NLU Jodhpur sneaks ahead of NLSIU Bangalore to fourth place in the Mooting Premier League 2 sponsored by Allen & Overy, following outstanding memorials at WTO-ELSA Asia alongside GNLU Gandhinagar. Meanwhile, new entrant Dr Ambedkar Chennai wins the Amity Moot.
MPL 2 Quicklinks:

With 148 points, Nalsar continues to lead the MPL Standings while NUJS Kolkata is at second position with 119 points.
NLU-J’s Aparna Gaur earned her college 8 more points (taking the tally to 16) by winning the best researcher award. The best speaker award was won by Urvashi Mishra of ILS Law College Pune.
Gunjan Arora and Surabhi Iyer, student organizers of the moot, confirmed the results and said that 24 teams participated in the moot. The problem was based on public international law, they added.

GNLU Gandhinagar was the other college to earn MPL points at the competition, receiving 3 points with an honourable mention in the Best Overall Written Submissions.
Earning a total of 26 points during the last week, NLU-J has jumped from 9th to 4th position in the MPL Standings with 86.5 points, only half a point ahead of NLSIU Bangalore with 86 points.
The ELSA-WTO organisers were not available for comment.

Why the results of international rounds of Air Law moot is not being updated. NLU Delhi won best speaker and was ranked third and this moot is to be included in best of the rest.
I guess, when everybody is talking abt their growth, NLU Delhi from last MPL, has grown 10 times for now, with Lachs, Jessup, and NLS moot pending. Furthermore, NLU Delhi won Law Asia which was not counted by MPL.
A great performance to be witnessed in coming time....
15: Nalsar had 134 points prior to the Amity Moot. At Amity, it was semi-finalist and won the best memorandum award. Thus, earned 4 and 12 points respectively (12 in total). Consequently, it now stands at 146 points. Do let us know if you have spotted anything contrary to the above-stated!
Thanks!
Sanjay
Way to go NALSAR !!!
My Boys have again set the battlefield on fire ! With so many battles already won, the war shall be won as well !!! My T 92 Bhishmas have destroyed the enemies' pattons shermans and leopards !!!
Blast Away !!!!
Victory Shall BE OURS !!!!
NLU Delhi was also the semi-finalist and consequently the third best team.
Um, if it earned 4 and 12 RESPECTIVELY, that would add up to a total of 16 points.
NOT a total of 12 points.
Another jewel in NLU's international trade law crown :-)

Cheers!

Thats correct. Such a list for each moot would be very helpful in determining the overall mooting performance of a particular college.
We do ask for all the details pertaining to the moot. In fact, during the initial stages of MPL2 we did want to put up those lists with each moot story. However, problem arises when the results are confirmed on phone/orally/by text or when the organizers confirm the results while they are caught up with the post moot work (which is the case most of the times!).
Thus, as a substitute, we are trying to incorporate as much details of a moot as possible in the wiki page of that moot (Each moot in MPL has a separate wiki page!). Although it might take some time, but once everything is in place one can find these details there. And being a separate page dedicated to one particular moot, it will contain details on yearly basis. Thus, one can also observe the relative progress of the moot there.
Let us know if you have any thoughts on this.

But astonished to see, NUJS and NLU Delhi still trying to show their supremacy.
NLSIU, Nalsar and NLU-J are definitely in a different league altogether when it comes to maturity and being subtle about their respective accomplishments. Its better than blowing your own trumpet!
But congrats Ambedkar and NLU-J for the moot!
P.S. Nalsar is definitely going to win MPL2! Way to go Nalsar.
NALSAR Rocks! and it would smash MPL2
well you have made a valid point that organisers are quite 'busy' in post moot days to provide detailed results, and that as most of the MPL news is 'live' LI has to do with whatever imp news (usually the winners, runners up and some other bits) comes to it by the organisers.
While having more extensive info database at the wiki is highly commendable but it would be also great if a tabular chart could be given with every MPL live moot page/ MPL individual moot page which would contain the names of the participant law schools and their progress or other achievements in that moot. if the moot organisers contact LI beforehand then getting the names of participating colleges shouldnt be a big problem and once the results are declared the 'activist/vociferous' readership of LI moot columns would provide enough info on the positions of teams until 'official' results are declared.
Further with something like MPL, which like me most of law school alum with agree is quite unique in India, LI can persuade the moot organisers to be more cooperative on issues of media releases and providing quick uptodate info. MPL has gained quite high popularity among at least some section of law school students and I am sure if the moot organisers are provided subtle hints that MPL would not cover their moots unless timely information are provided on the progress or elimination of teams then, the organisers would be happy to comply. I am not trying to say that one party is in an advantageous position what I am trying to get through is that there is a symbiotic relationship, no moot organiser wants to have a competition where only few local colleges arrive and the competition is over in few hours with prizes distributed in an empty classroom.
Thus while i welcome extensive info on wiki pages I am in favor of tabular elimination or progress sheet on MPL moot news pages.
Thanks!

You epitomise the words "petty" and "small-time", and bring down the Nalsar's repute. Be dignified about your achievements, and perhaps the respect you so desperately crave might eventually come your way.
Neeta Kaplish!!
@ 43 Should we start counting the list of NLS students selected to pursue LLMs at the top universities of the world? We'll be here till midnight.
Nalsarite. Class of 2012.
and tell me how many NLS students have qualified for LLM in prestigious foreign universities this year? :P
NLS won Jessup 12 years back. You didn't even qualify for DC this year.
Suck my balls.
Now you suck my...err...leave it. Not a good idea!
You friggin idiot... I had addressed my statement to people from NLS. Hence "you didn't even qualify".
[...]
one rhodes scholar going to oxford
one fifth year got through both LSE and NYU
one fifth year got through Georgetown
one alumnus got into cambridge
one alumnus got into NYU
three alumni got into UPenn
oxford, harvard and columbia results still pending. we'll get back to you once they are done. happy?
I'll tell you abt NALSAR.
One Rhodes Scholar to Oxford
One Final Year Student to NYU
One Final Year Student to Yale
One Final Year Student to Berkeley
One Final Year student to do Criminology at OXFORD. Only 15 students all over the world get selected for this.
Needless to mention, columbia and harvard results are awaited.
Dude, stop basking in the old glory of NLS. Wake up to reality. And sadly, its appalling.
you are a fool. if alumni from last year prefer to work for a year and then apply, why isn't it counted?
oh yeah, I forgot, one to Berkely as well.
and yeah high hopes from oxford

Talking about admission in foreign universities, students all of these three NLUs were able to get admission in various foreign universities. NLS - 3 , NALSAR - 5, NUJS - 15 ( for last session. refer above link )
Point is that, as the time would pass other National Law Universities would also emerge as one of the best places to study law in India like NLU Delhi, GNLU and some others. And competition would get tougher. There are many things which have been achieved by some national law universities but not by others. All in all, Good students are everywhere and I am quite sure that these good students who get a name to their college do not jump into these useless fights. These are those students, who do not have anything else do so think that "Why not insult other clg".
@63 - Please dont use the name of IIMs and IITs here. The kind of unity which these students have among themselves ins wonderful. Whether it is an IIT Madaras student, or IIT Bombay Student, or IIT kanpur Students. They consider each other as a family.
And opposite to this ( I am talking about useless persons who are present in every clg) whether it is an NLS Student, or a NALSARite, or a Noojiee, or NLUJ Student, or NLU Delhi Student, they just know one thing " My College is better than you".
So please avoid using the name of IIts and IIMs.....
PS: I am also a student of one of these colleges.
Am so cool bebbies.
My Boys, Let me tell you I have ordered for more Sherman tanks( since they are lighter than Pattons).Get Off this forum and study for your mid sems otherwise I shall ground you. Also next time I shall talk about the middle east crisis since Nalsar Proximate is going global. We have proved our worth and shall do so under my leadership and reach the pinnacle of success like the Indian Army. I am brave. You need to know how to die. Die for a cause. Already my best paratroopers and Spl. Ops kids are doing a good job at the MPL 2. My senior officers from HQ (read 5th year) are being sent to Ivy Leagues as part of the Military Intelligence. And Bangalore? Where is that? It's all Madras.
'Seriously' now. Please take some action. You're one responsible admin :-)
Its only between NLS and NALSAR. So Relax.
in that case, it's a non-starter. 15 Rhodes Scholars for NLS. Nalsar has how many again...?

NLS v. NALSAR had been an old debate now. NLS is class apart, and mooting is just one parameter to judge a college. To be very honest, majority(around 95%) of persons who are blaming NLS to be something or something wanted to go to NLSIU. So please Chill Out! And Refer to above links for more details.
And Man I personally feel NUJS is good in many things which no other clg is. Not in all, as every clg has its own importance.
We all know that NLS is still the best! comments from few people couldnot take its credibility
Law Firms -
NLS - 31
NALSAR - 22
NUJS - 38
Companies/PSUs As pointed out by @ 82
NLS - 16
NALSAR - 21
NUJS - 13
Foreign Firms -
NLS - 9 (Huge difference here man, have a look)
NALSAR - 4
NUJS -3
Foreign Universities -
NLS - 3
NALSAR - 5
NUJS - 15
Others -
NLS - 0
NALSAR - 0
NUJS - 3
Your argument here fails buddy. Accepted NALSAR is the best in mooting, but not in other things. that is why start basking only at this time. Please show your in those threads please.
Facts support that placement of NALSAR was neither better than NLS( that is a far fetched) nor than NUJS.
Please, if anyone want to add further, substantiate your arguments with facts. But I know that wont help you, so some vague arguments would be presented. never Mind
@82 -
Yes Man, It indeed shows it all.
i think it would be far more productive if we stop the bitchfest and moved on to useful collaborations like this.. remember the prisoners' dilemma
And there are only a few people, majority goes to NLS. And Had I been from NLS, then I must have accepted it.
Le li 88 ki.
and you dont worry abt the top rankers choosing nls over nalsar. perception doesnt take much time to change. :-)
cool..
