Due to popular long-running demand and dissatisfaction with the speed of our moderation, we have mixed and opened things up a little as an experiment.
Many thanks to @AshReh, @TheLord, @(Tier-1 NLU), @TroubledLawyer and @waqeel (in alphabetical order), for volunteering in this recent threadfor the (hopefully not) thankless and tough task of mainting a semblance of decorum on LI π
And if others are interested in volunteering, please let us know in this thread (after having signed up anonymously with your username) - we will likely be shuffling the numbers of moderators around in the coming weeks to find a team that gels well. In the meantime, due to the moderation system, posts will likely get published faster but may sometimes also get unpublished or also get locked for a while.
Good luck, god speed and β€οΈ! Please let us know how it goes π§Ώ
Hi kian, I have been a lurker on this platform for the last 5-6 years and have primarily engaged through the guest mode feature; I think this platform has provided essential insights into the legal world over the years and introduced me to diverse views.. By volunteering, I want to give back to this community..
Thank you for the kind offer @Lawyer98 and glad LI has been useful and interesting. We've added you to the top of the list once things have settled down a little! :)
1. though everyone please try to tone it down and de-escalate a little, as much fun as it is to bash each others' law schools :) Criticism is fine, but please don't go overboard and keep harping on the same points, like NLU Delhi fudging figures in NIRF, or NUJS + Mamata = evil, or XNLU being awful, or whatever. Please stick to factual criticism, rather than just opinions, if possible.
2. Genuine request: please tone down politics talk in general. The vast majority of readers and commenters will ultimately not benefit or enjoy if LI turns into an SJW crusader platform, or full of incessant Modi or Raga bashing, or everyone's favourite unwoke WhatsApp uncle foaming at the mouth and railing against the evil Wokes being the end of modern civilisation. There are enough platforms for all this left vs right culture war nonsense and fake news, so if this is important to you, please seek those out rather than LI - there should be plenty of other interesting things for educated lawyers to talk about.
No proof of that being deliberate. Hell, NLIU claimed a median of 18 lacs, but no one cares for that since NLIU doesnβt have a high NIRF rank. You target only NLUD because youβre all jealous.
Is that why you keep trying to hire the alumni from those 'lower NLUs', or trying to pass yourself off as 'superior' to those? If you don't care, then don't comment or react when people are calling you out for your actions. You aren't joining CLAT because of greed, no other reason.
Hi Kian! Thanks for adding new moderators. Hopefully this increases the speed of moderation. I was curious if the selected users will still be able to contribute to a thread if they want to (under their own username) or will their duties solely revolve around moderating the threads?
Also, if there is a need for more moderators, would be happy to help! Have received quite some valuable feedbacks from this forum and would definitely love to give back to the community.
Hi @(2023 CU Grad), thank you so much, I'm glad LI has been helpful to you over the years.
Regarding your first question, yes, of course moderators can participate in discussions (in fact, they are strongly encouraged to do so if they feel like it). And of course moderators (or any other logged in users) can also post anonymously while logged in by selecting the 'Hide your username for this post' button, if they feel like commenting in complete anonymity.
And thank you for your offer - there are quite a few new moderators at the moment, so we'd like to probably let them settle in first for a few days / weeks and iron out bugs, teething troubles, etc, but we'll definitely get back to you for the next round of 'promotions' :)
Thanks a lot Kian for the clarification! Hoping this round of promotions goes brilliantly and will be looking forward to the next round of promotions if any!
Hi Kian, please stop the D*** measuring contest based on NIRF ranks. That will be really helpful. Those are some of the most unpleasant threads to read.
Generally in agreement, and we are already moderating heavily against pointless such discussions, though it seems hard to draw a clean line when something is about Ds, and others about legitimate criticisim / feedback about college choices? Any ideas how to reign it in?
Let's have one thread dedicated to every university. Plus and minus points can all be discussed there and no new threads. That will at least localise the nuisance.
Thank you @pretzell, will definitely let you know. As mentioned above, we'll let the existing batch settle in first and make sure nothing is very badly broken, and how it works out in practice, etc, but will definitely let you know afterwards.
Thank you Phoenix, we will let you know asap when the first round has completed - but do note that you should create an account and log in with it first, and post under that username, otherwise we won't be able to assign moderation privileges.
Generally, it might be nice if you also introduce yourself in a very short sentence (while maintaining as much anonymity as you like, of course), and what you think has been most valuable / fun / worth preserving in the LI community and discussions for you.
Thanks also to new mods for devoting time and making an effort to sustain this website for free exchange of information and inside secrets of the industry.
Please compile all LI treasure (including user comments) on the amarchand mangaldas split from wayy back.. all that was such an interesting read. I'd love to re-live it again through LI.

All of their accounts have been upgraded to moderator status, which means they will now have considerable power and responsibility in the LI microcosm, subject to ultimate moderation by our regular mod @LegallyIndia. We have posted some more details in the following thread, which should only be accessible to moderators): https://www.legallyindia.com/convos/topic/277177-welcome-new-mods-lets-talk-moderation-and-community

1. NLU criticisms. You cannot permit criticism of one NLU and censor/shadow-ban it in the case of another.
2. Politics: Both woke and non-woke views should be given the same treatment.

acceptance is the first step towards correction
