We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Cry yourself a river
people were saying she cheated or something but that's immaterial. ill put the video link in the comments once i find it.
Do family / social connections matter in corporate, too?
If that is the case, all this seems so bleak and futile
There have been other car accidents in the history of Jindal, also resulting in fatalities. Those of you who have been to Sonipat will know how unsafe the roads are and how indisciplined the drivers are. High time the government does something.

Kuch to sharam kar lo
"uski biwi bhi achchi nokri karti hai" should be translated to "even his wife has quite a decent job" and not "his wife also does a decent job".
I personally dont care, but snooty partners and uppity clients will.
Its nice to have a good house, a good car and a good watch, but is it that significant enough that people actively discuss this online with fellow lawyers as to how they should spend their bundles of cash? Is this what I will be reduced to in the future as well?
I make decent enough money, I still have a Timex on my wrist, a motorcycle that I love and an iPhone 13. I have never felt excluded, neither had the urge to overspend what I can not afford. Why do people here so frequently do the opposite? What about love? What about Friends? What about family? Is money everything?
If it is, then God help me. I cant wait to leave this profession.
Bias towards top NLUs
Disrespectful behavior to non-favourites
They work on a lean team model but it's an excuse because of lack of resources
Thank you for providing such a lucid & comprehensive response. Could you please throw some insights on the Aptitude test conducted by ALG. Is it a pen & paper test or like a computer based online test? Also, the essay writing part in their test... is it related to IP only or is it generic?
Any idea about the tmr team?
By the way, why do you recent NLS students (like the guy who apparently left NLS for Jindal), fret so much about joining NLS? When I was seeking admissions to law schools, NLS used to be our dream!
Hope this helps.
Bro, make up your mind. If you don't want to live at work, this will involve actively limiting your involvement at work / with work colleagues, to what is necessary for work. If you want colleagues you can have fun with and share your life story with, you are probably going to waste a lot of time at work and end up there for long hours.
Other advice - write down a list of criteria you care about, i.e work life balance, professional growth, etc. Write down a relevance score for each (i.e - a relevance score of 5 out 5 means this criteria is a non negotiable and a relevance score of 1 or 2 out of 5 means you can live without it). Now, in the third column, write down the score that each team would get on that criteria, standalone - i.e - from your description it looks it RMs team would score low on career growth. Now multiply the relevance score with the team score for that criteria to arrive an overall score for that team / per criteria. Add up the score of each team under all the criteria and viola - you have a mathematical answer.
Or fuck it and decide on vibes.
Am I exaggerating? Here’s a social experiment for you. Visit a marriage bureau. Pick any. Have a conversation with them. Your experience will speak for itself.
If you aren't a Brahmin, Punjabi, Sindhi, Rajput, or at most a baniya, Delhi sure as hell isn't for you. The exceptions make the norm. Wake up, smell the coffee, and quit this chutiyapa of a country.

PS: Why is my original post marked as contested? This data has been sourced from the consortium's website.
I support the search for truth man, but I hate that you're looking in the same dark tunnel from the opposite end.
This resonates me too. I’ve noticed the easiest way for people to fit in is to pick up a glass of wine and instantly feel part of the “cultured” or “elite” group. Won’t say every drinker is pretentious though. Lot of people just had a hectic day, and they are looking to wind down/ get immediate relief by downing some drinks. Also, the drinks lobby has probably spent million of dollars in marketing to convince us that - drinking is the most adult and acceptable way to wind down when you have a high paying serious corporate job.
I’m thinking of opening an anti smoker lawyer club. Will drop merch like anti social social club. Thinking of hosting parties/ having a community for sober people. Will have same music and same vibe, but will just replace alcohol with non- alcoholic drinks. I mean Why should drinkers have all the fun?
Fun fact: The drinking trend has hugely picked up in India, whereas abroad lot of people are moving away from drinking.

Non drinkers / non smokers - let me know if there are enough of you out there for the idea to be feasible. Will try to launch something by end of the year basis responses.
- BMW/Merc: Possible for all partners, since you can get one for only 1 cr
- Lamborghini: Possible only for top-level partners, as they usually cost 6-7 cr upwards
- Glamorous wife: Depends. Some girls chase money, some don't.
- Children in US college: Possible for all and nowadays pretty much everyone sends their son to the US for an undergrad
- Cigars, watches, MF Hussain paintings: Affordable for all, but not all together.
It is speculative and has been proven wrong on all counts by what happened
1. Nujs ordered by writ courts to issue certificates (which it has failed to do so far, contempt petition against VC ans registrar personally being heard)
2. Arbitration by ipleaders won, 80 lakhs compensation already paid and 50 lakhs more under litigation
3. NUJS lost out its entire distance education revenue- this primarily helped NLS Bangalore to rule the roost in distance education space. Also fee of nujs students is much higher due to this.
So congratulations es sja prez you got several articles published, wrote in tinder bio about your actvism, hope it was worth it
But time has proven you wrong.
If you want to desperately get a head start- you could try to learn macro and micro economics. Some of that stuff is hard to crack when in law school. and maybe intro to sociology- the theory is dense. But you dont have to do any of it. Everyone starts law school in the same place.
Cho chad he wasn’t given the brief
What does it matter that Tushar Mehta solicitor general of India argued it himself in SC and was sent packing
Coming to your question. Join a 3 year LLB and don't just study but work along with it. Publications and internships galore. All the best.
Don't put your batchmates on pedestals. Some might have a small headstart but as college begins, everyone will more or less be in the same line.
And if you have health conditions please specify it to the partners
I would also suggest you browse through the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy page and read any topics which catch your eye. Read up about top philo and jurisprudence thinkers (just Google search and then read about their main ideas - Wikipedia isn't a bad starting point) and key conflicts in legal theory like the Hart-Fuller debate. Also learn about legal schools like realism, originalism, critical legal studies, etc. This will help you get to the level of drop year students who were interested in these or partial drop students who may have studied all these.
Additionally, and this is something I didn't do but really really wish I did, is to get into the habit of reading legal blogs (IndConLawPhil, LAOT, IndiaCorpLaw) on a weekly, if not daily basis. Stay up to date on legal and political issues - follow LiveLaw/Bar&Bench daily. Read reputed magazines like The Economist (get a subscription).
Hope this helps. All the best!
2. Don't doubt yourself or feel intimidated.
3. Keep your head down and study.
Simple things but also easy to miss.
ATB!
I was on assessment at a tier 2 firm but at the end they didn't hire us assessment people for some internal reason.
I have 0 internships or anything else lined up right now. My future seems pretty bleak to me as of now. No offers of any sort in my hand right now.
I do not have any connections in the industry either.
Also, most of the firms that i reach out to just reply with a standard hr reply starting with unfortunately... U can guess the rest.
A big number of places are not even hiring right now.
So right now I'm going through a very difficult phase, having a lot of anxiety and panic attacks. I am clueless as to what should i do now.
Can someone please help me out, if anyone could provide any leads of any places hiring right now or even give me some general tips on how to get out of this rut. Anyone who's been in this situation before and made it out, please give me some tips.
To be honest i feel like a loser right now. So please help me out give me any insights you can.
You are definitely a private school kid

it's not like BA subjects are insurmountable obstacles that you can never score higher than a 6 in. most of the top rankers in the batch are BA students, and that's usually in proportion to the students who take it.
it's just that the threshold for the minimum amount of effort to be put in to not fail is much lower in BBA subjects.
Also, OP can't be from NLSIU because he has spelt Sudheer wrongly in the subject line and comment text. Obviously a student of another NLU who is jealous of NLSIU.
Work on weekends.
Stress. Stress. Stress.
No time for exercise.

This is the life of a typical law firm bro, all in pursuit of an expensive apartment, car and watch.
Is it worth it?
2nd c is ignored except for reservation jokes and community is irrelevant except in communities like Sindhis, Jains etc
RM has a star team. He is by far one of the best Corp lawyers in the country and has a clientele no other first gen Corp lawyer (other than Ashwath has). He is a workhorse and services all the bulge bracket PEs. So don’t expect easy hours.
While Maggon is also a good lawyer, there are lawyers in Trilegal itself who are better than him. He is quite junior compared to RM.
