Just consider the record in Bengal. Zilch with Ponzi scam cases. RG Kar buried. Sandeshkhali and many other cases saw prime PWs getting offed. All that CBI and Co could was whine as if they have an inherent right to get a free pass.

Get the SJA to produce FC minutes and agenda papers. All EC, FC and AC minutes and agenda notes as also other admin-inconvenient paperwork is with the Registrar and AR (Acad). The latter is also AR (Planning & Dev) so he also has details of all UGC, CLAT funds that come to the univ and other white elephant expenses.

Seriously, just be tenacious (unlike the SJA) in getting those papers, connect the dots and just follow the trail. You will be surprised how far and wide it goes.

The lack of compassion in this thread is jaw dropping. Has no one here been to law school? The kids who are most out of control with drinking and substance abuse are the ones with immature parents who they cannot talk to. Everyone else does it in moderation and if they go too far, they get suspended and if they are lucky, their parents help them settle down.
This woman is in pain and I feel for her. Losing a child is the most painful thing imaginable. But instead of coping with that pain and loss in a healthy way, she is attacking her daughter's friend. It sounds like he is irresponsible yes, but he needs counselling not prison. Can you imagine going through your life knowing you killed two of your friends? How many people here have been drunk and how many more have done things they shouldn't have while drunk? Did anyone imagine it would go so far?
I don't know the specifics but ideally they should be grieving the deaths together and helping this young man with his problems together. This anger and lashing out is going to do nothing for a scared, grieving student body that is turning to substance abuse because the adults are failing it. They need counselling and care not accusations. Good luck trying to run a law school like a prison. Oxbridge is full of drunken students. Most turn out just fine and some do not and do have catastrophic tragedies like this one. That is human behaviour and young people in universities. Stop trying to attack them for being human. It has nothing to do with their studies or future.

I am so dumb, I have been calculating stamp duty for a while now, but today I messed up the calculations and the mistake was pointed out by the company CS referring to the matrix of another law firm. I feel so stupid rn and I almost cried, as an A0. Idk what will happen tomorrow and it’s eating me up.

I got rank 111 in clat pg 2026, NLS or Nalsar - what should be preferred? Goes to show how bad your math is, despite studying BSc. If there is one junior and one senior faculty teaching a subject, how does your arrangement ensure that all three sections get a senior teacher? Moreover, your suggestion means that you and one BA section will have one paper and the other BA section will have a different question paper. That's legally not possible. This is why you should have actually studied Consti, which you had got the senior faculty for!

Gave CLAT this year and got a shitty rank (32XX). I won’t blame the consortium at all. It was me who messed it up.

Keeping that aside, I’ve researched myself down to this deep rabbit hole about Indian law education. There are no good private collages apparently? Jindal and Symbiosis are too expensive. GLC and ILS are gatekept by Marathis. NMIMS and Nirma are death sentences, if I go by their students’ accounts. Christ is just a catholic jail.

Then what’s the point even? I don’t even have any law-godfathers. I just wanted to get into the profession because I loved debating and had an argumentative personality. Was it my naivety? I just wanted a stable career which would feed me and won’t eat up my soul. Is that too much to ask for?

I don’t know what to do anymore. Not sure where to go next. If any of you could give me any advice, it would be greatly appreciated. I don’t have anyone to guide me.

Tarun's backstory might me interesting. he sure comes across like someone who was born in generational wealth and had the good contacts. We demand a Tarun Nangia equivalent for the Mumbai crowd. ISB has the same reputation in the MBA world as does Jindal in law. Nobody who clears CAT goes to ISB. It is a refuge for ones who score low in CAT, don't land in IIM BLACKI/FMS/XLRI and such, and are not left with other options. They don't have great placements, make up numbers, and don't publish a detailed placement report, whereas IIMs generally publish third-party audited placements reports.

ISB, however, has a lot of money. So just like Jindal, it manages to maintain its PR, and does serve as the next best option when you don't land at one of the best. It also does manage to attract a few good hirers owing to the institutional ties. Has good faculty and infra because money. But none of that places it above a t-1 B school. However, none of this is a reason to not opt for it- it's still very much a decent option.

If you want so many senior profs, then go to a TLC. Since you seem to not get the simple point that it is not possible to have two separate question papers for two sections of the same programme, but it is possible to have two such papers for two separate programmes, you seem to be more suited to those places.

1- There are very few people that you'd find in your batch who'd be starting at 20. But they still do exist. There's not a lot of fussing over who's how old so don't expect much discrimination. But yeah, since you are starting out late and considering dropping out, the pressure is on you to perform well. Make sure to have good grades and a good profile and no one cares.

2- Of course it is. SLSP has been barely managing 5-10% placements, not even half of which are t-1s. A T-1 will always give you the edge. 1 year of dropping out opposed to an alma you can count on, and a uni that puts you an advantage by simply existing.

3- Not quite. If you have a home bias, then that's a different story. Else, the preference always is and will be NUJS>NLUJ>GNLU.

I am an associate in a T1, recently started working. However, I have always been very keen to pursue my masters abroad after working in a firm for 2 years or so. Accepting ones own limitations and failures is never easy. But only when you do, can you ever exceed. There are an innumerable number of first generation advocates without familial connections in the profession (such as myself) who have done rather well for themselves. Bandying about stereotypes as a panacea to your frustrations, is an illusory salve. Cold hard reality militates against every single point you have mentioned.

Also, you seem remarkably ignorant and frankly, quite condescending of our clients. Why would a client ever engage an incompetent or someone who has never had to prove their competence? Why would said Senior Counsels ever engage with said incompetent AORs? How could said incompetents ever survive in the profession?

You live in your own echo chamber where failures are blamed on existing social archetypes and institutions. Look inward young man. Progress will never occur without introspection and acceptance of reality.

And age will teach you another fundamental truth - clients trust you only when you win for them and protect them at all costs. Stop living in worlds of childish fantasy and spouting nebulous pointless concepts like "ethics". The only ethics in our profession is when you protect your client, win for them in Court, get the deal done for them, all while abiding by our legal and social systems.

I can tell you that students your age have joined NUJS in the past and have gone ahead to make perfectly successful careers in their lives. I'm not going to get into a flexing match about which NLU is better, you should focus on objective stats and alumni presence for deciding those kind of things and not ask around in this anonymous forum in my opinion.

That's because the ones given to you would have half the workload as they need to offer other electives. You keep displaying your lack of comprehension and understanding. You have one section, we have two. People teaching you would have less workload. As a student, you don't get to decide who should teach you. You can at best report when someone teaching you is doing a bad job. Did you provide such feedback about any of these people who are going to teach you? No. So put up with it.

That has been tried and to bad results. No teacher who has not taught a student should evaluate the student during the examination or set papers for them to solve. Even then, making the class schedule is next to impossible given the electives. You fancy yourself as a problem solver only because you have got no clue about the variables involved.

Do not depend on SJA because the number deficit will not be bridged. Unless BSc comes together nothing will happen. You will certainly get manipulated and later used as an excuse for various expenses done in your "best interests".

Since SJA in this and other issues as well has proved to be a self serving medium for an entitled brass, bin it. SJA does not exist in the NUJS Act. It is merely a creation of the founding VC and the monopoly has been allowed by the admin. Refuse it and have your own thing. Stay united.

Greeting to the LI community

Iam currently a first year student at SLSP and gave CLAT 2026 the three questions i have in short from everyone is

1. Is there any Impediment if one starts law school at 20 )social, career progress, ageism in law school, placement preference)

2. Is it worth leaving SLSP for greener pastures are they actually greener? Context SLSP has swelled its batch size to over 600 and is not faring well administratively or academically there isnt much exposure overall disheartening.

3. NLUJ being closest to home will have a little bias for me but is it the best out of the three?

Everyone expected Cutoffs to go low, and even with previous cutoffs, I thought I could have a shot at lower T1 NLUs, but this seriously perplexed me. I have no idea what NLU i'll be getting now, and I don't know if I should take a drop or take the T2 that comes my way.
