Program. I understand that an MBA is expensive. However, student loans are quite easily available & the ROI is decent for MBA programs from the Top 10 IIMs / FMS Delhi & private institutions such as XLRI, XIMB, etc.

So cheer up & work hard, you will eventually reach where you want to, life is too short to worry about things which can be improved upon by working smartly & diligently. Life is a marathon, not a 100 m/200m race.

Hi, sorry to hear that life hasn't worked as you wanted it to; however, you shouldn't consider this a sign of incompetence but of your perseverance. You currently have multiple options, and I will list some of these options for you. Firstly, you can start by applying to boutique firms such as Panag & Babu, DMD Advocates, Capstone Legal, SNG & Partners, HSA Advocates, etc.; I think there is a Legally India thread on boutique corporate law firms; search it up. Secondly, follow up on your application status at a reasonable regular interval. You can also apply to T2/T3 law firms (Again, search for the relevant LI thread); they will happily take you if you are willing to work and aren't too concerned about losing batch seniority. Coming to the batch seniority part, losing 2-3 years, even four years, doesn't matter in the long run. If you aim to become a Partner eventually, don't divert your energy towards this matter. Now, if you successfully get a job in a boutique/T3/T2 Law firm, you should work there for at least 2 years, & then laterally shift to a good T2 firm from T3/Boutique or a T1 Firm from a T3/T2.

Thirdly, if you want to earn a good salary from the get go, you can try writing CAT & join a decent IIM or a private institution for their MBA programme

Try reading these books:

BA LLB (Hons): Most students' first preference. 1st Sem subjects such as political science and economics are considered a bit tough due to the answer writing style required and the strict checking of the answer sheets. Produces a decent no of Gold Medalists. People from all the 10+2 streams flourish as the subjects get easier as one progresses.

B.Com LLB/BBA LLB (Hons): The classroom is filled with students who studied Commerce during their 10+2 period; however, one will find a few people from science backgrounds. People with a science background must learn more, especially the accounting basics. The papers are pretty scoring if one prepares well for the exams, thus helping one maintain a healthy CGPA. The only difference between B.Com LLB students (specific financial markets & accounting related subjects) & BBA LLB students

( Specific Marketing/Management related subjects) are a few subjects, and common subjects are taught in a joint classroom session. Produces Gold Medalists. Placements wise most of the people get placed with companies & law firms alike. Some In-House job openings are primarily available for students from these two streams. The faculties are decent for both streams.

BSC LLB (Hons): This stream is highly preferred amongst students with a science background. One needs to be interested in Forensic Science, Physics, etc., to score well in this stream. Evaluation through practicals does happen & thus, one needs to prepare well enough to maintain a healthy CGPA in this stream. Placement: Some students get placed in Law firms/In-House, some prepare for UPSC/Judiciary & some go for litigation. Produces Gold Medalists.

BSW LLB (Hons): This stream is considered the least demanding among all the streams. The subjects are more philosophical; field trips are also organized for students. Students can score decent marks if they study from the prescribed reading material & also from senior's notes. Placement wise:

Most students in this stream either prepare for UPSC/Judiciary or go for Litigation by applying for the GLASS Scholarship offered by GNLU; in rare cases, some get placed in Law firms/In-House.

You shouldn't be scared to tell anyone about what happened to you. People who take advantage of others by offering jobs/PPOs are the worst kind of people that we will ever see in this world. I am genuinely sorry for what that Equity Partner did to you. The way forward for you is by telling about the incident to your parents first, as they WILL NEVER judge you and instead will help you in every step you take. Don't even think of self-harm; there is plenty in this life to live for. Name that Equity Partner and fight your battle at the relevant forums. Perpetrators should never be allowed to think that since they hold a position of power, they dare to exploit someone; such people must be held accountable and even jailed for heinous acts. Again, I would conclude by stating that DON'T even think of self-harm; think about how that will affect your parents. They care for you, they really do, tell them about what happened to you, tell them everything.

Hi, firstly, congratulations on interning at three Tier 1 firms! It's not easy to get T1 internships, yet you have received them, which tells you you are an academically oriented person and quite sincere in your work. It is indeed a sad feeling, trust me, when one's peers get those PPOs when one is working sincerely and isn't receiving them. But it would be best to learn that no matter how much you think you are good, there is always someone better than you; this statement helps one move on in life and work hard even more. Not receiving those PPOs is not the end of the world; Day Zero and Day One are still there where top T1/T2 come and select the suitable candidates. The only mantra for qualifying for a day zero interview is good grades + T1 internships. After you prepare for the technical rounds, your knowledge of Company Law, the Law of Contracts, and the Partnership Act will be tested in general, and you will get the job; from this statement, I mean, you still have a perfect shot in getting a job offer from T1 firm, don't stress about a PPO. I would end this by stating that life is too short to worry about what others achieve in their respective lives, appreciate their efforts, and then move on. There are many opportunities for getting an excellent job; learn where to look for them. Like the Great Baba Ranchoddas said, " Don't run after success; always go for excellence."

Let me add something: The MBA period will provide breathing space and clarity concerning your future job prospects if you choose to pursue it. I think the money factor is not a concern for you (assuming) (for applying to an IIM post-CAT). You can also go for a one-year executive MBA program instead of the two-year one.

You made a good decision by choosing to work as an in-house counsel over being at the mercy of law firms where the work-life balance is in shambles. Since I don't know your exact work experience in "number of years," let me take a guess (approx 12-15 years), Maybe you can try to do an MBA from an IIM or a decent institute, and that degree coupled with your extensive experience in various companies as an in-house counsel will get you the perfect job. Many companies do hire Chief Legal Officers/GCs (that MBA degree might help). So that's my take. I hope this helps...
