We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Ideally, would love tips and trips to function at a higher level than people usually do, but anything to even avoid being inefficient etc would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

You are not here for cursive writing or calligraphy exercise.
Also, DON'T for God's sake use fountain pen on a legal document unless you have a death wish.
Constitution and shit. Barely any questions from commercial laws like IBC etc.
Pathetic
month and then managed to get my WhatsApp number. This is a message to all students - pls be mindful that something said once, is said enough. Anything more reeks of desperation and not only us, but the world will avoid you like the plague.
The fact is that every university in the world has good and bad faculty. As long as the proportion leans towards the better, as it has for Nalsar, the education stays decent. You can compare Sudhir to Veer Singh all you like. The fact is that you can learn a hell of a lot from one and not so much from the other. What it does prove is that students will come and complain and whine when they don't feel good, which is often. Yes, some professors don't have great people skills but they don't in Y/H/S either. Despite the complain, students do get educated, whether directly in class or by friends who got educated in class.
Here's the takeaway. The whining tells you nothing - it has existed as long as Nalsar has existed. Find people who have learned to make the most of Nalsar and learn how to do it from them. You still have very decent faculty to work with, great infrastructure, a very good reputation and a good alumni network. Your classmates have this too and you can make the most of this together.
Buy a mattress and pillows before you reach campus.
You'll be joining during monsoon so get your umbrella (get something that is sturdy, winds here are strong). Also, evenings are borderline cold in October so get light winter wear if you can't handle 18-14 degrees.
NLUs aren't democratic spaces, never have been. None of the VCs well regarded for their administration has been a democrat, not even Menon, MPS, RS etc.
That old excuse of SidChau not being able to do his PhD because of his admin workload can only work for so long. If everyone around him including his contemporaries in other institutions could manage it, so should he. He volunteers for many of his duties, out of the goodness of his heart and sense of responsibility. That means that he's made a conscious choice of not being in a leadership role. Hence he should refrain from interfering in leadership matters too. He's not an FM fan? He encouraged students to lobby for him!
How would you deal with our senior management who constantly yell at you and shows temper tantrums worse than babies?
How good are you at PR?
A guy and girl from NUJS (Pranjal Sinha and Akshetha Ashok) appeared on Shark Tank tonight, to promote their mediation startup Sama.live. Initially all the judges were sceptical and Anupam said itβs rare to see lawyers on Shark Tank. But they were eventually all impressed and made offers.
This is also the first ever Shark Tank pitch by NLU grads (correspondence courses donβt count π). Letβs all congratulate them and hope that other NLU grads also pitch legal startups to Shark Tank!! There is life beyond law firms,
people!
The point is, get a smaller home near your office, you will thank yourself for it. You'll find open gyms, if not, get yourself that dumbell which has adjustable weight, a yoga mat and a pair of good running shoes.
Even after all this ruckus, has the victim(s) filed a second FIR?
The student who used homophobic slurs still continue to speak such stuff and further more he is well regarded by professors.
What the University administration had done was wrong, and there's no point in condoning it.
However, it should be at least attempted by the victim(s), their friends or family to redress the wrong suffered. Why do you make such a big hue and cry but refuse to reveal the culprit? There is protection for privacy of the victim never for the perpetrators. If you had the guts to post your experiences online and when such incidents are protested against by the student community as well as the Gujarat HC, doesn't that mean that the victim(s) are supported?
I donβt understand why anonymity makes people spout utter nonsense.
Both the Associate Professor and the PA should take note of this for their respective cases.
If you focus half of this on your work and efficiency- then no one would care even if you use a cheap pencil.
It is only course absolutely hilarious.
Did you like it? Do you think it reflects the true reality of the trial courts?

This is just dumb.
Both Obvious and non obvious.
Yes. You are supposed to claim expenses only to the extent you have actually made such expenses. Thus, if you earned 16L in a year but spent only 3L, you cannot claim that you have spent 8L. Your bank statements and declared incomes would soon start varying drastically otherwise.
That's the understanding I (and several others) have on this. The deeming provision is only to the extent that your expenses will be deemed to be towards your profession - not that you will deemed to have made such expenses. Thus, the only practical aspect is you do not have to keep any invoices, bills etc. of your expenses.
I have seen many CAs disagree on this, however. A lot of people are still filing their returns claiming the full 50%, even though their accounts disagree. Most of the claims have been processed - but that does not mean it's legally correct and cannot become an issue for you.

EC will be called after the LS Election dates are announced. The "decision" taken at Westin will be formalized.
