No one said that the students were the ones who were catcalling; this isnβt GNLU. The concerned hostel is close to the boundary of the college premises, and therefore, pedestrians can directly see the terrace of this hostel and also some balconies. Consequently, a certain group of outsiders assembled in a spot and started catcalling students. The VC took cognizance of this issue as soon as she was informed of this custom. She promptly got CCTVs installed, contacted the police commissioners, and appointed two officers to get rid of this menace.
They have nothing better to do and they have the largest batch size among all NLUs. Hence, they upvote all the illogical comments praising this random NLU that's usually in the news for only wrong reasons otherwise.
Villagers on the road were indulging in this behaviour. Canβt expect to open NLUs in far flung interior villages and then be surrounded by decent people, can you?
Most NLUs have boys bidding on fresher girls and make a league out of it. So lack of decency is not something to be observed in uneducated villagers from 'interior' only.
its very costly to move out and hard in this profession, Trust me 99% women want to escape people like you who would do anything but put accountability on men and of course those men
I don't think that is the problem though. NUJS is in one of the best parts of the city, and we have a situation very similar to NLUJ here where random men from a neighbouring campus have been catcalling our female peers in the GH at night. This is not the first time, we have regular faceoffs with the students from JU who come to our campus gates with the sole purpose of abusing and intimidating us. Our VC will probably be writing a letter tomorrow regarding the recent incident to the dean of their campus, though it is doubtful that things will change.
Turns out it was a language gap and the innocent crowd was not even catcalling the girls. All these big city girls canβt understand the local language and snowballed a non-issue into a big 1.
Not defending the catcallers, but girls can give it back to them. These boys get emboldened when they see girls getting scared or running away. You can show them the middle finger, or catcall back. If they blow you a kiss you can pretend to catch it and put it in your pocket, and say that you will flush it down the toilet later.
says a man, who has obviously never experienced the fear of being assaulted/stalked by a man. don't be scared is bad advice, women have very good reason to be afraid, based on the behaviour of men every day. women know that reacting in any of the ways you've suggested will be seen as 'encouraging' them, there's no winning here
These guys were hurling slurs towards the girls, further in the past men have thrown bottles towards the girls hostels and there also has been an incident of a man pleasing himself directly facing the girls hostel.
How such sick minds join NLU?
