Search for a guy Kailash Rajah on LinkedIn. Civil Engineer from Australia. Civil Engineer (pathar, bridge wale). Changed track to do an MS in Economics from Chicago. Now is doing PhD in Development Economics under Prof Duflo from MIT. If MIT can open doors for a non pure Economist, I am sure NLS can allow us mortals in too.
The objective of education is to open doors. Not create elitist ivory towers. Also, let's assume I was a PVTG or an ST candidate, who somehow did a BA and was the first in her village to enter a district college. Now, when I got a sales job in Bangalore, I saw the 3y LLB course at NLS.
Don't I deserve an opportunity?
Also, dear troll, search what PVTG means. UPSC prelims me pucha hai. All the best. I understand you are a troll, but, let's learn something which is not taught everywhere - Empathy and Kindness.
first, why is this even problematic? unless you want the batch to become one massive ECHO chamber, people are entitled to their opinions.
stop whining about it like a wuss when you didn't have the courage to at least speak out against it in the forum, where you would've had the opportunity to engage in "fruitful" conversation, where at least you could've pointed out what, in your opinion, were "flawed notions".
you didn't. you have no right to cry about it here. bloody pathetic of you, shaming a member in public. we're all young, we ought to have opposing view points about stuff!

Kindly tell, much needed insight.
Thakkar was a first-year BA LLB student at the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, and hailed from Mumbai. The police have filed a case of unnatural death after the incident. This is the second suicide death in Namma Metro. The first such death happened when a 17-year-old boy jumped before a moving train at the MG Road metro station in 2012."

I was deeply distressed reading this
I have had the fortune of being associated with all of the aforesaid institutions.
With all the respect one may have for JNU, it will never produce a candidate who may compete with NLUs and Jindals. It may, however, produce very good researchers, policy enthusiasts in which space, perhaps in the longer run, even NLUs and Jindals may fail to match JNU. But overall, (i) NLUs + Jindals, (ii) DU and other Central Universities, and (iii) JNU would continue to hold the fort for various classes.
I do not know how big the competition practice at CAM is but pretty sure that the partner does not have 7.5 lakh people employed in the team. Sure, your argument works for Ratan Tata but stop giving ridiculous examples.
I got what I wanted
Then I hated it anyway
You need to work in an area of 2 years before you start liking it
Shut up about I want to work in that area and do a good job at what you are getting
imp: I do not intend to blame anyone for anything
The person is spot on. In your college days A LOT can go wrong and everyone gets to react the way they want to. RIP to the person we lost. However, eradicating depression or anxiety for that matter is not a possible solution. The practical solution is making everyone feel heard and acknowledged. The way your grief dilutes when you get to share it and there is an atmosphere favorable for your recovery.
NLUs (I am looking especially at you NLUO) cannot do that. The administration comes from an idea where the generations below them are evil and do things to cause havoc. When an administrator is so unwilling to understand what a kid is like and presupposes malice, it will never be cordial.
NLUO has seen multiple suicides and attempts in the past few years. People always had trouble in the Uni, but pre covid the Uni had an impeccable student support system. (I dont speak for everyone) but people could vent out and say the things they felt. It felt like a place where everyone was valid (cannot ignore the fact that many people were casteists and sexists and caused validity issues) but at least a good part of that small society stood up for each other.
The new administration saw this and thought of this as a rave party going cult that does not have any academic interests. Mind you this college was in semis of Jessup and Quarters of Vis Vienna that year, it had bent NUJS HSF backwards by winning it on repeat back then. The students were ushing as hard as they could. It just did not fit with the idea.
Forward to an administration that did everything to break the student based society and isolate everyone. I am not saying that people took steps because of the Uni admin, but they could have had a better chance at solving their issues if not for this admin.
I do not intend to blame anyone for anything, I will never know enough to pin it down on someone. But there is obvious responsibility of people who destroyed the communication channels handmade by people according to their preferences. People grieve when there's grief but give up when they're isolated.
It is for us to not isolate anyone but also for the admin to let people be and let their ideas of communicating survive.
May you find peace kid.
Comeback stronger NLS, the idea of self harm spreads very easily, be cautious and kind. Do better than NLUO did.
Peace
Nothing more to say.
I guess to win against the system that is otherwise rigged against simple people, we should have been born as Mr. sorabjee's daughter who openly in news articles stated that my daughter is a bully. Absolute sham. Warriors of justice it seems.
Are we fools who pursued one single degree for 5 years straight, spending lakhs of rupees in the process?
Had it been the 2000s or early 2010s, it would have been relevant coz then 3 years llb was the most popular stream. But now, what I'm seeing are mostly clueless people and uncles in their mid-life crisis opting for 3 years llb for a kick. Plus i don't think there is any other professional degree the country that has so much complexity over a degree that doesn't guarantee anything after graduation except tall opinions from seniors about this profession, which takes time. Sincerely no offense to 3 years llb, but you guys are weeners.
or you think people who like him are speaking in his defense. whats wrong with that?
he left his job at nls when academic integrity was on the line. and as someone he does mentor from time to time- hes never given me any advice except to keep my head down and do good work and try and stay out of controversy. hes not some rabble rouser at all. In fact hes actually pulled me back from making more of a fuss and steered me toward conventionally successful paths.
You clearly dont know him at all .
The court fees is 75k for SuccessionCertificate/ LoA. Needless to say your lawyer will charge you.Testamentary is the slowest department to exist. 8-10 months.
Please consider that the court fees is actually not exhorbitant as you can transfer assets worth crores.
Lastly, please note that Legal Heir Certificate, Succession Certificate and Letters of Administration are different.
I therefore condemn the arrest of Kejriwal and accuse Modi of rank hypocrisy, because he is going soft on the TMC because the TMC has hurt the Congress and helped the BJP by rejecting a seat-sharing offer with the Congress.
But I will still vote for BJP in the interests of economic development, because the alternative is socialism.
For a middle class person, the numbers, just as court fees being quoted is just exorbitant. My cousins were straight out told by a fellow lawyer, they hired that 75k is the court fees, without examination of documents, whereas the cap is 75k.
Am i missing something?
If CAM asks her she will do it
Then poor fellows will be eased out in next 3-4 months as public moves on 😂
Flat structure ensures that anyone showing seniority complex is not appreciated. People are always advised to be respectful even to office staff. People being rude to office staff has been taken up in town hall meetings.
While the team dynamics might be inclined towards bit of favouritism but the levels are checked and well below the practices at other law firms. Hard work is appreciated and micromanagement is not the norm. No limit on work from home as long you are responsive and not strolling around
So she will choose the right team
So you know who gets fired
Hint: its not the partner 😂
This partner in question is paid an insane amount of money to send out documents that reflect "excellence and value", despite which she literally didn't bother to check the documents and the math that went out. She IS the lower management you talk of. Partners going around LI pretending to be entrepreneurs is hilarious. Y'all are wageslaves like the rest of us, act like it.
Even if they are not fired immediately to avoid more publicity they will be let go of sooner than later
You know this if you worked at any organisation forget a law firm
A much worse incident got leaked few months ago from the infamous AZB team, what happened? The alleged perpetrators were seen partying and earning in crores.
Or do you mean the invocation of PMLA? Countless courts have already ruled it that this is not the stage for it. Challenge to summons do not lie at this stage either (lots of judgments on this too, most recent ones in Del HC from J. Swarna Kanta Sharma). And since s.50 summons do not disclose that they are directed towards a witness or an accused, a recipient of the notice is not allowed to plead existence of an apprehension of arrest and thus cannot claim anticipatory bail either ("it's just a summons, you are not even an accused yet").
I very strongly wish the judicial system functioned the way you imagine it to function.
Buck stops at the Partner. When she is signing draft for filing, she is responsible for every letter in it.
But let's come to what's not factual- Partners these days do not have the time or patience to tech juniors. The reasoning for this may be bad targets from the ultimate boss or just incompetence to manage or lead, but the truth is quite clear- a whole generation cannot be incompetent. Almost every junior facing issues in the team with their boss or senior highlights bad, incomplete or incorrect instructions.
Partners- learn to communicate better. None of you have had management training, we understand, but that's no reason to shit on juniors when they turn in the work according to the instructions they received and interpreted.
Understand the wavelength of the junior and give them instructions accordingly, and also align your expectations.
If you expect them to think 10 steps ahead, atleast show them the first 3. Atleast teach them how to think better and optimise their commercial understanding.
You Partners who do not communicate are the problem. Pick up a management book and become better.
Start with accepting you need to improve/evolve, instead of blaming it on Gen X, Y, Z whatever.
Aise dastoor ko
Subhah be noor ko
Main nahi maanta
Main nahi jaanta
I refuse to accept
But UK is cheaper than US, I think cost of studying in US is twice, min 1 cr.
The only benefit is you can be NY qualified, as for SQE you dont need to do an llm from UK.
But do from a good institute thats all that matters
Lateral hiring application
Seeking internships there
Training Contract route
Vacation scheme route
Networking route - seek to work for few months there as a intern/ trainee - either by cold emailing or directly meeting partners at key events.
Talk to Indians working there
It is difficult but not impossible
And don't let any mf convince u otherwise
I have worked temporarily in a top foreign based law firm. good work life balance, dignity and respect. but they are strict about their standard. not impossible to achieve. 2- 3 years of Indian law firm experience works wonders (pref tier 1 or 2). have hope in your heart. it may just take some time. does not matter if you reach there is 2/3/4/5 years. once you get there, there is no looking back.
Shifted back to Delhi and the racism (people asking your caste the first thing when you meet them) and elitism is insane.
https://lawanthology.com/2020/07/08/online-ll-m-in-india-view-from-a-regulatory-lens/
Can someone please list down good IP firms in Delhi that gives decent amount of work to interns?
Also Delhi IP law firm how is it?!
I'd be happy to remove the contested tag if there is you have access to any other material that shows the contrary. (any such material would be welcome, in fact, given that every Jindal LLM thread circles back to this every time)
Keep in mind, his arrest is not because of non-compliance of summons. That's not even a ground for arrest under the PMLA. The ED needs to form an opinion that the accused is guilty of a crime, for them to effect an arrest. Non-appearance before the ED is immaterial.
Had he appeared in November, he would had been arrested in Nov/Dec itself. That's what happened with other leaders too (and that's what happens with almost every PMLA accused).
