Really depends on what suits you.
Several students injured at multiple fights between different contingents of NLS and Nalsar.
Why does this need to be a recurring trend every Triseries?? Last time around in Nujs there was a brawl around Kabbadi.
This time however NLS seems to be mostly at fault being the instigator (My opinion feel free to refute)
It started with a couple of pleasantries and then transitioning into a session for the JMP to individually ask all the first and second year associates to answer why are their first draft of documents/notes, and I quote "absolute trash"? (Candidly speaking, I understand questioning associates that why their work is not up to management expectation, but not how it happened here, Stay Tuned)
Although all the associates tried self-evaluating their work and area for improvement, the JMP went ahead to individually embarrass them in front of the whole firm. The concerned partners to the associates were asked to openly answer back to the juniors and inform them why their work was "absolute trash".
Be that as it may, similar answer coming from majority associates, didn't concern the JMP, who went on to scold them individually (with a few of them onwards of 10 minutes on clock) stating her own understanding of why the drafts were not upto the mark.
I believe that this incidence was quite tolling for the fresh associates. A few days back, I came across an Email from a renowned firm which was in circulation, where the associates were targeted and embarrassed on mail in front of the entire team. Being fresh into the profession, away from home, working over the weekends with no compensatory offs, and then being embarrassed before the entire firm was too harsh a sight for me. Keeping aside this fiasco, the other red flags I spotted were in the answers to the following concerns-
Concern: Why should compensatory off not be given after completion of work, for working over the weekend? - Answer. Because during appraisals you are in a way compensated for that.
Concern: How punching in at dot 9:00 a.m. with even a minute delay resulting in salary deduction is justified?
Had I been aware of such incidences, I would have made different choices. Hope this helps someone.
dont do it for the sake of the rest of the batch
Second of all, a lot of you like to imagine that we'll "retire". I hate to break it to you but we won't go anywhere anytime soon. Say for instance, AJ & GR both have young kids studying in elite bombay schools. Both kids are less than 8 years of age. We intend on providing our kids with best of this elite education now and in the future (sweating funds for college). We'll stick around in law firms for as long as our health allows us. We need the money much more. Both wives of these men have taken on more relaxed roles professionally since bringing in their child.
Talking about behaviour and toxicity, you have to understand. We are people. Hamari zyada fatti hai. Client ke saamne hamara naam hai. Any mistake, and we are more so legally responsible than juniors in the team. Obviously the stress is too much. The saying of lawyers in T1 drink, smoke and party hard so much is to keep up with the stress is true.
Yes, we've also gone through similar conditioning. At our time, the favouritism was insane. The Shroffs would literally destroy your career if they didn't like you. NLU preference was a real thing. Back then track to partnership was in 8 years.
But tbh, hamari zyada gaand fatti hai. If we don't discipline you in the way we know how or learned, God knows what will happen to the work product. But none of that matters tumhare bonus ka share toh kaatenge hi ;) I know AJ & GR cut A0s bonuses. Yes, they're a little too much. A lot actually. But hey, that's the game. They struggled through their days and made it. Fair to say the competition and politics was lesser as now there are just too many young lawyers from too many colleges aspiring to make it here. Hate the game, not the players. Let me also say this, partner vohi banega Jo hume pasand hai. Your "work product" will not take you as far as you think ;)
How can I land a different type of job that does not burn me out and has decent working hours and pay?
Please guide
1. S&R - 3
2. Khaitan - 1
3. Trilegal - 1
any field work/human rights/research internship suggestions?
While I have heard lot of good things about KCO, I have mixed reviews about JSA and Trilegal.
If someone could help me know the real situation of work culture, timings, salary and perks in B&F team JSA (Mumbai) and KCO (Mumbai), it will be really helpful.
Since April is the best time to apply, quick response would be highly appreciated.
Tysm
Middle class and lower classes glorify it as they are enamored by the "prestige" it carries in eyes of the majority and also the supposed "perks". It also attracts "mota dahej"
What does the retainers who need to undergo a surgery do in such cases where recovery period is needed?
Also, his son is a finance grad from the UK who is now a professional MMA fighter --- which reinforces the point about chasing your passion.
Don't fall for everything written on LI, most of it is by uninformed law students who love conjectures and hyperbole.
If anyone could share their experience with this, it would be great. I'm trying for an internship at the Bangalore office.
Neither should that wealth be shared with garden pichda drunkard wifebeater type guys who lives of their labouring wife's money
Airtel, considered a good paymaster among Indian conglomerates, in 2020 had around 60+ employees who were earning more than 1cr. These 60 employees in all certainty have 15+ years of MBA PQE. Minimum age of these employees would be 40 (uninformed guess). Best work life balance.
MBB consulting might pay close to those numbers once you are at a principal or equivalent level. One can attain this level, provided they survive the needs of the firm, at 6 years MBA PQE. Minimum age of these consultants would be 30+. Work life balance takes a hit but still doable.
Top law firm only pays this amount to non equity partners and above. I am assuming a minimum of 10+ years PQE. Work-work imbalance.
Investment Banking, Private Equity, Hedge Funds, Venture Capital, AIFs, MFs might pay such amount at an earlier PQE but I don't have any clue. Most I could find was unverifiable rumours of IITB guys and IIMA guys being hired for 50+LPA and 1+CRPA respectively. Although these are the upper limits, the median IMO should not vary by more than 20%. PQE does not matter in this case. Work life balance depends, IB is worse than law firms and VC is pretty chill.
Most of the students who get into top law firms on merit are smart enough to choose any of the other career paths. Plus expert knowledge of a particular subject is not a pre-requisite in any of these fields. These are all learn as you work jobs which require an above average problem solving ability. The options apart from law firms are also in almost all certainly are much well managed simply because of how they are structured.
Assuming that the above information is true, which might not be, and if it is not please correct me in the thread, what makes law a logical choice of profession to pursue?
i have an interview with the B&F team of kco and this time partner will be taking the interview what to read also he also does insolvency work(mix) but more of B&F
suggest what to prepare
Or is there a good lecture series or a book which explains company law in such a simple manner?
(1)Huge presence of INC fans
(2)Huge presence of social justice bheems

The amount of money you can potentially earn might even bring out cartoonish dollar signs (or rupee signs) in your eyes, but really it's an elaborate trap. It's a drug used to make you forget your ambitions. Due to lifestyle inflation, status, and show-off culture, people borrow money to buy cars and homes, keeping them in debt and forcing them to continue working to maintain their lifestyle.
Sometimes we are also forsaking family and friends to chase that high. I have missed out on so many family events, worked during my brother's marriage (not just on that day, but literally during the ceremony).
Traditionally, to be a mainstream politician one would have to spend years pretending to work on issues close to the constituency they hoped to represent.
Nowadays, some have tried to break that 'hard-working' mould. For this, you must gain admission to a foreign institution that has some name recognition in India. We know that a half-decent student from a good law school in India can get into a LLM (without scholarship) at LSE. But, most of India does not. They think ki aisa hi toe brilliant aadmi chahiye public life mein.
One you have gained admission, try out your hand at the institutional electoral process. If you win, then you get additional brownie points in India for the gora's stamp of approval. You must get Indian newspapers to run stories of your triumph. Obviously! However, in all fairness, you do not expect to win. So you run a campaign that you know will get you attacked during the electoral process. You use these words to get news stories run in India about how you stood up to anti-India 'speech.'
You return and hope you have been able to generate enough of a name for yourself to be offered some tucha space on the political ladder in India.

Any winner here who can help.
secondly, your argument seems to be that JGLS is no different from the bad practices at NLUS, smaller private law colleges and state universities when it comes to allocation of teaching load vis-a-vis the subject expertise. so basically you are confirming what a lot of people have been saying for a while - that there is nothing special about JGLU when it comes to academic practices and standards. Hence only an idiot would pay that fee and study there
What happened to them?
And please tell us how to save ourselves from these barbaad Gen Z noise makers in future...
Though heard nowadays is billing is not up-to mark. I am an A2 can consider?
