NFSU's Cybersecurity COE organizes a boot camp on "Cyber Crime Investigation" for LLM students. This circles back to the earlier discussion titled "AI, cyberlaw and digital Law' (https://www.legallyindia.com/convos/topic/333609-llm-in-criminal-law#comment-333770).
More power to you!

instead of wasting 2 more year in chase of โtier 1 law firmsโ make your way there with hard work.
Nujs bsc llb> Nliu bsc llb> glc mumbai> nuals> cnlu> DU (5 yr law course) > t3 NLUs > ILS.
Although this being said, my main concern rn is whether to prefer cnlu over glc mumbai or the vice versa. Please guide if you have the relevant experience/knowledge. Seniors of both the institutions have positive feedback so it's not proving to be helpful too.
(1) Former AG (present ASG) - Ramakant Mishra or his son's chamber . Sharad mishra is famous for hurling verbal abuses at juniors and interns.
(2) Former AG - Fouzia Mirza - Elitist af !
(3) Sr Adv Kishore Bhaduri - Nepo Lawyer and related to one Sitting justice. Kishore Bhaduri does not have good depth in law.
(4) Dr Nirmal Shukla - He was good abut now hardly appears
If placements is what you're seeking, NALSAR will always offer the best.
For example, what really is the work of Information Officer. On paper he is to function as PIO. But how many RTIs does NUJS receive? NKC and Co are well-known for stonewalling RTIs and so NKC may have wanted to have a PIO of his choice. But the admin flab is costing students
1) I've heard that the hostels aren't made available to all the students due to scarcity of rooms. Is that really the case, and if so, are there PGs available in the nearby locality?
2) Is the rule about wearing uniforms strictly enforced?
3) How hectic is life in the campus with respect to academics and extra curriculars? I want to give CLAT another shot and would like to know if preparing for a partial drop is manageable while studying and trying to get good grades in the first semester.
4) Not from Kerala. Is there a major Mallu-Non Mallu divide, and if it does, does it significantly affect the experience on campus?
That said and without diluting what you have faced, note that NUJS is in Kolkata, in West Bengal (which also hosts Sandeshkhali) and India is a union of states that also comprises of UP (BHU), Delhi (DU, JNU) etc.
The entire debacle with ipleaders happened due to his over activism without knowing proper facts
He claimed on his tinder profile that he got the VC fired, that wad the extent of his activism
Such a dead giveaway when you are trying to act anonymous
Do you suggest it should have rolled over and accepted claims brought against it?
How would that help
Long story short- I just gave le mocks and sectionals for legal from telegram and analysed them in great detail, I used to mark out my mistakes and draw out certain generalisations or specifics (you may call these tips to ace the section) and used to keep referring to them alongside my mistakes periodically.
I went on from scoring 25ish/40 (in the beginning when mocks used to be of 150 marks) to 29.75/31 (30 correct, 1 wrong) in the actual clat paper.
People say do this book/do those lectures/read those set of notes, but trust me kid, nothing of that is gonna help you, Iโve been a part of the preparation journey and if I can do it despite being a science student, thereโs nothing thatโs stopping you from getting a full score in legal reasoning.
Make sure you do the question paper of 2023, thatโs pretty much the kind of paper you should be looking for. Please go by the official (final) answer key by the consortium and not the one released by coaching institutions- theyโre trash af, if you donโt believe me, just watch the paper discussion of clat 2023 on any coachingโs youtube channel and figure out yourself how many questions have they marked incorrectly even at times when the questions carry obvious answers.
Also, id suggest you to STICK to le mocks ONLY, please please please donโt let your preparation get affected by the legal section of one of the most famous coachings this country has got to offer.
Just keep practising passages, read exhaustively and youโll be done mate, all the best!
Newsflash: There is nothing special about NLS. It is a law school like others. It has got an excellent alumni base because of first mover advantage and gets the top CLAT rankers, that's all. Now it has got a decent set of faculty too. Even with 100-strong batches, other NLUs still have a small enough group to know each other. NLS got that reputation largely because of first mover advantage and a set of favourable circumstances in the initial years.
Since there is no unanimity concerning the faculty members who were questioned hence not mentioning the names that came up.
But this much can be said that the complainant had mentioned the names of two senior Professors (a male and a female) as witnesses to the alleged sexual harassment by NKC. She has also complained against two Associate Professors (a male and a female and both ex-Noojies) for working with or alongside NKC.
It was also mentioned that majority members of LCC Barasat are well known to a former NUJS ICC Head who is friends with the complainant and her witnesses here. That explains why the complaint was made there and not to the ICC here.

Some Tier 1 teams glorify it using words like hard work dedication t make associates work extreme hours, where they are only sleeping 2-3 hours per night. This maybe during phases, or throughout the year, but with breaks. Either of these scenarios is the worst of human exploitation (unless youโre the equity partner or you somehow feel strong sense of ownership doing clerical work). This I frankly not physically bearable after a point and you lose touch with the outside world.
I used to think people working till 4-5 am in the morning was exaggeration till it happened to me. So yes, this does happen, and it sucks your soul out. Most people in those teams are either too scared or brainwashed to say anything.
Other firms have 12 hour workdays, but even though you get to sleep on time, these hours are extremely intense as you keep switching from one project to another without any breathers in between.
This isnโt great either, but much better than the above scenario.
There are some teams which do care about their teams and try to give them breathers between projects, but you need to research and speak to reliable people to figure these out.
Remember- brainwashed people in toxic teams, and people in good team sometimes use similar phrase to describe their teams, so please vet from multiple sources.
Atleast tell some details and all
So if I will give clat for top nlu and if I selected then that 3 yrs of my graduation count as my drop year ??
So if count as a drop year then please guide me 3 or 4 years drop will effect my placement or not ?
I want to go corporate so from top NLUs tier 1 firm will hire 3 or 4 year drop student ??
PIB was allowed to exit without suffering any financial and/or penal consequences (just like a certain Registrar despite being indicted in the Cal HC appointed Justice (Retd) PN Sinha Inquiry Report, which was extensively covered by Legally India).
Very interestingly, when this shameless Registrar appealed against his termination in Cal HC, the bench that finally disposed off his appeal (it directed the EC to reconsider the matter afresh but left the final decision to EC) treated the matter with kid gloves (just like the iPleaders litigation) and was led by the same senior judge who later "settled" the distance education without cogent legal justification.
Every time NUJS and/or its lawyers conveniently forget to mention vital facts, case laws, inquiry reports et al.
What about the latter category? Don't they deserve a second shot a law? At a sophisticated campus life? An attempt at social mobility in legal field?
Holy fuck OP you should be a poet or something because that statement just moved my soul.
So...
my doubt is whether its smart for me to shift to a t1 firm in their funds team and stick around for a few years before shifting in house to a fund. My network is primarily in the funds side given my current work and brother who is a senior position in a PE Fund.
Have great references to join a T1 and im 100% sure ill get in. Dont mind putting in the work so that I can learn.
LI folks gimme your advise.
Thanks.
Distance education issue had a fishy start since inception. And the vested interests include complicit faculty members but also allies outside. Don't single out TMC. It is actually a heterogeneous mix, which SJA realized much later.
The issue was never about iPleaders. It was about how PIB and certain faculty members deliberately misled AC and EC and later distance education students. Later the issue snowballed into Lord Taluk and his acolytes trying to kill off the inquiry. Subsequently, NKC was appointed and COVID helped in burying both the SJA and all the inquiries.
Ironically, the so-called non-complicit faculty members, all holding "permanent" positions preferred to look the other way while Lord Taluk and NKC went about committing their sins of omission. This is particularly galling because a certain faculty member was very well-known to Lord Taluk (long-time friend of Lord Taluk's daughter) and was frequently consulted during his reign at NUJS. Why this faculty member chose deliberate inaction remains a mystery.
But the irony doesn't stop here. This faculty member's spouse was later tasked by the EC on KD (AG) and NKC recommendation to take charge of arbitration against iPleader and was intimately involved with the litigation in Cal HC as well. And we all know how that went and the "settlements" that were made.
Interestingly, one those who helped NKC shepherd such a sweetheart deal has now lodged a sexual harassment complaint. Some say there is an FIR, while others say it is just shadow boxing.
Be that as it may, if SJA, NKC or anyone is actually interested and in a position to do something meaningful, just do the following:
1. Revive the the inquiries including on distance education mandated by the EC in 2018.
2. Call for all the records, including those prepared and submitted by the then SJA and esp it's Prez.
3. Grill NKC and Co on how NUJS lawyers were advised and briefed
4. Ensure that the inquiry is done by a person of integrity and authority in a timely manner.

Another word of caution: if you're not from south india, make sure you are very mentally strong before coming here. It's a very remote and malayali-dominated campus and it costs minimum 200 rupees just to travel to the city.
The bully then looked through the associate's old tweets and mailed the T-1 firm.

"Back in the day NLS was elite, a small knit campus less than 60 to 80 students per batch. Everyone knew each other, every alumni cared about each other. Even till recently NLS was like that.
New VC Sudheer basically destroyed NLS as we know. What's the point of having 500 students in a batch. Even newer lower rung NLU's have far less number of students. If expansion is the goal, then it shouldn't stop - NLS should be like Jindal and increase the batchsize all the way to 1000 add some swanky swimming pools. What's the point of this expansion?
3 year LLB is a joke. NLU's were started to provide fully residential education to kids who were just out of school. Legendary course was just the 5 year llb with small batch size. Many came to NLS as LLM students but they were never acknowledged as real alumni. DU has a million students but is there any point of being an 'alumni' of DU - nobody knows anyone. NLS was always a family. Introducing 3 years LLB is stupid But diluting the legendary course by tripling the batch sizes is unforgivable.
Won't be surprised if NLS goes down if they keep on diluting it like this. Some years down the line NLS will just be like any other law schools with nothing special about it.
