Nalsar- take loan from your friend
Nujs- get it from your money earned easily without sweating your ass for trisemester lol.
all these Aanlsiuuuu and Nullllsarrrr be hating their asses off to Nujs because we earn almost the same without trisemester hahahah burn bitches
R since you posted this, you should not be not posting this.
As a side note, don't get into fights with seniors, it's very difficult to survive law school without the help of seniors at least for the first year.
And as for placement percentages, just look at this blog: https://lawschoolwizard.wordpress.com/2021/11/23/demystifying-day-zero-batch-of-2022/. Probably the most accurate picture of placements in recent times. NLUD's percentage placed is definitely higher and unlike NUJS and NLUJ, we don't have many tier-2 firms that come for Day-Zero to bump up numbers.
And no, NLUD RCCs has no bar on who sits for placements, many students here voluntarily opt out to try other options. I get that Noojies are insecure since there's very few things that they are actually better at than NLUD now, but that's no reason to spread misinformation. NLUD is well ahead. But nice try at undermining NLUD's achievements to just a "better campus and more funds". Try harder next time. Point being, NLUD is easily the better choice over NUJS anyday. Maybe with NALSAR/NLS, there is a decision to make, but even there NALSAR is also stagnating.
How am I gonna know this?
You must be the first person graduating from Harvard and coming back to India but earning the same massive US industry standard package.Startups can be opened by anyone, yours is a stupid take with all due respect.
Can't imagine, sorry.
Agreed with the prestige statement brooooo.
You gave me a tip, I'll give you one. Focus on your reading comprehension, you can really use it.
Never said either IIMA or M7 is better. My point is M7 makes sense if you settle abroad which I have reiterated multiple times. IIM makes sense if you plan on settling in India.
Coming to your ROI point:
In absolute terms, yes M7 obviously beats IIM. Big fkn surprise. Average salary in USA is USD 70K, which is more than Rs. 50LPA. So absolute comparison makes little to no sense. So yeah, one can guess that Harvard grads are probably gonna earn more than IIMA if they settle abroad and earn in USD. Also pls note, there is absolutely no way a fresh Harvard graduate entering the workforce is going to earn that same amount in India. Those big packages are only for the US market.
The specific point of ROI should be considered with respect to the total expenses:
In USA, tuition plus other living expenses at an M7 are gonna run you at least USD 200K and the average compensation post MBA will be around USD 180-220K (Base + joining bonus + performance payout). Your ROI in the first year comes out to be 0.9 to 1.1.
IIMA, tuition plus other living expenses are gonna run 28Lakhs and the average compensation post MBA will be around 30 to 34LPA (Total CTC). Your ROI in the first year comes out to be 1.07 to 1.2.
As you can see the ROI is better in a certain college.
So it boils down to like I've mentioned numerous times before, that the ideal college depends on where you want to work and settle.
Don't admire my perseverance. Just read up more.
Not an expert on competitive exams.
Your point about Raghuram Rajan is fallacious at best. Raghuram Rajan left his teaching job to become RBI Governor. He is an example of a non-conventional post MBA career trajectory. People have different aspirations. If they want to go and earn in USD after an M7 MBA, great. If they want to go to IIMA, great. If they want to go to USA to experience the culture, get the degree, pay off the debt, come back to India and earn in INR, great. If they want to go to an M7 and return to India expecting a higher salary than an IIMA grad, good luck.
Hope the OP got what he's looking for. Imma quit this thread.
really confused
Are you sure you want to keep harping on the various rankings that AZB & it’s Partners (including through various other “investment” entities) “sponsored” subsequent to which your Capital Markets practice was recognised as “number 1”?
Even if you decide to, do remember everyone understands the need for such sponsorships after the Amazon related matter pending before the Delhi HC, but no-one will respect you for having to rely upon such sponsorships to prove credentials.
PS - Have worked on multiple transactions with most of your team (Delhi and Mumbai) and sadly, you guys are no where close to being able to call yourselves a capital markets lawyer in its truest sense. Leave aside coming up with practical solutions and advising the clients basis regulations, your team prefers to become obstructionists by refusing to rely upon written regulations only to bill the clients more by wasting their time.
Or should this be of the factors before i finalise the firm, with a PPO perspective.
Such a blatant NLUO troll, try to be more discreet next time.
To the OP, please choose HNLU. Don't listen to these RGNUL haters who couldn't make it here
Bhoumick Vaidya, SAM
Coming to your query, it depends on how satisfied you want to feel after five years. Would you rather join a NLU that is still improving and strives to be the very best across all legal fields or settle for a lazier choice which would help fetch a corporate job slightly more easily? At NLUD, you can actually contribute towards the institution-building process by working hard whereas at NUJS, it feels like it's resigned to being the place with the "highest" placements for jobs which most people quit after 2 years, and not much else different from other NLUs.
And if people are saying that the law school tag doesn't matter and all top NLUs are equal, just look at the pride with which old NLS graduates carry themselves despite having gotten in at a time when law was not even considered prestigious. They're proud since they helped make law a reputable profession based on merit and ability. NLUD is like a new improved force with modern ideas that can become even better, so it's an easy choice over NUJS.
Shame shame!
Graduates from IICA campus on the other hand are all well placed with a minimum package of 10 Lpa.
Even the ones who claims have a presence (Khaitan, SAM and JSA) operate by hiring local Tamil lawyers and firms. For eg. Khaitan is a local Litigation office (assentio legal).
It's rare to see non tamilians working in Chennai. Salaries are also low.
Regional lobbies can only exist when there is diversity and multiculturalism.
Plus there are other placements for sure including my friend at Anagram Partners, which people don't know about because nobody asked. The admin in their wisdom doesn't even count Chamber placements like other colleges do.
Check the RGNUL Placement cell page on linkedin for the tier 1 and 2 placements
Requesting blue-label status as this is a hot topic! Could NLU grads finally be involved in politics and policy advocacy the same way Harvard-Yale grads are in the US? It will be a massive gamechanger for the country and for law grads if this happens! Anyone you know who is joining these think-tanks? Can you share names and LinkedIN profiles?
I'm guessing most NLU grads would be left-liberal aligned and prefer to work with Congress think-tanks? We do have examples of high-profile BJP NLU grads, such as Vikramjit Banerjee and Jiveer Shergil, but they are perhaps the exception and not the rule?
1) MNLU Nagpur has the best infrastructure among all the NLUs In the country.
2) Nagpur is one of the fastest growing cities in the world.
3) The university currently has no materialized trust base established in the industry BUT they are actively working for it.
4) They placed 10/54 students during COVID. Agreed that not everyone who passes out gets placed BUT anyone who works hard to touch the top of the batch is in a great position to get placed.
5) The mix of resources are good enough to build a good legal career if used in sheer "PROACTIVE-NESS" by the student himself without depending on the university.
6) At this stage, the university has nothing to offer more than Top notch resources. Placements may not be expected to mature only in the first 2-3 batches (2016-21 batch 1st, 2017-22 Batch 2nd, 2018-23 Batch 3rd ... ).
7) Placements for the batch of 2023 are currently going on and once it finishes within a month at Max, the data will be available (not expected to be on the website but can be expected later in NIRF report.).
8) This year's placement data will be a pivotal point in determining the trend.
9) The factor of alumni base is not applicable to MNLU N since only two batches have passed out (+1 if you consider 2023).
I don't intend to show this Law School in hagiographic light BUT I dismiss the claims of the Trolls on this platform who call it 'sinking ship', 'Bleak', 'not worth it' and other offensive names.
Agreed, we're not in a position as good as that of the top 7 NLUs but atleast we don't deserve offensive and hateful names.
There have always been trends wherein new law schools have overtook the older ones. During 2010s when ILS and GLC were dominating the industry, we all know that NLS came and overtook them. This didn't break the former's credibility but changed the overall scenario in the country.
You guys should atleast not shatter our faith in our institution taking things to extremes. We are not the best BUT we have the potential to be the best.
This platform acts as the front face of the Legal Industry and trolls here humiliating students from other law schools does have an effect on prospective CLAT taking aspirants.
Let's be responsible while writing something here.
Nlsiu - Apple
NALSAR - HP
Nujs - Second hand dell
2. Bland.
3. Free for all until admin decides otherwise, then you are the culprit.
4. Mixed bunch. Number of truly driven people is minuscule, but that's probably true everywhere. Loads of entitlement. Some good 'uns.
5. Very few. The amount of scholarship varies too. The holders are considered better students.
6. Not really, because there are no poor here. Max upper-middle class (upwards of 20LPA fam income). There is a stark difference between their habits and activities and that of the rest.
As far as placements are concerned, don't restrict yourself to corp placements only, there are other things like research institutes that pay a decent salary.
To answer your question, yes, an LLB degree from NLS would be beneficial for you. However, if you are looking for corp placements then that may just be a difficult task.
As a side note, a person from the MPP 2023 batch is a civil servant in West Bengal who had cracked the WBCS exe exam in 2020, if I am not wrong. His name is Sujoy [in case the moderator allows it]. you can reach out to him on LinkedIn as he would be in a better position to guide you than any of us on LI.
But as a group and some insecure nalsarians always act as though they have a chip on their shoulder. It is something law schoolites shrug off.
I’ll tell you what else - this sort of politics makes middle class college students feel great about how progressive they are. It does not do anything at all for actual trans people who are struggling because of how society treats them.
A better comparison would be what Ranbir Singh did at NLUD in a short while. And as far as JGLS goes, the VC isn't the only reason for its faculty, which vary in quality as per student feedback. It's a private institute that can afford to throw loads of money to attract talent, and even then their hiring seems less focused on experience than mere qualifications. NLS's recruitment has been one of the best so far.
The best professor at nalsar for some time has been Sidharth chauhan.
This is typical boys hostel culture where any man is hailed by his junior friends as a rock star and no woman no matter her accomplishments is recognised as even exceptional. Perfect example of how much this rock star word needs to be totally retired.
Looking for a switch to tier 1. DSK, SAM or Trilegal?
Best partners in these firms
Please suggest for the Mumbai offices.
you'll have 2 3yr law associates as compared to 8 from 5yr law. Meaning the competiton will be higher, it'll be more hard. At the same time you are someone who knows what you are doing, good at your job, have ability to deliver amazing billables, no tier-1 will deny you the opportunity you deserve. At the end of the day it is a business and they are also trying to maximse their profits. Just work on yourself and get ahead of others. Think about what you bring to the table for them and how and why would you be better for the job compared to others.
Take this from a non-nlu grad who is working in tier -1 corp rn, it is easy to fall in the rabbit hole and dwell over the missed opportunities (in your case, comparing yourself to 5yr law students). At the same time, look for solutions rather than spending your time contemplating your life decisons. It is generally not good for your mental health as there is nothing you can do to go back in time. (This also applies if you do choose the other opportunities you mentioned, make sure you dont regret and dwell again on not going down the law route).
You can still land a corp job, focus on your strenghts and find ways. I completly understand your unncertanity and how daunting it can be, but use it to fuel your career. I believe your dillema should not be 3yr law vs 5yr law, but you should focus more on law vs the other opportunities you have. If you do decide on the law route, do the 3yr law with pride. the 3yr vs 5yr debate is not relevant for you as it is the only option you have, so dont stress over it. If you were to ask 3yr vs 5yr law in your 12th before joining a BA or BCOM, our ans would be different.
Comparing is the thief of joy, at the end of the day we need to do the best we can with the opportunities we have. Fixating and cancelling a career option just because of an industry prejudice is not really the path you should go down. All the best!
Not sure about the placement
