If you're at NLS, NALSAR, NUJS, NLUD, NLUJ or GNLU and you spend your five years learning the law, reading up on your own, don't miss classes, get at least something extra in your CV like an interest for moots, debates, or at least one quality publication, you will get opportunities to intern at almost any law firm in India. There you have to slog hard for that month regardless of how easy things are at your NLU. You appear hungry and polite and willing to be trained, they will give you a job. Keep it simple.

Well, sorry to be rude but taking a drop is a very stupid decision, an exam like CLAT is highly unpredictable and you can't guarantee a sub 100 rank, please get your head out of your ass and look at it from a practical perspective as well, not to go all paternalisic but you still have a long way to go kid and opportunities across top 5 NLUs are more or less similar, it is what you make of those opportunities that matter.

Take a partial drop if needed, but understand that it is quite easy to get into most foreign LLM programs as they are just a cash grab so don't worry you won't dent your LLM chances by coming to NLUJ.

No, because there is a fixed and sure promotion path for IAS/IPS officers but in lower judiciary, even it is possible that magistrates may never become even a district judge (district level post equivalent or subordinate to DM or SP) but IAS/IPS within 5 years of service will become DM/SP and in 14 years DIG/Special Secy, 18 years IG/Addl. Secy, 26 years ADGP/Prin. Secy and so on. Moreover, UPSC people have vast kinds of jobs. They can be deputed to any department as principal officers. Also, there is much much higher facility in civil services compared to judiciary (except salary.. salary is higher in judiciary but salary growth is higher in civil services). You are the main person not the side doer like judges and magistrates.

Also, UPSC is far far more harder than Judiciary. Judiciary is full of dumb people from top to bottom. Most judges are undeserving and inefficient people and most of them have tried UPSC and couldn't even succeed in cracking prelims when they were young.

Their practice areas are quite different. Saurabh does IDT more and Pratyush DT. Today Pratyush’s practice is bigger than Saurabh’s though Saurabh is much senior. Plus they are good friends. Doubt they are bothered about what people comment here. Both are going to be designated seniors in a few years.

One person officially speaks in favour of the politician dispensation, the other does it subtly and is more of a sympathiser than an official spokesman. He also uses polite language and does not defend the indefensible. In that sense, the latter is more acceptable. But he uses a distance course from an NLU as a flex on social media. This surely cannot make one an NLU alum? The question remains whether better qualified people do not exist in Kolkata? Shouldn’t NUJS or other NLU alumni be tapped? In abuse of dominance cases we still have not heard about NSE or DLF and its fast approaching two decades of distinguished and deliberate fumbling by all concerned. Symbi has extreme focus on MBA placements since inception, even their deans were hired with that one objective in mind. Very placement oriented. Mind you, the high paying roles will require specific skills such as quant, finance, sales, etc.

Also, slightly arrogant of you to assume that you can crack SNAP easily. After XLRI and CAT, it's one of the toughest exams in India, also partly due to demand.

Are there any good Mumbai law firms that continue hiring till the end or even after graduation - T1/T1.5 or T2? buddy NLS journals don't publish articles written by NLS students - they're all solicited from top academics/practitioners (and that is the standard practise for all other top journals including IJAL at NLU Jodhpur. In my opinion, if you land up at any college till NLIU, it gives you great exposure and access in terms of networks and opportunities.

If I were you, I would definitely take NLUJ (over NUJS anyday) and work there to be at the top of the batch. Also keep in mind that dropping means losing one year that you could instead spend on gaining work experience post college - at the end of the days, our time here is finite.

Apart from Jindal and Symbiosis which are genuinely good private university in India. I am getting a tier 3 NLU and I don't think I should opt for it, especially since it's Ranchi. You can't have it both ways. You pay to be taught, and you are paid to work, not ask for more learning. People who impress generous professors also get mentorship and recommendations, but that can't be an expectation. If you want to do this, start with a more professional mentality.

During my sabbatical, I decided to make a career switch from litigation to corporate/ in- house roles. However, due to lack of experience in the field, I decided to pursue my masters in corporate and finance law which is soon to be completed.
