Man honestly AI will never be fully replacing manual work especially in legal teams. I have always seen people say capital markets and any area with a lot of DD will be extinct but this is not true. Just the other day I gave Chatgpt a list of 50 names and attached a zip folder containing 50 files and asked it to just verify if all 50 names match, it still got it wrong. So there will have to be a human checking if chatgpt or any AI is doing correct work. If anything, people will be able to finish the task requiring 1 hour in 10mins through AI but they will never stop working. Just my two cents

By definition, this is not the platform for time-sensitive stuff to be dealt with. People can come and check it anytime, not necessarily per other peoples' requirements. Most of these people would love to teach at government universities. That was their natural home until government universities were systematically defunded and destroyed by the current government. Does the law prohibit parents from going on youtube, finding videos of music lessons and having their kids watch them? No. Does the law even prohibit children from finding age appropriate youtube videos for themselves? likely not. What the law does prohibit is for young people to have their own accounts. using which they can be groomed into producing CSA material, or be exposed to other sorts of harmful material. Algorithms are real and these companies have no incentive to not constantly feed your kid content that keeps them engaged and in mental distress. Youtube is just a digital library, theres all sorts of content on there that adults may be mature enough to consume responsibly (debatable) but children are not. After so many exits and few upcoming ones, seems like S&R has given up on growth. Firm is in complete denial, there is utmost biases by them towards non performing people. If money is the only thing that WILL keep you sane and happy throughout your life go for MnA, PE-VC. Remember there is no pay parity even in T1 firms with respect to disputes team.

If money is something that is least of your concern then choose Disputes over Gen corp. Yes gen corp, m&a...they all can get monotonous at some point. I've seen people who have lost their interest in a year or so because they got into gen corp looking at the money aspect only.

I am not sure about number of hirings but yes freshers hiring for 2026 is done. Anyways considering recent exits one of the teams is anyways bloated. Also, the hope is they pay at least existing A1s as much as they love to project salary of freshers and then not act surprised when people leave across bands for payment disparity.

Yup -- be VERY afraid. Boomers and Gen X have made enough money and will escape unscathed. Gen Y will suffer some damage, but may wiggle out because of their seniority and experience. Gen Z will be out of a job by the end of the year. Gen Alpha --- poor guys won't even see the inside of an office.

Yes NLU or Non-NLU everyone is welcome to intern, they are encouraged to apply and the selection process at no point entails the factoring in of your Law School. Past internships however are given weight, but can be easily offseted if your "Why do you wish to Intern?" is original and not AI written.

Read all the points. A lot of these themselves written by AI for heaven's sake. Fear mongering I call it, unless someone has more substantial points to add. Because let's be honest - if automation this big is going to happen, then not just lawyers but all professionals are gonna end up jobless, and the economy will have large scale unheavals as well. From what I understand, work for lawyers is always going to remain, in what capacity we need to see.

Just one perspective - sometimes good culture also leads to very good quality of output, resulting in financial growth of the firm. In that case, you keep on growing, since firm is growing. However, its very difficult to maintain culture when a certain scale is reached. And then things kinda go downhill.

Two points:

1. The problem with Gen Z is its only when you work with them, you realise is it a typical gen Z kid or not. By and large, the typicality is generally found and very few are exceptions. So initially, you're bound to be painted by the same brush, till you prove yourself. I've few gen Z team members and they've been superb folks. I started without any preconceived notions and just looked at overall work and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, which was better than I expected.

Honest review and opinion:

They claim to be a firm with offices in Dubai and Singapore, but no one works in the Singapore office and the Dubai office has now become non-existent.

If you are a fresher then you'll have to wait at least 2 years to be called anything other than a "trainee". Although, the work for an NQ is good as compared to any other firm which says they do international disputes. And if you are in the 3-6 PQE bracket - the work depends on your ability to cope up with different legal systems. Also expect little to no work on Indian law.

In terms of firm culture and atmosphere, it is toxic and unrealistic, being run like a chamber/sole proprietorship and not like a firm, with some lawyers running the show as the partner's pet while partner himself spends 6 months on vacation in Europe.

However, If you are someone who has more than 6 PQE and have aspirations and dreams of making partner one day then run in the opposite direction. No growth only a lot of noise about purported growth.

Pay depends entirely, as they claim to pay Tier 1 firm salaries, which is entirely a false narrative. Tread carefully as they are known to make exits hard specially if you resign.

I think the students of NLUs should start a collaborative protest across India to restart the demand for the nationalisation of NLUs, which is crucial for securing adequate funding. Even though there are certain challenges in nationalising state NLUs, we can still advocate for granting Institution of National Importance (INI) status to NLUs, which would help them receive substantial funding and other benefits.

Yes, I know the decision has to be taken by Parliament, but these protests can help raise the issue of nationalisation or INI status in Parliament. Without asking for it, nobody is going to give it for free. Let us raise our voice.

And to the JGLS folks, please stay away from this discussion if your point is going to be that “you won’t get INI status.” You got your IOE status only because your university has funds. The application fee for IOE itself is ₹1 crore.

Give us some ideas. We will gather students from all NLUs and start a movement towards nationalisation.

Wanted to know what's Khaitan Chennai (esp the Dispute Resolution team) like? Do they pay as much as their counter parts in other cities? How's the work culture? The kind of opportunities one may expect and their clientele? The Chennai Disputes partner being T. Kannan? (heard good things about him)

1. Usually, people put papers up prior to publication (either pre-print or even before they are selected by a particular journal) on SSRN for feedback from fellow academics/researchers working in the field.

2. I can't see it adding much value to the CV, except to show that you are continuing to work on a specific project. You'd certainly be an idiot to put it on LinkedIn under 'publications', unless you wanted people laughing at you till their sides ached, that is.
