PS: Girls, please do go for pap smears! This shouldn't be ignored.
What do firms get by being this level of petty?
I really do not think she is a good teacher or a good person. I'm saying this while at the same time I have deep respect for AA and think he is a great teacher (aside from some off tone behavior).
Coming back to her, her classes are taught by reading the statue line by line. Furthermore, she does not engage with her supposed area of expertise, the Transgender Act with any kind of proper knowledge. She may be hard-working but does not understand how to deal with college age students.
Also, please work hard in the office. Help the college out.

When I was shortlisting my college, I chose a particular college because it had hundreds of acres big campus, a swimming pool, a movie theater, all sorts of sports facilities, fast food giants in-house, gaming arena, gym, etc. etc.
Mind you, all these facilities were very reasonably priced or free.
I literally had thought to myself that over 5 years I would not leave any of these facilities unused.
But hua kuch ni.
Cut to my job at a Tier 1 firm, I can tell you we had a steam/ shower facility, gym, recreational room etc. But since no one really used these things, the rooms were being used as a record room.
Toh yeh jo tune now tell me which law firm offers these pucha haina. Iska koi matlab nahi hai. Agar maangna hai toh time maang. Jitne paise tere retainer ke taxation mein waise bach jaaye unse yeh sab mauj masti karliyo.
TLDR - Ask for time not perks.
you get foreign degree as well as NLUD stamp

I'm 3rd gen into general corp lit., and I laugh hard when someone 1st gen talk about lit.
Should I completely shave it or leave it as a stubble beard or something shorter?
Good mentors who take an interest in training juniors.
Current salary for A0 associate is 75k-85k and trainee associates are getting 60k pm.
Especially considering that sum total of the first will never match the second?
Gasli khane ke liye nahin
So there you are.
Also what is the hiring process like?
I am a person who hates any sort of mathematics to the core. So naturally I cannot imagine myself doing a job involving quants for rest of my life for a slightly better paycheck who a similar hectic WLB.
Depends, on the partner an the procedure you are about to undergo. The retainer sucks it up and works from home if the partner is kind enough. If the the partner is a hotheaded hotshot then you might need to suck it up a bit more.
Otherwise if you are staffed with a partner who does txns of less than INR 100Cr. but acts as if they are sakshaat "Blackrock/KKR", then you MIGHT have a bit of trouble and MIGHT need to give the partner a reality check (do this at your own risk, it certainly helps if you are better at your job than the partner).
There is noone kinder than the one who gives a reality check to, and exposes the mediocrity of, the partner.

On the 2nd floor, most of the rooms suffer from year-round leakage from the ceiling, which is sewage water from the washrooms on the 3rd floor.
The 1st floor is literally vandalized. The latches on nearly all of the doors have been broken, so students spend the first 2 days with doors that can't be locked!
Also there is the problem of constant dust pollution at BH4 because of the new stadium construction.
It baffles me that IPS, IAS, IRS and IFS use the same exam to recruit - it is complete bs. Do an American style recruitment minus the regular flittering around of such officials to private sector on hefty salary, Tf will I do with so many optionals? It is of no use beyond the exam itself, and the failed aspirants soothe themselves by presenting themselves as knowledge reservoirs later in life, as though anyone with an internet access & curiosity couldn't get the same information. Such posts do not even pay well enough to justify staying years on end - why tf will I give the exam if I plan to quit the job in a few years? I lot of IRS officers/SEBI officials end up joining law firms as partners.
Make the job with a lucrative salary and a better selection process. Take the IRS out of the Government's control., beyond them just setting taxation rates. Make the promotion system based on performance rather than seniority and make it faster - the longer someone is at the helm, the better stability we have - rather than the current bs of changing every 2-2 years
I had a few friends try for UPSC after law school. It was their only plan. Out of all of them- one in my batch succeeded. The others just had years of CV gap with nothing to show for it and came into the workforce too old and tired to get as much of a running start. It was objectively a terrible decision for 90% of my batchmates to pursue this.
The upside to winning this lottery ticket- is still not that much of an upside. Maybe for someone from interior rural india who only craves some stability - sure. Sarkaari Naukri is good. But most people can find stability better by employing their talents elsewhere.
2. Consultancy is not an easy job. The work hours are in fact worse than law firms, considering the constant business trips and travelling. It takes a toll on a personβs mental and physical health. The lack of a uniform work-location is not good if you want to build other relationships outside of work. You are barely going to have time to engage in stuff which require you to stay at one place at least for a longer period of time without constant travelling. But money compensates for it and if you like the fast lifestyle, you may even like it.
3. Law-firms provide a relatively decent career progression with good money. While the money isnβt that great initially, the compounding effect of staying in at a law firm kicks in after yours 30s when you make partner at Tier 1s. But mind you, work hours and stress is similar or more at higher levels. Law-firm life is not as fast paced as consulting or IB/PE/VC so it gives you the time and opportunity to build relationships at one place but still many relationships turn sour due to the law firm work hours. However, the worst thing about law firms are the toxicity that runs through each floors in a law firm. At the same time, corporate lawyers are not viewed with same respect as that of counsels appearing in High Courts. The work of a transactional lawyer is mostly meaningless as the work that youβll be doing doesnβt justify the pay. All the major work is already done by a PE/IB/VC guy. Only post-negotiation transaction works are given to M&A lawyers who do the crumbs and residuary aspects of a transaction. It is mostly due diligence, drafting word docs which has no material value in the transaction honestly. Such work can be even done by low tier corporate firms.
4. IB/PE/VC has the worst work-life balance but the money is too good to be true. If you are in this field, forget about everything else in life and just console yourself with the money that you will be paid. A lot of trade-offs in this field but if you are obsessed with money, choose this field.
