Amarchand has emerged as the most aggressive Indian early recruiter, having hired a total of 36 fourth-year law students to start in 2014, followed by Luthra & Luthra with 26 accepted job offers, and Trilegal and Khaitan & Co with 18 and 16 job offers respectively.
The six largest firms, also including AZB & Partners and J Sagar Associates (JSA) are traditionally invited by colleges first to recruit students one year before they graduate, and have already hired at least 102 students from law schools recently to start when they graduate in 2014 (see table).
Amarchand Mumbai partner Vandana Shroff, commenting on recruitments across the firm, said: “We are very pleased with our recruitment and we hope to continue to nurture talent within the firm.”
According to data supplied by five out of the six largest law firms, 10 law schools have benefited from law firms’ early recruitment efforts.
As previously reported on Legally India, Nalsar Hyderabad students received at least 25 offers from the six firms, followed by at least 21 accepted offers to NLSIU Bangalore students from the six largest firms (not counting three offers made by McKinsey & Co and S&R Associates).
NUJS also managed to secure accepted job offers for at least 21 students, while NLU Jodhpur has at least 10 accepted offers, according to the information provided by firms.
GNLU Gandhinagar, helped by Amarchand’s major recruitment round of six, matched NLU Jodhpur’s tally.
The big surprise entrant into the day zero table with seven offers was Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) Sonipat, whose 2014 batch will be the second ever to graduate from the college. Amarchand made four job offers to Jindal students, Khaitan hired at least two, and Luthra one.
It is understood that Khaitan may also hire from GLC Mumbai later, where the recruitment process is less structured than at most national law schools.

We've not had any NLU D RCC confirmation so far - but these are the figures received from law firms as of last week...
NLUD has 12 placements from fourth year batch on the zero day, excluding four training contracts from magic circles. AZB and J Sagar still to come.
Link not entirely safe for work, contains profanity: www.sfweekly.com/2009-01-07/news/how-douchebag-became-everyone-s-favorite-insult/full/
Look Man you should learn to Respect people from other institute. And yeah congrats to Sadhika Jalan for clearing the DJS but at the same time congrats to all the law students who made it to AMSS & Luthra
Delhi Judicial Service??? Oh boy, that means Nalsar recruitment really is crappy this time!
Luthra took six of them.
Disclaimer - Not a Jindalite. Not a NLUite either.
Just cause someone isn't from a national school or a Jindal-ite (relevant in this case), he/she cant have an opinion that may be counted??
I think "Phadnis" you should refrain from questioning peoples hard work and achievements. Credit SHOULD be given when due.
Apt. Very apt.
Sorry my poor Dad, don't feel bad that you couldn't send me to JGLS. I'm happy with what I got and assure you that I'll do good in life....sooner or later!!
Sh*t me not! Corporate whores? Aren't senior counsels the same since, they represent corporates before the Court? Aren't retired judges also corporate whores since, they act as arbitrators and charge lakhs per sitting? Which area of law practice according to you falls outside the realm of "corporate whore"? Grapes are sour? I am sure that you had appeared for CLAT and would have given everything to join one of these NLUs. Do not tell me you would join public service after graduating. If you were really against capitalistic forces and intended to join public service post graduation, you would not have joined a privately run law school that charges 8 lakhs an year and has MOUs with White & Case, AMSS, AZB, et al.,
"Sorry my poor dad" I sympathise, actually, I don't, you went to NLU, get over it.
The reason you went there is because you lacked choices in institutions and with all that cash you could have very well exercised your altruistic bilities which I am sure you would pursue after learning the right ethics at JGLS
also you will fart at 15:00 hours every wednesday like the clown who sits in the next cubicle.
capicse?
We pay roughly six and a half thousand a year in Bombay bro. In 5 years that works out to less than 40 thousand in total for our law degree. Does it really matter what each of us pays??
NLIU commences its placement session in Jul'13. The 4 recruited are PPOs offerred.
As for JGLS, they've got quite a way to go before we start comparing them to the NLSs. However, it is heartening to note the absence of the other private law schools with which JGLS has been compared.
Better AMSS than AZB and God bless the 19, they'll require super-powers to survive at that shark-pit. Assume it could have only gotten worse with the parting of the best friend.
And these firms don't come to nliu Bhopal.
I feel sorry for students of nliu.
Is SnR not considered as a top tier firm anymore?
Stats here are different. Please check.
AMSS-3
Luthra-5
JSA-1
Trilegal 5( 3 subject to internships also count as offers)
So even though not as good as top 3 its definitely better than gnlu, jgls, nlud, nliu etc.
Also, I'm from neither of the two.
Firm mein aa jao bachhe phir dekhenge!
