GNLU mandates you to wear uniforms few days in a week
So yeah, just sums up these people.
I take a foreign holiday every year. I got myself a proper watch (Omega), tailored suits, fountain pens (Sailor), and top quality grooming products. All my personal electronics are Apple. These things are very important, don't listen to uninformed people posturing with false humility online.
My next targets are my first Rolex, a BMW 3 series and Mont Blanc writing instruments.
Civil, Criminal and Writ practice.
Being the High court there is a lot of appellate work pertaining to civil and criminal laws. On the Writ side, there is huge amount of work pertaining to service laws. Not a lot of commercial matters. Counsels practicing on civil and writ side often take up arbitration and other contract matters.
From the perspective of a junior, some chambers don't pay at all, some pay in the range of 5-20k. On the brighter side, the cost of living is not much too. The standard of the bar is really good and there are excellent lawyers practising here.
But is it a wise decision? No, it is not.
Where can I find a good place for myself to rent under 30-35K?
Law firms also need to blog
And get traffic - it’s increasingly an important strategy to have inbound traffic
You don’t need “novel argument” or “novel research” - you need traffic more than everything else
This is fantasy
If you are active on social media you will end up getting to know lawyers who can recommend you
People who write regularly on ipleaders blog have more footprint, its easier to publish (because they have an active team that responds in reasonable amount of time) and then you showcase that article on your social media - people will read it and it increases your face value
Publishing one article in some academic journal that nobody will read will not get you placed
Nehru, Shastri, Indira, Morarji, Rajiv, VP Singh, PVN, Vajpayee and Manmohan were all foreigners?
Such absolute drivel. He is just forever indebted that ▮▮▮ famous India Gate ▮▮▮
Truth, my ass.
Anyway, some of these are important (like foreign vacations) and a decent (even if not German) car. Talking bout myself.
Just try to get into a TMT team asap. The more you go through the IP prosecution rut the more difficult it will be to switch.
With Indians, flats or juttis
organise yourself this time and be united, fix a date, call meetings with them and start a massive protest in the campus , don't let anyone enter.. Only you can save yourselves. I urge all 25 NLU students pls help us...raise this matter and take it to CJI and PMO. This VC has destroyed 3 universities Nalsar, NLU Assam and now MNLU Nagpur..God knows what's next..
Commercial matters are not difficult to understand.
IDK how ppl in my clg were able to constantly intern, score high grades, publish in intl journals, be core members of committees, complete cs and also maintain long term lovers and deep frndships. i never ever got any one of that.
i get no respect in my house due to family thinking that i'm a failure, my siblings have all started from bottom by themselves and r now on the top in their respective fields. I was forced in the legal profession by my family, but i never got any help from them. i have now gone in a spiral depression and dont even have a single frnd, no matter how hard i reach out to anyone from my batch.
if anyone who's non judgemental and above average person who manages time properly; can give me a throwaway email to contact them, I would like to ask basic questions that i'm too afraid to ask IRL due to my fears. pls contact me - txtwing@gmail.com
there this year is the internet that bad like what's the average speed
The biggest asset of NALSAR has never been faculty as such. It is your batchmates and the alumni. With a batch so large, internal competition ends up driving you to be a better version of yourself. Being exposed to such a diverse set of students helps you grow as a person as well. Most of the laws can be studied by oneself provided one has certain basic understanding of english and legal systems. While good faculty definitely helps, it is a small component of campus life. I've learnt quite a lot from my batchmates, seniors, and juniors. 15-20 years down the line, these very people would be in quite influential positions in the legal circles.
For placements, it's going to depend on the efforts you put in. T-1 firms don't care about what faculty NALSAR has. Rather, they will judge the students based on their performance in internships and their interaction during Day Z. Self-study should help you there.
Lastly, the alumni network of NALSAR is your biggest strength. We are here to take care of you, so don't worry too much.

A0 in boutique IP firm trying to leave IP (everything sucked at my workplace and I realized IP does not pay you anything) and join some other team as a lateral hire. What teams would be ideal for me to apply for? With higher chances to get hired I mean.
I do acknowledge that with 3 years of experience, one will be aquire substantial amount of drafing skills. But how to assure that its perfect, such that your seniors dont have review it.
I have been told observing and reading agreements may help. But I dont see the change even after reading it. Maybe I am observing it wrong.
If someone can advise on how to observe drafting while reading agreements drafted by seniors that would be great.
Thanks :)
VC Sir promised us placement data on within a week from our orientation date. It's been almost a year. He also made claims that ACs will be functional by 50 days. It's been almost a year. Nagpur gets so hot in March & April and we don't have ACs in our classes, hostels even after paying 3.65lks. I'm ready to pay more to set up AC in my room but they are not allowing.
My batch already has 66% reservation and most of them gets 70-80% of their total fees returned by Maharashtra Government and this is why nobody cares about the people who are not from Maharashtra.
To anyone powerful/insightful here, I'm a first year student, I don't want to get in these higher ups' radar. Please HELP us. Save us or atleast tell us how we can save ourselves.
I can assure you this is not a troll post. But I can assure you that our university is highly infested with mismanagement (and maybe corruption).
Even anyone wants to know more details I'll be glad to give them.
Now I don't believe in trusting/opening up with the 'snakes' here.
So Sir/Ma'am, I believe you're fortunate if your friend count is more than one.
There will be a churn of VCs in the NLUs soon. It will be good to know about their "deeds" so that they don't get rehabilitated as VCs elsewhere.
Just a case in point.
PIB from NUJS was another VC who was allowed to run away to Karnataka. So many VCs of NLUs are simply allowed to leave with absolutely no adverse financial, professional and/or penal consequences. And so their successors keep working/refining the entrenched corrupt system.
If the claims are unfounded, why is NKC panicking? Why is he delaying EC meetings? Why is he being so paranoid with EC/FC/AC records? Why is he so upset that the police and LCC are pursuing the matter despite pressure? And why did he expend so much energy to initiate two laughable inquiries?
How is Westin working for him?

Only difference, in referrals, your referee gets a small commission (in firms like Khaitan etc). SAM and CAM don't even offer that (they're in delulu about their talent hiring process).
Should I send out cold emails for a job or assessment??
