Aside from the massive difference in tuition payable as well as living expenses, if I do somehow gain admission to a really good JD program (which I do realise is itself quite difficult), would it make sense to do that over doing an LLB program in India? Would an Indian passport holder with a JD from HYS/NYU/UChicago etc be employable at all outside of India?
All the best for your internship.
Strange accusation
Why spend political capital in EC etc
You are misguiding others. Check this link for the latest ranking of world's top 300 law schools as per QS World University Rankings by Subject Law 2023
https://www.topuniversities.com/university-subject-rankings/law-legal-studies?tab=indicators
This is true that only Jindal Global Law School & National Law School Bangalore are two institutes who find place in world's top 300 law schools from India ever.
Rank 84 O.P. Jindal Global University
Sonepat, India
Rank 201-250 National Law School of India University
Bangalore, India
What is this shows any lack of transparency?
I loved Fali, mostly for his chapter on School of Hard Knocks in his autobiography. Must read.
Also, he lived up to those values except when he did the Bhopal Gas Tragedy matter for Union Carbide (for which he expressed regret).
Interestingly, when he became a member of Rajya Sabha, he quit practicing altogether, which is a huge sacrifice of several crores for a lawyer of his stature.
People are saying he did not train juniors. It is true that he was not like KKV or Ashok Desai, but he did prod Junior Nariman to take up judgeship, which did a lot of good to our system.
He kept writing till the end, spreading awareness about the values of the constitution, for no financial incentive. He clearly did not lack money.
And he was 95 not 91.
Like all of us, he was not perfect. But he was an example to far too many people than you or I will ever be.
Anecdote: I once saw Shyam Divan tell Fali that he wanted to meditate but did not find the time. Fali responded by saying that he lacked inclination and not time. He said there is always time when there is inclination.
Also why is NUJS/NKC facing contempt? You say that Rs 80 lacs have been released. What is holding up Rs 50 lacs?
Also will it create a bad/pretentious/spoilt brat impression if I wear a Seiko series 5 watch? Or should I just stick to my smart watch?
Note: I know that a lot of question on intern attires have been asked on LI, but noticed that 99% of them are asking about female attires.
Infrastructure: lack of proper maintenance causes the so-called infrastructural superiority of GNLU to be rundown. It is nothing like the photos on the website but they charge an exorbitant amount for maintenance and hostel fees. The food is terrible and inedible at times with the mess overrun by cockroaches. The tube lights in the hostel and the classrooms, 0.8, even where faculties Frequent are perpetually hanging down so as to fall off.
Administration and liberty: idk about the boys hostel but in the girls hostel, the warden Manisha and others barge in at midnight into your room with security and goes through all your belongs at 1 or 2
in the morning whilst making snide comments. You can't even approach the Registrar or faculty wardens or director to address the rudeness showed by the administrative staff because they just don't care about you. One of the faculty wardens, harsha, suggests that we don't like having the warden and security barge in at 2 in the morning since we have something to hide. As if, the cupboards are rusted, the beds creaky and loosely jointed, the draws of the desk never opening or closing and the rusted rickety chairs we get are capable of hiding stuff. Meanwhile, the University spends crores in constructing faculty lounges when student's keep asking the Administration to do something about the wildlife crisis on campus, snakes and langurs.
Activities: non existent since SAC was disbanded, moots are subpar with no proper guidelines to improve your memo, and co-curriculars are plain sad since the faculty and Administration gets involved in everything.
Placements and internship: thankfully, the internship amd placements are good since the faculty convenor of CRA, Nidhi Buch, is fantastic. She involves the students and is always open to suggestions. Also, Nisha Trivedi is quite efficient.
My opinion would be for you to try to get into NLUJ. Don't waste your time, effort and hardworking in GNLU which is helmed by Shanthakumar and his gujarati masters. Also, check out the Gujarat HC views on how the university is run.
I'm not talking about writing private letters, but actually protesting. Not a single student did so! They may write two or three letters against CAA, and that will be it.
NLUJ on 1 and 4
(I'm at T2 NLU kid)
Wait for a stage managed "capture" likely during the time when PM will be visiting Bengal. That's another stage show as well.
Tales of kettle and pot.

Kudos to the victim, the journalist, the newspaper management, the judiciary and most importantly the retired judge who conducted the inquiry for being steadfast in revealing this institutional cover-up and complicity.
This wasn't about political offspring doing what they usually do. But the entire institution, actively and tacitly coming together to shield the accused. Was it just about shielding someone powerful and traffic in personal and pecuniary favours? Or is GBLU admin afraid that this exposure may lead to a domino effect and more horrors will come to light.
The Registrar and VC need to go as also the entrenched ecosystem allowing institutional abuses.
TMT TEAM
That said if you're willing to move say 2-3 years down the line to a place that has a less stressful partnership process, no harm in building up savings with the Trilegal moolah and the learning curve that HM's team would offer - came across a junior partner of his (someone with the same surname as the Delhi CM) and he was pleasant enough, but this was a brief interaction. Raghubir's team on the other hand was very easy to work across - reasonable and smart folks and very (painfully) thorough - worked across them extensively on a fairly tedious transaction.
When NUJS controversy and litigation erupted, the VC quietly shut down its online courses
gave certificate to all the past students, stopped new enrollments, terminated contract with online course partner enhelion and there was no problem whatsoever
Back in NUJS, the only purpose was doing politics over this, so students were made to suffer, enquries launched, knowing fully well that NUJS will lose every case eventually
And it happened because SJA was in an activist mode, nobody had any reason to protect long term interests of the university, EC just wanted to make sure it does not stick to them
The bill is being paid along with interest and compensation only now
congrats NUJS
But letβs also be clear about CAA before posting on Twitter and holding protestsβ- the law fast tracks citizenship for non-Muslims in Muslim countries. It does NOT take away citizenship from Indian Muslims. Thatβs completely wrong propaganda which was spread on social media last time.
in this case the HC did no such thing because there was no material before it to do so
only in legallyindia any such allegation of scam etc were ever made
Fictional and baseless
Why don't you have a fair regard for my Lovely and Healthy appreciation of law?
Sh Shahjahan will be paraded out just like the Sarada boss. All stage managed. Time was required to destroy, dilute incriminating evidence. The same thing happened with Sarada, Rose Valley bosses and also with the IPS officer who is now the DG.
Who knows maybe it is the same secure location that hosted the concerned IPS officer.
Shahjahan wasn't important just because of his muscle power for vote capture. As with Vinay Mishra, he is an important player in the money trail, which is way more important. Hence the whole-of-govt effort in shielding him.
In the worst case scenario, he will be liquidated. And then another politics will start.
And don't single out TMC. Everyone is in it, including the principal opposition that is shouting the loudest.
1 % of lawyers - the elite IRS
99 % of lawyers
and that if you score really well you might even get a room to yourself, is it true??
Have you ever considered that unlike you, we are not obsessed about this issue. But we won't allow you to pass your drivel as the truth.
Why aren't you having the charlatan ex-SJA Prez hauled up by the EC?
I studied law from a private law school in a Mid tier city . I had decent grades and had also some internships with Top Tier Law Firms. Our College placements were at an all time low due to the covid crisis in the country and though i had always focused on getting placed in the corporate team or as an in-house however destiny had its own plan and got me to Delhi wherein i joined a relatively small law firm based out of Defence Colony in New Delhi. Mind you, i had no plans of doing litigation. Had a great great stint of almost 2 years with the firm doing all sorts of civil, commercial, consumer, insolvency and arbitration matters. Also got abundant opportunities to draft and argue. Everything was going great but the only issue was finances. The pay was peanuts even after 2 years, somewhere around (25-30k). In the meantime, towards the end of 2023 i got a call from a well established company in Gurgaon that they were on the lookout for a legal counsel and if i was interested in the position. Without giving much thought i went for the interview and got selected as well. They offered me a great package as well (around 8 lpa) but now one month into the new job and i feel absolutely bored. I think that i am not being productive enough, a lot of my friends told me that this could be due to a change in the working environment as in litigation you always have your hands full and are never free to chill around. Now i don't find my current job to be as demanding as i would like it to be . I dont find sitting on a desk as thrilling as arguing infront of a judge. I dont find compliance and excel sheets as much fun as researching on SCC and putting forward your own interpretation of a certain aspect of law. I miss litigation and this in house job is not suiting me, i am only here because they pay handsomely. What should be my next career step? Continue the in-house practice and take home a huge chunk of money without any botheration or application of mind or switch back to litigation? Also, if i want to switch back, how and where to apply? Any suggestions/leads would be highly appreciated.
You must have complained against NKC for continuing with expensive and meaningless litigation, which have resulted in massive loss of revenue in addition to losses caused by a reckless SJA Prez. Again, what is the EC doing? Why isn't it listening to you? What about other powerful people you know?
Why didn't the EC initiate an inquiry against NKC for making unauthorized payments to iPleaders, which he claims were under directions from the court? Why no action against VC for mismanagement of UGC funds despite your complaint to Chancellor and EC?
Most importantly, why have you not complained to the VC/EC against ex-SJA Prez? Ofc he graduated in 2018 but he always responds to inquiries.
Why and how is it that the EC agreed with him (even after he had graduated) but you cannot move the EC despite your proximity? Don't say that the EC didn't give you an opportunity. You actually scooted.
By the way you were very much in the AC when that Noojie exposed the scam. Despite your personal presence and that of your friends/collaborators, how is that the AC placed the ban and EC ratified it after a thorough discussion?
Still, my parents managed to put me and my sibling (going to Amity - non-law) through college for those 5 years.
I had a substantial scholarship, so that helped immensely, also did not have to pay hostel fees for a couple of years because of COVID.
Trust me, no one considers you poor when at JGU and if they do, you're hanging out with the wrong crowd. Some people may be privileged to take it for granted or not comprehend how one does not have money to buy/ do something they can do on a whim. But mostly, people don't give 2 cents about background. I met plenty of humble people there and have good friends.
People do not generally engage in immature money d**k measuring contests and only those who do care who's poor and who's not. Because in the larger scheme of things, my family still forms part of the top 5-10% and yours in the top 1%.

Where is the lie? Undue influence? He is citing stuff from NUJS' own record. This student is also naming you and others. He is also citing EC record to show that the EC unanimously (including NKC) rejected the shoddy Prof Maitra Inquiry Report.
If everything, as you say, was done transparently and allegations made by SJA was found incorrect, why isn't NUJS making the inquiry reports public? Why is it stonewalling relevant RTIs?
It is true that PIB tried to hide away various inquiry and review reports. But those did become public. Some even say that you helped with the disclosure. Why not do the same here?
At least show the EC records (since you have special access) which clearly tells that all those inquiries initiated by the EC in 2018 and 2019 have been completed and EC has now closed the matter formally.
I think you might mean 5 NLS graduates, no? Is that correct? Where are they doing their postdocs?
Thinking whether I should give CLAT again or just use contacts to get internships
Do not worry about coming across as desperate. Being clear and respectful in your approach does not make you a desperate. Take clarity and move ahead, whichever way it is.
Non existent
To your credit you convinced a gullible ec that something is fishy
EC stopped distance courses, ignored contracts with EC, started various enquiries
With time, what had to happen happened
Cases were proven before courts and enquiries came to naught
Results are for everyone to see :)
Be clear that switching jobs is also the toughest given the dearth of firms who want lawyers to do income tax. No company would hire you for your tax expertise as the litigation work is outsourced by the companies and inhouse work is taken care of the by the CA along with the litigation work.
Good luck !
this could not be proven in court because it is a lie, simple as that
Legallyindia needs to stop giving a platform to these malicious lies after an entire cycle of litigation has happened
Its not like EC applied its mind to legal issues or heard all involved
SJA prez made a presentation before EC, EC went into a pnic, shut down everything
then NUJS got sued
And still paying the price of that days misadventure
Are these worth ?
1. There was a scam - this was not proven, all enquiries failed to find any wrong doing
2. That online courses were illegal - held otherwise by HC and SC after 4 years of litigation
3. As a consequence of cancellation and breach of contract NUJS had to pay 80 lakhs in compensation to iPleaders and 50 lakhs more under litigation
4. On top of this, students are filing consumer cases and getting 100% refund along with compensation from NUJs
5. Since 2018, NUJS has 0 revenue from distance education as a result of this misadventure
Can you still not see how your activism has costed the university dearly? Do you have any remorse or shame?
