We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

So I think Raj will be phased out into a mentorship role. As for Dipika, she will be sidelined because her feminist focus is falling out of favour with the management: it’s ideologically inconvenient and doesn’t fetch jobs either. She does have s PhD as week. Re Sreejith, I seem him heading for VCship or Deanship somewhere else.
From what I have heard, coaching is not really needed.
They will check your "office like qualities" - which no coaching can help you with.
You can check the phases of SSB - and just give it a shot. The competition is crazy high though.

Sab freelancers hai.
If you cannot think critically about whether one thing is like another - if all you can do is draw false equivalencies and fight culture wars - you’re not demonstrating seriousness or even fealty and patriotism.
- himself
- CJI Gogoi’s nominee Justice Mishra (neither judge caring anything about NUJS or legal education in general)
- an interim Cal HC CJ (a clueless and timid person who was in charge for just a month; Datta cleverly waited until the permanent CJ left)
- an unknown, small-time businessman who was a TMC spokesman at the time (he was removed after the SJA challenged his appointment as violative of the NUJS act)
This time, I fell Datta will wait for Chandrachud to retire (in November), because Chandrachud may cite Sudhir’s example and want an academically well-qualified VC. By November, Justice Bose will also have retired. So, you will Justice Khanna as CJI. He will probably nominate Justice Dipankar Datta to the selection committee. As for the other members, my bet would be Datta’s mentor Kalyan Banerjee (TMC MP) and maybe Justice Jyotirmoy Bhattacharjee or Justice Girish Gupta.
Cafe yes.
Hometown yes.
Kids no.
Don’t want any. Waste of time and resources. Too much emotional investment. Ties you down. India is too overpopulated anyway.
- Jaitley & Bakshi (run by Arun Jaitley’s daughter Sonali) with BJP
- Legasis (run by Sushma Swaraj’s daughter Bansuri, who is currently a BJP spokesperson) with BJP
- PLR (run by Mahua Moitra’s former friend and election agent Suhan Mukherji) with Congress and TMC
- Aquilaw (run by Abhishek Banerjee’s right hand man Sanjay Basu) with TMC
But what about big players like CAM, SAM, KCO and AZB? Do they have close links with any political party? Will a Modi/Congress victory result in more work for any of them? Or are they neutral and do they have links with all parties?Darshan Hiranandani had named SAM in his affidavit in the cash-for-questions controversy, but is that just an aberration?
Isn't it ironic that a community (Marathas) who trace their lineage to Chhatrapati Shivaji will now be classified as "backward"?
First and foremost, India is surrounded by 2 great nuclear friends. One is a Superpower & other is a crazy power. Me personally, I think the crazy power is a bigger threat because slowly, it has lost its ability to reason. You can still somehow reason with the superpower, because it has bigger fish than us to fry.
Toh pehle toh apni jaan bacha le. Tell me who is USA or any European kid to tell us what should we do? Are they surrounded by 2 nuclear-powered arch enemies with live LOC and LAC? So, should their ideals be applied to our nascent independent nation? Shouldn't our military have top quality weapons too?
The Pak airforce has bloody F16s. Abhinandan fought with F16s. PM Modi said if we had Rafael at that time, result would have been different.
Do you understand the gravity of the situation? We are in a nuclear neighbourhood with 2 good enough militaries with top class weapons on our throats at all times. Unless we are prepared, we will be eliminated. So, all of our thought process has to have the defence component.
Most of our weapons are still imported. We have been building Arjuna tank for last 14y. Tejas is still not fully deployed. After 75+ y we still buy weapons from foreign nations, so much for our greatness.
The Modi govt. allowed the foreign companies to start manufacturing in India and sell to Indian military and create JVs. Shouldn't the UPA or Congress should have done it long ago? Like cycle manufacture Hero, which later created a JV with Honda to create Hero Honda, and later parted ways, our big firms would have learnt a great deal by now. But, the secular Congress & UPA did not allow this. Why? Kickback kam ho jate na.
Literally as an Indian Engineer before 2015, you could not have created a defence tech company an sold to Indian military. Why? Aren't any Indian capable enough? Because you wanted to promote some failed shit called Socialism? No. You wanted India to continue importing weapons so that you could earn kickbacks.
How does Israel comes in this picture? Israel has helped India militarily many times.
- Israel supplied India with armaments, ammunition, and intelligence during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and the Indo-Pakistani War of 19991.
- Israel was in middle of an arms shortage in 1971, but prime minister Golda Meir stepped in to divert arms meant for Iran to India. Israel gave India 160 mm Tempella mortars during the 1971 war2.
- As of 2022, India is Israel’s largest client for military equipment sales, and Israel is India’s second-largest supplier of military equipment after Russia. Approximately 42.1% of all Israeli arms exports are received by India1.
- Israel and India have also been engaged in defence technology cooperation. They have jointly developed the Barak 8 missile defence system and the Phalcon airborne early warning and control system3.
- Israel has also provided India with artillery guns, guided munitions, and mortar systems through a collaboration between Elbit Systems and Bharat Forge3
- Israel helped India during the Kargil War in 1999 by supplying mortars, ammunition, laser-guided missiles, and surveillance drones1.
- Israel became a major partner in the EU satellite program in 2021, which provides GPS capabilities for civilian and military purposes. Israel also agreed to share its satellite data with India, enhancing its navigation and security systems2.
- Israel and India have jointly developed the Hermes 900 drones, which are capable of carrying out reconnaissance and aerial bombardments
Jab agli baar aapki Army aur Air Force officers, ammunition aur missile ki emergency purchase karne bhaage bhaage Israel jae, toh yeh puchna, Is this the promised land? Why not buying weapons from secular states. Weapons are wrong. Peace is good.
Apna desh bacha lo. Phir Nehruji ki tarah morality pe gyan dena aur non alignment, non alignment chillana.
But other than that - working with her can give you heart attacks. She herself has no life/personal life outside the firm and makes everyone like her.
In what regards is she inspirational? Other than being an extreme workaholic and money minter. I don't even see any reason why she wants to make even more money lol.
Trying to still hang in though
- Chief Proctor and RGNUL alum Karan Latayan identified by Newslaundry as a key figure. He has emailed students informing them that “doing politics” is banned and has banned the Safdar Hashmi Reading Circle and the Revolutionary Students League.
- Confirmed that students have held a protest on campus (completely blacked out by mainstream media)

Essentially, wanted to make a point that while people are infatuated with FIRE, the feeling of emptiness when they leave practice of law in a law firm (which creates massive dopamine and excitement and stress related brain liquids) - may be difficult for a lot of folks and not really what they want.
Also - most successful lawyers - because of thw attention given to law may not have great personal life.
What do you imagine doing with your time post FIRE? Generally, people only have vague ideas about it - travel, cafe, retire in hometown, stock markets, businesses, meeting friends, kids, etc. We are infatuated with a number of ideas. But this is infatuation. Like everything in life, one must try things to see if they actually love doing them.
I am a young person who comes from wealth / business family (I am comfortable). I genuinely love what I used to do in law.
Trauma creates great bonds!
Policies are amended to suit MP, Vij and Bhasin. The HR browbeat the junior lawyers and harass them.
More partner departures are on the cards. One the profitable partners leave, Vij Bhasin and MP can manage themselves.
Thoughts?
The freshers joining are also not comparable to Mumbai or Delhi office A0s...it's almost as if they choose the worst lot to populate at ahmedabad
Did you switch to the Tier 3 for a little more money or exposure to a wider range of practice areas or both?
Could you try going back to the boutique? - If the exit was good? Your PQE may make you valuable elsewhere.

What is the legal action someone can take if a person dies due to heart attack in a 15 Hr non stop flight and the pilot refuses to divert the flight..no help from crew, infact threatened the family members that they will put them in the back of the flight.
This is flight from Canada to India. Air Canada was the airline
Can some aviation lawyer help here. Don't want any compensation as per Montreal Convention. Need to hold people accountable
I feel like a total loser cause I am one. I tried a lot. I spoke to all my connects being a first gen lawyer and not having a lot of friends in college I have exhausted all my connects and hopes with that. I just don't know what to do. I don't see any openings on fresher level even in very small set up. I keep scrolling on LinkedIn all the time. I keep mailing people. Calling them. I apply to any and every place I see. It just doesn't work out.
The reason I'm writing this here is cause I just want you people to tell me what is it that I did so wrong that I can't land a job? I just wanted to be a corporate lawyer. I think about killing myself at times because it's just not working out anymore. Please help me in whatever you can. Help me with any insights that might get me a job.
Even if you dont agree with everything the student said- think back to when you were 17- didnt you ever say things you regretted? should you have been suspended for saying something? should you have been the subject of national media? its ridiculous.
I taught Mukundan- hes fairly bright and capable. One of the few students in his batch who arent at jindal because they couldnt get in anywhere else. If yall go around killing your own like this- good luck.
