Hi, i am in KCO Noida. there are two teams which sit in the noida office. both the teams have hired a bunch of people very very recently. if PPO is the only reason you are looking to intern. would not recommend coming to KCO. you can try with NL's team, since you are in 4th year and by the time you graduate they might have a vacancy. alternatively, some people from bombay teams do sit in noida office. so you can reach out to them for work to increase your chances of working in KCO.

I would seriously advise you to consider joining a good litigation chambers in Delhi, many of them have started paying 30-40k to freshers, esp if you are from a good NLU. Even if you aren't, the chances of you getting into a litigation chambers in final year is much higher than getting into a firm.

Leverage your T1 internships, esp if it's in disputes team.

This particular issue has nothing to do with politics. Yes, there is a lot of politics and the recent saffronisation of Jindal has made the left/liberal profs unhappy, but this issue is separate. NLUD provide fellowship only to one scholar, i.e. who is the topper in the merit list. NLUO provides stipend to all scholars at 30K and 10% increase every year. So I'd choose NLUO over NLUD anyday. If you're comparing LLB and LLM clat ranks for a PhD program, you seem to be stupid AF. Fellowships matter more than perceived "tiers".

The noise about Bangladeshi and Rohingya voters is overdone by the middle classes and elites. Yes, there are many Bangladeshis and Rohingyas who have illegally acquired voter ID cards, but not as many as we think — certainly not enough to swing an election. It’s just that they tend to stand out more in an urban, elite, upper caste environment, because of their traditional dress, appearance and accent (skullcap, beard, lungi, dark complexion, non-Sanksritised Bengali etc). So upper class people see one such construction worker or mason in their posh gated community, and their mind thinks there are millions of them.

(Note: We need two mandatory pre-moots for Vienna/HK quals, and they just robbed us of prime practice amid their admin mess and politics going on!)

You can do freelancing when you have some credible work experience.

Lets say you work in a MNC for a couple of years as a lawyer - Adani/ICICI/HCLTech/TCS or a Tier 1/2 law firm. You can show your future clients that you have some credible work experience which can be transferred in the freelance role (Contracts/Compliance/M&A)

Most folks who work in litigation and put profiles on fiver or up work because of some law sikho course end up getting very few work.

It truly has - the remnants of the earlier comp team at AZB are the problematic elements. Piss poor attitude, hundreds of useless comments on a two page document, insecure about clients, messing up on docs (filing one notice containing documents of another) - the list goes on. All of these armour chinks together culminate in scapegoatism and toxicity. If not for new folks who joined this practice, mental breakdowns would be more common than pigeons on the fly.

BLR as a city is extremely welcoming if you're respectful - typical North Indian mentality is what causes 90% of the conflicts and I say this as a Delhi native. Day-to-day life is most comfortable in BLR out of all Indian cities in my opinion (if you plan around the traffic).

However, I disagree on your last point. Many teams implicitly have a preference for BLR locals which they can never own up to publicly. I've heard partners openly say they'll only hire Kannadigas over lunch, and odd hiring decisions that appear to be solely premised on this preference.

I won't be pursuing without stipend, I am now properly studying for UGC NET, will be attempting it again hoping for a better outcome,I had attempted it before while working just for experience, I'll look into NLUO for sure. You are right about NLUD, they do give stipend only to the topper of the merit list which is worrying. Thanks.

I have been working, worked with a litigation firm for 1.5 years and I still take up independent work from the said firm on a per draft/per appearance basis, but I really cannot continue with litigation anymore its affecting my mental health and sanity (sorry for sounding so extreme :/ ), I thought of switching to research heavy roles or pursue PHD (hopefully with a stipend), I'll look into unis abroad as well, thank you.

There's no need to pay juniors. As fali nariman himself said, the killer of hardwork is a fixed monetary reward. Instead of the senior paying the junior, they should ensure the junior working on the matter gets paid from the client. Thats how it works everywhere. Only in delhi do these seniors pay and these self entitled people want a salary.

While any kind of caste discrimination on the campus is wrong, India has seen enough of students having to suffer the consequences of it, however shouldn’t the law be encompassing and ensure protection is guaranteed to all? Why this discrimination in application of law? What happens in case of false cases? How does one decide guilt?How does one describe discrimination- through words, actions or perceptions? The applicability of law has to be clear, precise and equal for all. Hence instead of creating a bad environment on campuses I’d urge that the UGC notification either be withdrawn or corrected.

I honestly don’t understand why some of the power brokers are hedging their bets, waiting and watching. I can’t see the TMC losing. Today’s papers are reporting that 3.5 lakh unmapped voters haven’t shown up to their SIR hearing. Even if I assume that all of them are fake voters and will be deleted, that’s still too small a number to make a difference.

So a TMC victory is absolutely certain IMO. Why doesn’t the NUJS admin then go full steam ahead with the impending agenda: second campus, honorary LLD to the CM, chair professorships to pro-regime judges etc? Or will the new VC be reluctant?

This is somewhat in different tangent. The point was about KS's focus on the case, highlighted by his absence during other side's arguments to check them or focus on developing counters. But I guess you cant do it, with the volume of cases. I dont think any a list seniors are around in other side's arguments. Having said that, I've seen a fairly amount of difference in the way Sibal argues with say, Dr. AMS. KS is now slightly prone to moral outrages while arguing (not sure if it had always been there) whereas Dr. AMS is laser focused on points of law, without much getting in his personal views.

Discussions about reservation on LI typically see mass downvoting of comments opposing reservation. But the downvoters rarely post cogent arguments explaining why we should persist with reservation. On the other hand, the case against reservation is very strong:

- Dilution of merit and efficiency (ref Nehru’s letter opposing reservation and Nani Palkhivala’s essay opposing Mandal politics and OBC reservation)

- Creamy layer or privileged candidates lapping up seats; Yadav-Meena dominance over Dalits, marginalisation of Mahadalits (ref study after study)

- And now, the IIM study showing that low numbers are a thing of the past.

The real reason why reservation continues in India is simply because of votebank politics.
