go for 5 min walks, washing our own plates, sometimes they even made my female associates make coffee for the clients, monitoring phone screens of associates through zoom in camera, etc.
3. They purchased a new office and for around 2 months they made the associates do all the construction work post office and on Sundays (yes, you heard it right). I refused to volunteer and maybe that's the reason they let got of me.
This is just a small picture of the firm, as I was there for only for 4-5 months. I hope my 3 fellow colleagues from that time (who went through all of this with me) are at a better place now.
Of course, if the only way you and your pals can get women to marry you is to scare them by saying they can't have children any other way then you do you.
But power-partner babes, ignore these idiots. The world is your oyster.
When you put all the facts together.
I can hire and pay men to do the things I need done. A driver. A security guard. A pick me up artist. I have options.
Same time I can spend time with my girl gang and I know that lot envies me as I travel the world and get accolades.
Do i feel empty inside? No. But but my married friends sure do.
Its protecting their turf in the name of protecting traditions.
It challenges their bored husbands and their worldview.
We have no clue who is in the wrong but we know who is spending hours plotting.
There have been attacks on this very platform on many individuals in this profession.
I think this lays bare what goes into some of the obvious malicious attempt to discredit some.
If you need a good answer - if its unbearable - walk out. If it crosses a line - formally complain.
Keep it simple. You're not doing anyone any favours with seeking help solve your grudges.
This line of thinking was what gave gundas business. You're not better if you go through.
Men are quite easy btw, if you need a quick fix, even the taken ones will agree in a heartbeat. You just need to make a move.
PS: if a PPO is your goal, make sure that the team is looking to hire from your batch otherwise it would a waste of time.
Now, Aravind Venugopal will fill his shoes?
Would be grateful for any leads . Are there any firms (Tier 1, 2 or even boutique ) still hiring for the graduating batch of 2025 ?
At the outset, I request you to please be kind to me here. I am not an LI user and this is my first time asking for help. I grew up in a modest home, with my dad on government payroll that got divided between my fees, ration, EMI and sending half of it back to his home town to ailing parents - so I always grew up with slightly less than what I needed and not what I wanted.
Worked my way up to a t2 law school and got placed in a firm offering a t1 salary. I will be moving to Bangalore next month to start.
I want to understand how to manage my finances. What are my best investment options - my brother is big on stock market and I am not but since he understands the risks and everything, I am planning to send 10% of my salary to him to invest in the market. 20% I am planning to put in SIPs. 5% in digital gold. Should I consider mutual funds? I don't have a lot of knowledge here on. Trying to do my research, but someone having gone along the similar lines can help please?
I want to keep some money vacant for myself. Buy some good quality formal clothes and not rely on street thrifting for once, buy a good laptop/ ipad, reserve money for takeouts and get online OTT subscriptions to help destress. Would it be a bad idea to save up for myself?
As I am writing this, I understand the best person to ask would be my dad - as I am here because of his impeccable financial management, but he also never kept anything to himself, and I am not sure if that's how I want to live.
A little help, or even some direction towards useful resources will help. Thanks!

- which city it is (eg tier 1 metro like Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru vs tier 2 metro like Chennai or Pune or Ahmedabad or Kolkata or Hyderabad)
- the rent you pay
- the car you drive
- your fuel costs
- Uber usage
- your vacation expenses
- your dining expenses
- your wardrobe expenses
- whether you have a maid and driver
- gym membership
- golf/tennis/padel/pickleball club memberships
- Internet and OTT subscriptions
Can you live below 1.5 lakhs a month as expenses? Sure, even in Mumbai. But your quality of life will be basic middle class.
My expenses in a tier 2 metro are around 1.8 lakhs a month. I pay no rent and drive the cheapest car for a short distance to office. My quality of life is pretty good, because this leaves me with more to spend on other heads.
mods, pls bump.
Second, I escalated to the partner. Gave supporting evidence. Including twitter thread from someone who had quit and basically mentions everything this person has done. Partner "tried" mediating. I mention "tried" in quotes because it felt more like a you have misunderstood him, the practice is demanding etc etc. My take-away was he would rather lose an SA who has joined the team and has been working for 3 months, than a PA who has been in the team for 1 year and caused 3 attritions within that year (all people directly reporting onto him).
Once second was clear, I knew I would quit. So I did and moved out. I did mention and flag this guy in my exit interview. I am told he never got a promotion later because of that and had to quit and get partnership in another firm. Long story shirt, he is an equity partner today in a T2 firm and people continue to quit under him.
The morale of the story is, control what you can control. If the atmosphere is not sustainable, quit.
