Hi which office did you apply to? I've previously interned at FoxMandal & Associates in December (hyd office) & was looking to this time do a proper IP internship at the blr branch. I kept following up with my mails, the head HR spoke very rudely saying we've already given you an internship once, why do you want to take the opportunities of others dont waste my time and so on.

Kind of confused if I have broken some etiquette with regards to applying. Additionally, would like to know if there are any good IP firms in Blr that offer assesment internships ( that actually end up converting)

I feel the book is the type of book which is generally not available in India, and I think it is a good starting point. The book is very engaging and tells us about the inside story of the firm and the revolution it caused in the indian legal sector through the introduction of certain policies such as the lockstep method, distancing itself from surename based firm idea, etc. It also tells us about the background of other firms, such as Phoenix. Moreover, I often used to think about how these firms actually start, like how they get their first clients. The book tells a lot about this.

I understand that people are unhappy. But have they tried speaking to mid level or partners directly and tell them the issues? Long hours and volume cannot be solved for but maybe it's important for both sides to sit down and speak to each other.

Maybe the managers should consider making juniors and seniors sit down with each other, mandatorily and have the difficult conversation

The average person (first gen) has as much chance of becoming a senior charging 20 lacs per hearing as the possibility of an asteroid colliding with earth in the next 6 months. The starry eyed law students may not like it, but most first gen lit bros are arguing petty consumer disputes at consumer tribunals, or matrimonial disputes at family courts, and getting paid (if at all) 20 bucks per hearing.

Dude just do just a basic linkedin research. I personally knew a lot of people that have left. counsels that have left are: PV and KJ from the Fintech and FSR team. There are no counsels left. RJ, the senior associate has also left. All last year associate (A0) hires have left and no hires from the year previous to that have stayed with the firm. And NO they were not fired, some were but there were alot who chose to resign without even another job at hand because working at SRL was just that miserable. Please have the basic decency to not lie outright - these people are playing with the careers of students and must be called out.

I am from first batch of integrated law programme at IIM Rohtak, despite the high fees and brand name, the entire batch is struggling to get any job offers, getting internships at t1 firms was also rare. No day zero, no recruitment drive, we have been left shattered. I belong to a middle class family and having spend such huge amount to end with no job. I am depressed and feel pathetic.

symbiosis noida isn't bad, but if you want to try for something better, maybe consider nirma? there are other state govt college exams going on like mhcet, maybe prep for those and take a partial drop if you want to go to an nlu. at 5k you could get into some t3 nlu via vacancies.

Well, for starters, clat is a less known exam, whereas jee is a household name- which contributes to the hype around the result itself.

So, no. Clat toppers are not celebrated the same way JEE toppers are, and while both toppers are meritorious, it's more about awareness and competition. But i feel it's better this way, and there's no need for gimmicks by coachings to drum up more clients in clat, not that there is none currently, but almost negligible in comparison.

SYMBI Noida is the choice, because one thing that stands out is getting 1.5 months excuse attendance per semester in 4th year for Internships and in 5th year 2 months per semester. This excludes your 1 month break between each semester. Also NCR has every practise area that one can explore. Mumbai and other cities have less visibility when it comes to options.

So long story short, I completed my LLB and LLM in 2016. I then joined a friend's business and we built a somewhat decent local brand for the last 10 years. We are currently doing really well, the whole thing is coasting smoothly.

In between I did nothing related to law. No litigation, no court, no corporate, no internships, nothing. However, I would read livelaw and legal matters daily since I just couldn't let go of my love for law. I feel I need to get back into the game. However I do not want to get into corporate, so that means NO MBA and NO Law firms. What do I do ?

1. Should I apply for a PhD and get into research since I love legal issues and would have that passion to sustain.

2. Should I pivot to something like socio-legal research and apply at places like TISS.

3. Should I join litigation. There's a ten year gap but that's the most accepting place irrespective of age and money is not an issue.

4. Do I genuinely swallow my pride and join corporate with a MBA/executive MBA. I have a decade of experience in setting up a business from scratch.

It's not for the money. I'm earning enough through our business. It's about the passion and happiness to do something much more than financial satisfaction.

I think 2031 batch will join at the peak of HNLU's comeback - the admin is shit, and there's no denying that, but the students have worked tooth and nail to put HNLU back on the map - be it mooting, internships, or extracurriculars. Make the best out of this place - stay away from drugs, the loser crowd, and actively seek out seniors that can be of help to you. Also, don't judge people too early, HNLU is not linear, not every stoner is a loser by default and not every teetotaller topper is of actual help, make wise judgments for yourself

not true, AI is not going to cull hiring, humans are the best at fear mongering, tech companies with ai wings themselves dont replace their workforce with AI, less than 3% of job loss worldwide last year was claimed as due to AI, 5% in the US and most of this is also just claim AI so your share price does not take a hit.

Most tech companies are rehiring their workforces so AI is not doing anything.

Waited enough to build a cash reserve. WLB is better, but still just as boring. Will probably do an MBA sometime soon, but even that seems a different kind of boring tbvh. Litigation might be interesting, but haven't really built that kind of a risk appetite yet.

My advice would be to pivot to litigation if you do really wanna do it - it becomes harder and harder as life goes on and you start a family. Can't let that money go for nothing.

The professors who made an attempt to understand the subject allocated to them and thereafter teach it to us, have all left. Most of the teachers half ass it out here coz manpower issues.

Placements are shit. At least they were for BO25. Opportunities for direct recruitment are few and far in between. Mostly you’re out on your own.

That being said, enjoy the city and moot as much as you can. Unless you’re into academia, chuck the papers. Bide your time doing something better / more productive.

Earlier elite families from metro cities went to NLUs and other government colleges. Now they either go abroad or to Ashoka, Jindal, Shiv Nadar etc.

NLUs and other government colleges are today packed mostly with student from lower-middle class backgrounds and tier 2/3 cities.

This demographic change will is going to have enormous consequences.

I thought of applying for Army JAG but I imagined part of the work will be defending court martials for crimes against humanity and such. Even Air Force has sketchy record with bombing Aizwal and all. Sounded too harrowing for my stomach.

At least Navy that way has limited record and scope for CAH, in India at least.

Perhaps they're educating you on how good you have it, especially compared to them (very true if you're not in tier-1). The bonding when reminiscing about misery comes from many shared peer experiences at work where joking about / laughing at your situation together is the only accessible island when you're otherwise drowning in an ocean of work and toxicity.

Why does everyone always answer these type of threads with fresher numbers? Can someone do this at PQE level 5+? Some of us want to know how underpaid we are despite having experience - most of those without experience are likely grateful to land a job rather than caring about pay.

Hiring is good, lots of attrition so lots of vacancies. Work culture varies by partner but is average at best. Not as bad as it could be, but far from perfect.

Lots of telecom work for NN's team, otherwise data, e-commerce, AI mandates across all partners. JR has a focus on fintech and crypto too.

You do work across teams sometimes, but generally each team has clusters which manage mandates between themselves.

If you really enjoy TMT work, Trilegal TMT is your best bet, no other office gets this kinda work. But the amazing work is buried between bad hours, an average culture and way too much telecom.

EY GDS is one of the worst jobs- once can do after law school. Pay is bad- job is completely clerical. No lawyer worth their salt should ideally do this.

My suggestion is that you switch asap to a law firm/ company. However not sure how the breakthrough will happen as not much relevancy of work experience.

I have two choices.

1) I failed CLAT 25 and 26. I'll be 21 this September. Should I give CLAT? I'll leave if I get a T1 NLU but then, I'll be 21-22 when I start. Is my experience gonna suck in the classroom? Will I be alone or smth? Will people look down upon me? I live in an abusive household (won't go into details warna crime patrol hoga)...it will be both my passion and escape; but I want brutal reality.

2) I finish my BA and somehow hold myself together till 2028....and do a 3 year LLB. Too late and I'll have another trauma bundle but if it's better than the first one, okay.

I need suggestions and advice. Please help.

Good assessment. To add my two cents, I would say that the lower end of family income among Jindal students is 80 lakhs to 2 cr pa, the average is 2 cr to 10 cr pa, and the upper end is upwards of 10 cr pa. There are a few with income below 80 lakhs pa, but these are a small minority on loans and scholarships.

I have been working in a T1 for three years now. I'm mind-numbingly bored most of the time. I used to think that it would go away if I did big deals or contracts. Surprise, surprise! It didn't.

I love the people I work with, the team is generally very good, and the partner is very nice—even consciously giving me work from different streams so that I have new things to work on. I have a relatively good work-life balance, my bonus is good all year, and my rating is the third highest in the review band.

But I'm just bored. This job is very cushy, but it doesn't scratch that itch, you know? I just feel stuck and mentally done.

I'm planning on moving in-house within the next year, spending some time there, contemplating, and then moving to litigation if I still feel like it.

I never really thought that I'd feel so shitty because of the job I was so grateful for (still am).

I would appreciate experiences from others who have felt the same and made similar pivots. I would also appreciate tips on how to go about the next couple of years in preparation for moving to litigation.

Its a good college provided you avoid all the college cells (most important advice a decent senior can give you before you join), try to remain within the top 15 and you will be golden by the time you graduate. Don't give in to the PDI marks of the college (you will know once you get in), you can easily score more if you study sincerely. Your academics are far more in your control than you may initially believe.

Its a facade that college cells help you intern and get placed at good places, only a good gpa, quality papers and meaningful moot court competitions help you with that, those telling otherwise just want you to work for their cells so that they don't have to put in the hours.

College gives you a bunch of internship opportunities, time and academic exposure, however it is only for those who want to work for and take it. Nothing comes automatically.

Mooting culture is amazing, make the most of it (I regret not participating in more moots) you will get to experience mooting right from your first year with ample opportunities for national and international representations.

Ragging is not a problem here, strict rules in place and actually implemented.

Faculties will help getting your papers publish in good journals. Start writing from your first year onwards itself, even if they don't get published, you will get a better understanding on how to go about writing papers when the actual time comes, which is in and around your 3rd year with your elective subjects.

Good number of companies and firms come to the college for internships and placements, the college has a respectable name for you to not take a drop. Beyond academics, Pune is a beautiful city to spend half a decade of your life.

You will love Symbhav, no other college has a better fest, period.
