Luthra & Luthra Law Offices, as its full official name has been, is now called L&L Partners Law Offices, we have learned from sources and Bar & Bench has reported.
The firm is also understood to have promoted new partners over the weekend.
Scoop 6 August 2018 10:50: Managing associate Abhiroop Lahiri has been promoted to partner in the corporate partnership of the firm. The 2009 NUJS Kolkata graduate specialises in capital markets, had started his career at Khaitan & Co, moved to Amarchand Mangaldas in 2010, and joined Luthra in 2011.
Several more partners are understood to have been promoted in the litigation and tax sides of the firm, each of which operate as semi-separate partnership from the corporate partnership.
Scoop 11:59: On the litigation and tax side the following have been promoted to partner:
- Abhishek Swaroop (lit)
- Anant Garg (lit)
- Gunjan Mishra (tax)
- Sumit Mangal (tax)
- Rajan Raj (lit).
Managing partner of the formerly eponymous firm, Rajiv Luthra, told Bar & Bench: “In a dynamic economic and policy environment, change is the only constant. Therefore, it is important to evolve proactively and continue to innovate to support our clients with integrity and steadfastness. This is our first step and we will continue to evolve.”
According to Bar & Bench, there is also a new “stylised pentagram” logo, which is dubbed the “guiding star”, “inspired by the North Star, which represents the firm’s role as a trusted advisor, enabling the firm’s clients to navigate new horizons with reliable, innovative solutions” with the “straight strokes, connected all through, representing a seamless connection within and with clients and the strong green color overtones stand for ambition and prosperity”.
It is understood that soft discussions from some quarters for a fuller equity model in the Luthra corporate partnership have been ongoing again for a while, after an ill-fated attempt in 2009 to go the equity partnership way.
Other big firms to have launched new logos in recent years include Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas with its “Knights of the Roundtable”, and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas’ elephant, which “symbolizes strength, intelligence and longevity –the qualities of the firm that make it so valuable to clients”, according to the firm.

Guess same design firm suggested the colours.
as a firm you have built a lot of careers
some bad PR and maybe a rough patch
will pass
good luck and keep egos checked it is a firm not a saaa bahu village setting serial
[...] better luck for next time. Congrats [...], [...] etc. oh shit that [...] isn’t promoted this time too..koi toh [...] ko bol do... VS is happy in elections for which results are our happily. Haha
People leave judiciary, challan court and beacine partner here.. joke are promotions joke the party...
And wrong English.
Last week i met one of the members of the management and I have seen some real desire to make the right changes in order to evolve with times and best part I felt was the acknowledgement that they have made some mistakes and they are ready to work on those. Also, the top people are on the same page. Agreeing to drop your name from the name of the firm is a big sacrifice.
The name change is one of the changes in the series of changes they are planning to make, which will benefit everyone, from associates to partners to clients. I wish this firm all the very best and keep it up!
And I left the firm to become an in-house because it was simply a lifestyle choice.
Reminds me of a hindi sher by Mizra Ghalib:
Umar bhar Ghalib yahi bhool karta raha;
Dhool chehre pe thi, aur aiana saaf karta raha.
Changing the name wouldn’t help. Change the attitude and get ride of the arrogance.
They have over 300 Qualifies lawyers.
It's me who is in demand, not you. You need to get it cleared in your mind. You are already getting more than what you deserve. Don't stretch my generosity.
Also, the new logo is simple and impactful.
