Everything feels pretty hollow and numbed. The one thing I guess keeps me going is the responsibility of a family and the fact that if I have suffered so long, might as well continue to see what else can happen.
the MP is horrific to work with. Long hours, constant abuse and MC BC is regular. They will not even pay you on time. 7 ki jagah 9-10 tak bhi denge (you are fucked if you have EMIs and living paychek to paycheck).
Tereko 10-15 bhi de dein to bahut hai.
Although London and Oxbridge are not affected, there is violence in Manchester, Leicester etc, where some people do go to study law. Anyone heard any stories?
as for legal relevance, expect shitloads of litigation if India hosts d olympics and also legal work in conducting d Olympics, which will be happening in Ahd so more work for CAM Ahd office
OR you're one of those kids who were obviously tested across the one lakh students in law schools across India to be ranked.
They consider only NLU grads ig
I don't know... I'm just a random British-Indian kid that studies law at university in the UK. One of my tutors last year was one of 'em PhD students from India of which there are a few in the UK these days. Once, as me and my mate were leaving a class, I was saying to him (my mate, that is, he's from Malaysia) that the best thing to do for having a few laughs in Britain was to pick up a British newspaper and read about politics in the UK. My tutor, he overheard, and he stopped by us and, if you'll believe it lads, he says to us, 'You'll never know what "having a few laughs" means until and unless you have been blessed and cursed by the knowledge of, and the desire to visit, this website called Legally India. You don't need to spend 10 pounds a month of a subscription for having a few laughs, you can do it every day for nothing!'.
I asked him if it was possible for someone to be 'blessed and cursed' at the same time, and all he said was, 'You will see'. Now I've seen this website, I think I understand what he meant. :)
As others have suggested, if this is not a financial burden on your family: GO FOR IT. I am a first generation lawyer from a small town, and went through these phases. Luckily, my family pushed me to go out and gather experience. You can take a more informed about the remaining opportunities in your future years after your first internship.
Go with an open mind, and try to absorb what the world is like. Don't worry about excelling and other objectives at this stage. You are in a stage when you can experiment, hence do that whole heartedly. Wishing you all the best.
And then there’s the non-financial impact: stress, worry, peer pressure to spend and flaunt brands, pressure to buy expensive gifts if you have a high-maintenance girlfriend etc.
😰😫
ICUL in Chennai hardly pays Rs. 35K to freshers across all teams.

Also, the boxer from Hungary should be punished with a 1 year ban. She reposted offensive memes about Imane on her Instagram and after losing the match she made XX signs with her fingers, to convey that she has XX chromosomes and Imane has XY.
Finally, for the 100th time: you can be a woman despite XY chromosomes if you identify as one mentally. The biological concept of sex has been rendered obsolete by countless gender studies scholars, including professors at Harvard, Yale… you name it. Even Justice Chandrachud has advocated the use of “pregnant person” and not “pregnant woman”.
It’s really sad how trolls on LI are normalising hate.
Any other NLU can confirm?
Why were people not crying out when he hadn’t stolen opportunities from women ? Because he hadn’t stolen opportunities from women. People aren’t angry for aesthetic reasons - people are angry because this is wrong to put women through this.
No one is arguing that there isn’t a woman out there who cannot beat him, or that he will always be on top of his game and never throw a match. What people are arguing is that his biology confers an unfair advantage. 3 Olympian women have now stated how they feel it’s unfair - are they all just imbeciles and losers ?
why the eff are comments not being published it's day zero season ffs
NLIU- T1
NLUO- far better placement recs and foreign LLMs
HNLU- okayish placements, not better than NLUO
MNLU- v new
These are all women who are at the top of their country for boxing - they’ve beaten out every woman in their country. They’re not afraid of boxing and they’re not untrained idiots. They know that it’s different when a man beats you as opposed to a woman. Men of the same size and muscle mass have 162% more punching power than women.
We’re not deciding who is pretty or dainty or feminine enough and we’re not deciding who we invite to girls trip. The people speaking up about this are not big old meanies. This is about safety and fairness for women.
There are right wing men saying how it’s unfair, there’s left wing women saying it’s unfair, 80 something percent of female athletes want to bring back genetic sex tests.
People on this thread defending this: If you don’t think there’s something off about this whole thing. If your natural response is to think “ I hate the other team so they must be wrong”. You should take a good long look at whether you’re more attached to your team than principles like standing up for womens rights for safety and fairness and equality. Your politics then might be completely devoid of any real concern for the oppressed and just a cynical play for power. Re-examine your priors.
Feeling very low and depressed. Going to reach out to recruiters and firms who hopefully understand my situation. Is there anyone else like me? I remember reading about an A0 who was fired from CAM/SAM due to practice area rotations.
NLUO doesn’t do much besides getting a Corp job. Not sure about the Mooting and ADR culture as well.
Mumbai is a great advantage and classes ended by 12.30 so running internship is possible.
Lastly, this coming from a PPO holder, so I do know the placement stats and the industry. Thanks though for your time.
Now, if you look at the list of the Fortune 1,000 companies India (links below) nearly 80% are companies owned by families or individuals: Ambani, Adani, Tata, Birla, Jindal, Mittal, Nadar, Premji, Murthy, Kotak, Goenka, Hinduja, Damani, Godrej, Munjal, Srinivasan, Piramal, Wadia, Kunwar, Dalmia, etc. Also political figures like Jagan Mohan Reddy etc. If we can tax 20 crore annually from these 800 families + another 9,000 or so families (more industrialists, politicians, lawyers, rich farmers etc) then we can gather Rs 100,000 crore (USD 11 billion) in taxes annually and offset the burden on the common man by waiving income taxes for the lower brackets and lowering GST on essential items. Rs 20 crores a year is peanuts for these families.

or a marketing jumla ?
Do you really think she just strolled up to the arena whilst on a walk on Paris, thought "I'll give this boxing business a go", and was thrown completely off guard over being punched?
Maybe the fact that an Olymic-level athlete had to forfeit after less than a minute might signal that something isn't right.
Crazy thought, but maybe she forfeited because she's very familiar with what it feels like to be punch in the face by another woman and she has the experience to be able to tell whether her opponent is or isn't another woman.
No Professor ever talks about LI in any formal or informal meeting.
NLSIU, NLUO, DSNLU, CNLU and maybe a few NLUs have already began 3 years LLB. What are your thoughts on this given the 5 years program and NLUs were started to phase out 3 years LLB. It seems to have come full circle.
1. Foreign placements - Yes (Clifford and Chance)
2. LLM - Yes (Cambridge, NYU, Oxford, Duke etc).
3. Domestic Placements - internships for top 10 rankers of the Batch for all tier-1s. And if you’d be aware placements are a thing anymore, PPOs are.
According to you Marathi speaking students shouldn’t attend college or learn English. If you can appreciate diversity don’t join Law school.
“4 generations” - talk about being so unaware of your surroundings.
Another day another blinded folk
if not how much it pays?
or how much does ELP pay in competition?
fixed and variable?
Kindly stop spreading misinformation , irrelevant of what the intention is.
Either somehow contribute to this medal tally that you seem so pressed about the inadequacy of - compete yourself, sponsor an athlete, sponsor a training institute, campaign for better resources and government support, make a difference - or [shut up and go back to .......]
Getting confirmed internship at 2 chambers at the same time,
Siddharth Luthra and Wadhwa's chambers.
Please suggest, which one to choose.
There are plenty of people of color including women of colour- including me- who saw that match and saw a male beating a female and winning an olympic medal for it. consider why you hate white people so much that you think its funny when white women are beaten by men. And ask yourself if that actually makes you a good person.
You dont even know do you? you dont know that the people who have pushing back to save womens sport the longest are women, and theyre women who have worked within the second wave feminist movement, theyre female athletes, theyre lesbians. J.K. Rowling- who im sure you think is a terrible right wing bigot- lost her billionaire status because of all the money she gave to womens causes around the world including setting up rape crisis centres. Shes always voted labour. Julie Bindel has been an anti rape anti trafficking campaigner all her life. She rose to fame for pushing the prosecution of the yorkshire ripper who was killing women. She thinks shes saving womens sport. Sharron davies was a feminist hero for breaking barriers in swimming. Do you really think they dont care about raped women? What a false binary. What do you do in your life to support victims of assault that makes up for you celebrating televised male violence against women?
How misogynistic to make the jordan petersons and the donald trumps the face of the opposition when its obvious that the most sincere and strongest opposition to this mens rights movement has always been from left wing radical feminist women?
Its got nothing to do with stereotypes and everything to do with biology and what having XY chromosomes and a testes that produces sperm and testosterone does to your body. I'm sorry your karate teacher was able to hurt you when you were a child- but adult human females and adult human males have entirely different biology, You are not a child anymore. You are a grown man and I bet you could beat her up if you wanted to. I dont have to take your word for it- there are studies. Men on average, even at the elite level, have bigger heart sizes, bigger lung sizes, bigger wingspan, more punching power even accounting for weight and for muscle mass, more grip strength, bicep strength, less body fat, greater femur length, able to lift more weights, jump higher, and have more lower body muscle and quad strength. This is what scientific studies show. This remains true even if those men claim to be women. This remains true even if they have DSDs. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s40279-020-01389-3
I can also tell you anecdotes- almost every woman can- of how they thought they were going to die when a man decided to hit them- and how they didnt think it was possible for that man to have that much strength., and looking at that match I only saw a man beating up a woman. Because thats what it was- you need to work out your own trauma through other methods- go to therapy. Dont weaponise your personal trauma to justify giving men olympic medals for beating up women.
Just because some awful women exist who abuse young boys doesnt mean that women deserve to have fair sport taken away and to be beaten for sport on the world stage.
Sad that a ship so big is dismantling like a deck of cards. Pre-2020, that place had an unmatched vibe. Now, there are fewer people who can even be nostalgic about it, I guess.

There are no glass walls. But there are bunkers and obstacle courses.
Trust this is helpful. Cheers!

Feeling happy with 10 others
And allow me to tell you something more- it's tough, but fair.
I am not trolling you, don't worry. And please never care about some random trolls on LI okay?
But what if one fine morning you are facing a life crisis, and you have court? Will you tell me to excuse you because, oh, I am not able to articulate? I can understand what you are going through, but I can't excuse it. Neither should you, for these few years of law school at least.
So start refining your writing skills. Then speaking skills. Then your entire work product- judiciary or corporate, whatever you do.
But please start. Yes, it's tough. But you do the little things right, and big things will be just fine. Been there. Done that.
You do this, you'll go miles for sure. More power to you!
1. MNLU: The Mumbai advantage is sometimes underplayed- it counts A LOT if you want to:
a) join a senior counsel/counsel at the Bombay High Court;
b) join a Bombay-based boutique law firms (which have an open preference for Mumbai-based colleges) + you will have great lateral entry chance into T-1 Firms after 2/3 yrs PQE in such firms;
c) join a T-1 Firm directly, and once you have some PQE under your belt, you can apply to a foreign firm. This route makes more sense to me than opting for it straight out of law school.
2. NLIU: If LLM is your endgame, then there are no two opinions- go for NLIU any day. They have a good corp culture too. But here me out - its 2029 we are talking about. After NLS, NALSAR, NUJS, NLUD, NLUJ, I won't vouch for any
Even if they don't have the 'academic rigour' of top NLUs, you can head for internships straight away (ask @GLC peeps) all around Mumbai. Believe me, if you
As for practising lawyers, I suppose those at T1 firms may have to pay more?
My other friends who have a CTC of 7-8 LPA working in smaller firms, are doing very well mentally, and if given a choice I would be in their shoes
