We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Looks like tier 3 students prefer judiciary more
Some comments on the thread below. My first thought is that if these are the type of questions asked in the UPSC, then surely NLU grads have a chance of doing very well? Maybe it's time more NLU grads think of giving this exam, even at the cost of 2 years prep?
"Kids, the only thing that matters is good handwriting."

"This is so worthless. Dumping Oppenheimer story in basic english - verbose & pointless. Our priorities seem skewed when we test outdated skills in exams instead of nurturing critical thinkers and innovators. We urgently need to reassess this exam and the candidates."
"Good but it seems written by a 10th grader rather than the UPSC CSE AIR 1. Grammatical mistakes and lack of connection between the lines described make this a doubtful essay."
"bro waffled his way to ias"
"UPSC also you have to underline keywords like in board exam?"

1. Gave verbal intimation Jan 05, and sent official email to resign on Jan 09. Received one liner email that my last day is Feb 15.
2. Got Covid so couldn't go to office from Feb 12 to Feb 15, but requested WFH (shared report as well). Never received response on that. But kept working, attended meetings.
3. Have submitted my laptop to firm.
4. Still recieved notice saying submit laptop and pay money for rest of the notice period (which is for the entirety of 90 days, but this was never mentioned before that my notice period is not waived off)
Issue: Future employment- what will be issues when i apply to next job? Do law firms care for such things and will they check so in background check?
God help you when you are into your professional career, you'll be fucked up more and more.
It's better your go for a sarkari Naukri, atleast your incompetence would be overlooked

Do remember this is the only way for you, day zero/college placement is not an option because that is 90% marks
Baaki figure kar lenge
I have heard the Advocates in District court create nuisance for judges a lot and go on strikes hampering the judicary. Plus see the Shi*Ty infrastructre of courts.
I fucking went to HC of lucknow just to see Gutka been spit on its premises. the Disctrict courts are so bad in infra and very less security. Last year a criminal was shot in premises of Lucknow district court.
If you cannot reach the HC and SC judiciary then its not good enough considering you can be transferred to some of the worst districts which you have never even heard of.
- First of all wait till the elections. How the TMC performs will be a sign of who will win in 2026. Depending on the result, a lot of secularists could become saffron overnight, or vice versa. You kids should understand one thing: most grown-ups have zero ideology except self-interest.
- Like last time, the TMC will try to rig the selection panel and push through its own candidate, via Kishore Datta. They will want either NKC again or a local TLC professor.
- The CJI will appoint a nominee to the panel. It will very likely be Justice Dipankar Datta. He will be outnumbered by the TMC men, but an SC judge’s word does have clout and he can insist on a transparent process if he wishes to do so
- If Datta takes an active role and insists on a transparent appointment, you could see a lot of good people applying, including NLU alumni.
- My own bet is on Faizan Mustafa getting the job. The TMC won’t mind too much, while those unhappy with NKC will see him as an improvement.
Your work and work ethic is. But look for teams and firms which are hiring or have vacancies.
You don't want to be interning with a team that aren't looking to hire
Also, no it's not about merit. If there are multiple people, it gets tougher to stand out, which only actually matters, merit is bs at this stage.
JNU is and will remain among the premier institutes for humanities in India.
Whatever is listed in an NDA agenda will be accelerated. Pat close attention to what Amit Shah has said over the years.
Judiciary reforms in the form of judges appointment, no one cares about NLUs apart from NLU-elites.
Rahul won't win.
Riots, yes, in pockets. Will be ignored by central government as if they don't exist like Manipur situation, unfortunately.
In past years good selection from ILS,Pune
Hi, I am look forward to connect with other professionals , I need information about moving from my native place to a metro. Can we connect ?
Pls drop me a mail

So you could might as well just name the firm, let there be competition, the person with higher merit will get the job.
My comment simply states that congratulate the candidate, not the institution, since it was not the institution's job to help her excel in CSE. GNLU or any NLU does not provide classes on CSE. It's a law school, not a CSE coaching institute. If this was the judiciary, then it would have made sense since the institution is in line with judiciary and allied exams. However, people here & all over LI are tooting their own horn, whether it's NLS, GNLU or any other NLUD.
CSE, if you've given it you would know, is unlike other exams. It's more your preparation than the institutions. This is like those coaching institutes that admit 100 aspirants and when one succeeds with their own hardwork, they hijack it as their own.
Grow up. No NLU prepares you for competition exams. It's all on you. So congratulations to the candidate not the institution.
Now the problem is that someone named X donated the property in his family claiming to be the son of G▮▮▮ Ji. There is no person in our family ever named S▮▮▮ Ji.
They property is under the names of X's family members.
Can My family claim it? If yes then how? All families will co-operate to regain the acquisition of the land.
Except for CAM having a strict Internship and hiring policy, other firms do take in interns and give out PPOs and the HRs usually don't have much of a say for PPOs.Try talking to your mentor or SAs or PAs in your internship. If the partner is approachable then approach him.
Before you do this, make sure your work speaks for you. You should be good at what you do.
HRs are just for namesake in firms. Impress the team and you'll be good
Kinda like what happens in the UK, US, Australia
At times volunteering to be someone's knife can be career enhancing. But it is like riding a tiger. Many fail, few succeed.
Really not trying to be a troll here - NLUD may not have the most active placements, but in terms of career outcomes with respect to Delhi judiciary (possibly the toughest judicial services exam to clear) and UPSC, NLUD leads the pack by a mile.
For years people kept quibbling about why many at NLUD don't sit for placements. You have your answer.
This is great motivation for all NLU students.
So JAG needn't necessarily become the next LM. Another reason will be that many in the SC wouldn't want a "junior" to be the LM. There is a chance he may become a deputy to HM or some such ministry, which can be used to shower largesse/armstrong the WB govt.
Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development etc
Will long-pending reforms be accelerated?
What about judicial reforms, NLU reforms and entry of foreign law firms?
If Rahul wins, will his plan to redistribute wealth be bad for the economy?
Will there be riots if UCC and CAA are implemented?
Then you have HSA, DLL, kochaar etc in rung two
That being said, your CGPA may be relevant in some other ways. For instance, while I was recommended for a PPO by a Delhi-partner, my PPO interview was conducted by a Mumbai-based partner. I was required to send in my CV in advance, which of course indicated my grades. While I was not asked any questions related to it, it remains difficult to ascertain whether it made any tangible difference in the Mumbai-based partner's approval for my candidacy. In firms (like Trilegal - notorious for offering call-backs/interviews to a large number of students) where the interview is consequential and not merely formal, your chances may improve with better grades.
2. After the initial few years the other firms match trilegal pay if not more.
3. It is not the firm but the partner, if I have found a good partner great work and he shifts his team to azb, I'm going to azb. The firm in the end doesn't matter, the person who you ultimately work for matters
I am currently in my 5th year and have an internship scheduled with LegaLogic in Pune, I am aiming to secure a job through the PPO route, considering I am not from a Tier-1 Law College.
Any help and suggestions would be highly appreciated.
1. Work culture
2. Pay
3. Internship and PPO policies
Not a defender of LI pointlessly, but don’t get disappointed so easy. Life in itself is very disappointing.
And if people are smart enough and are right in their stance - don’t go faceless man! Just like sly politics, it’s the easiest.
What are the top 5 things to nail when performing work?
How to nail the other non-work related things? (eg: dressing (for women specifically), communication, presentation at the end of the internship, anything else?)
And if any of you have insights on how an internship in the transactions team is different from tier 3 vs tier 1?
"fellow
adjective [ before noun ]
used to refer to someone who has the same job or interests as you, or is in the same situation as you.
Example: She introduced me to some of her fellow students."
I guess the Cambridge Dictionary really cooked you with its literal first example.
