I am from non nlu college and I have got an internship at Luthra in corporate in upcoming months.
Can anyone provide me clarity about their hiring status, ppo process and exposure etc.
Tnx
When you live in a residential university, you end up knowing people, and it turns out my assumption that you are from some local State University or low ranking private college was true.
As I said I'm not a PhD candidate, so I don't need to defend anything, especially to some underachiever, who couldn't secure admission to a good college not once, not twice but thrice.
Yes I know rml is a State University, I am also aware all NLUs are State Universities, turns out you are equally unable to read between the lines and the lines actual lines.
OP here. Can get it by applying. I am pretty sure we have heard so many "Apply well in advance to the HR", but yeah, that's what I did. Surprisingly, they do have a responsive team.
I don't have any references for the same.
Such a huge part of our childhood died today. Feeling so sad. π’ The greatest principal of all. π«‘ Stood up to interference by the Ministry of Magic. How desperately we need such people heading our educational institutions today!
Also, will Sudhir's salary increase with the intake going up? Will it be structured like the salary of the JGLS VC? I heard that at JGLS the VC gets 1.5 crore a year plus a share of student fee earnings. Apparently 60% of the earnings are spent on the university, 25% given back to Naveen Jindal and his company (which has given money on the basis of a zero-interest loan rather than a donation), 10% kept in savings and 5% shared between the VC and senior management. Please correct me if I am wrong.
So if Sudhir is paid using this model, then perhaps 85% fee income can be spent on the university, 12% on savings and 3% given to him?
And in case you are okay with it you can also add a line saying that youβre willing to do an assessment internship.
End of the day, luck does play a part since there are a lot of variables, like vacancies, mood of the partner when they open your email, etc.
Like these honestly people dont reject law firms because theyre too lazy to work there. Thats just the sentiment on here cause no one here has left the firm life, people in all of those careers also work very long hours- the work is just more interesting. these people also dont reject law firms because of some perceived toxicity- theres plenty of that in policy spaces/ academia/ whatever. The reason toppers reject law firms is because the work is uninteresting until you become a senior associate and thats much too much time to waste for a young lawyer. These are not folks that are easily motivated by money or clothing/ luxurious things- they like the law. They didnt come into it with materialistic aspirations to start with. why would they give in to them now?
Last year, I was giving an interview for AO vac scheme. When that didn't work out, i thought day0 will work out. Now that it didn't, I'm not sure what to do. I've lost all my confidence.
Do things work out? Please tell me stories of things working out, I really need the hope.
Bump
When you get the interview, and if the business guys are taking your interview, then you should be able to speak about the business of the target entities half decently. It shows that you are a "business" lawyer (whatever that means) and if you are going from an in-house position, then you should know the broad financial numbers of your company, such as total revenue and EBIDTA, if possible.
In reality- Not happening.
No one messed with him afterwards for the rest of 5 years.
BE LIKE HIM. GET THE F UP.
Btw, this RML person recognised 5/12 people, is she/he the caretaker of records that the recognition can be relied upon?!! lol, just saying.
Shows your common sense, kiddo.
That long a reply to such small a comment?!
I guess someone is hurt badly and hiding their selection in Ph.D. too.
Wow, Multi Tasker.
Law Firm Partners are not employees of the law firm as far as my understanding goes. The Partners, the Principal/Senior/Junior Associates, etc. are basically under retainership to the corporate entity of the Firm (Normal Partnership or LLP or Pvt. Ltd. Company). They are service providers and law firms are service recipients which pay professional fees as per the retainership agreement. This fees is not a fixed salary like something an employee receives, but a professional fee, that is fixed for the services they offer. The treatment of a law firm lawyer, however, is like an employee in terms of work function and hierarchy.
Regards to the registration with BCI, there is no such registration. You can only enroll/register with State Bar Councils. The BCI is a separate body formed with members, and it does not function like the State Bar Councils do in terms of enrollment of advocates. Reference:

Also the senior partner might have merely forwarded the CV without any recommendation, hence the HR was asked to actually assess the profile. Then rejection.
I'm saying this because i applied through a partner recommendation and got a confirmation in a day. Although it was useless, as saraf pretty much is a dead firm and not offering ppos etc.
Pls choose scam, trilegal, kco, not luthra and saraf or jsa

I fully respect Quint's right to free speech, but why single out GNLU? Why not other NLUs? The Instagram page named many other NLUs too, while there have been documented cases involving NLSIU and NLUD students/alumni, reported in the media. I also sincerely hope Quint will not give it a political colour and make it an anti-Modi hitjob.
The TAT can't be yesterday always, you should respect your colleagues and more importantly provide them with adequate training not throw them in the deep end of the pool.
What's being done
But unfortunately, this has led to a new problem where all relevant conversations are getting pushed down. Also, I understand that different people may find different topics interesting so you canβt arbitrarily censor some posts.
A bookmark feature would really help. Else I suppose I will have to open a Wordpress account so that people can follow my posts in one place.
But yes, great job with the moderation. I know itβs not easy reading through so much content.
Taxmann toh at times mere clg assignments bhi publish kr deta hai
Kindly don't share unverified contents. You may have useless smartphone but we have important data in our gadgets.
Because 95% of all information here are just crap.
Indcorp and Taxman are the gold standard
Also trilegal is also tier 2.
When you become educated, you stop saying uneducated things.
Tier 2s - Saraf, L&L, Bharucha
Tier 1s - SAM, KCO, AZB, Trilegal
Gold Standard - IndusLaw, CAM, S&R
J Sai Deepak and Sanya Talwar (for RW views).
I just hope the race for a successor does result in an internal power struggle within the faculty.
Corporate law firms are cool but maybe our AZBs or CAMs need to learn from HSF or Skadden
But, let's bite. What are your problems with socialism? And which political party has the same ideologies that you support? Would be nice if you gave some nuanced and substantive answers beyond "JNU bad lol, arts grads useless lol, taxpayers money lol".
Will take your advice positively. Just that this job thing has really made my life upside-down. I just hope I figure out this soon.
On the work front, I don't relate with eh people at the office much, in fact the people of the city at all. I basically belong to the suburban part of the same metro city, and I really never liked to idea of working there- reason why I didn't do my college form there. But now, since I have no other option left, asides moving out to an unknown city, here I am.
Maturity Period: The concept of βMaturity Periodβ for a loan is basically the time period till the day the loan becomes due for repayment.
Scenario 1: Letβs say you take a loan of INR 90,000 from a friend to buy the new iPhone 15, and you agree to repay him INR 90,000 after 5 months, the maturity period of this loan is - 5 months.
Scenario 2: Letβs say you use some fintech app to avail INR 90,000, and after a gap of 2 months, you pay back monthly EMI of INR 30,000, over the next 3 months.
Fun fact: In both the above cases, the βdoor-to-door maturity periodβ is 5 months. But the βaverage maturity periodβ? It is 5 months in the first case but not 5 months in the second case. What? How come?
Technically this bit is βout of syllabusβ and not done by lawyers, but here is how MAMP is calculated:
https://www.adb.org/sites/default/files/publication/29723/maturity-based-pricing.pdf
Also - girls can buy their own stuff, there's more to it than not carrying a jhola!
My current employer has a notice period of 3 months and I plan on moving.
