File Order 9 Rule 13 (or Order 9 Rule 7, depending on the context) and state something along the lines of an e-courts glitch, etc., as it is down almost all the time. I have even seen applications being allowed on the pretext of "mera munshi diary maintain karna bhul gaya," so trust me, it's not going to be that bad.

Offer to compensate the defendant with costs (how much depends on a judge-to-judge basis—sneak into their previous cause lists and you will know how much this specific judge is imposing in other matters). You can also ask the Ahlmad, LC, or Reader of the court to find out how much cost this judge usually imposes. Whether the defendant's evidence is at the tendering stage or the cross-examination stage determines the cost that would most likely be imposed on you.

Other than this, there is a plethora of Delhi High Court (DHC) judgments that have allowed plaintiffs to participate even at a later stage. Look for the principle that 'procedural defects shall not cease a litigant's statutory rights.'

I’m a Batch of 2027 student from a Tier-3 NLU and will be graduating next year. I have primarily built my CV around dispute resolution and have interned with Tier-1 and some of the best Tier-2 firms in the disputes space. My work exposure has largely been in commercial litigation, arbitration, IBC, electricity disputes, and related areas. I also have a few decent publications.

Academically, however, my CGPA is only slightly above average, which has been a major source of anxiety for me lately.

Currently, I have two internships lined up, both under commercial litigation chambers founded by former partners of reputed Tier-2 firms. While I’m grateful for these opportunities, I honestly don’t know whether they will eventually lead to assessments or job opportunities.

During my 4th year of law school, I have interned for approximately 5 months across different firms and chambers. I even received a callback from one place, but after asking about an assessment, I was eventually ghosted. At present, I do not have any assessment lined up, and I genuinely feel confused about how I am supposed to secure my first job.

I understand that most Tier-1 firms generally do not hire freshers directly for disputes, and realistically, considering my CGPA and college background, I know my chances there are limited. I’m not aiming for core corporate work either — disputes is where my interest genuinely lies.

At this point, I am completely open to starting with a chamber job as well, even in the ₹25–30k range initially. My primary concern is simply getting my foot in the door and building a stable career in commercial disputes.

So you can’t really hide it from your partner or firm long term, since the client will surely enquire about it someday (especially if 3-4 hearings have already happened). I’d say the best thing for you would be to come clean to your partner before he finds out from some other source and hope for the best.

Not the above commenter, but why will there be any jealousy over here? The person literally said, "these clubs are watering holes for those born with silver spoons." It ain't like any of them have achieved something to get in there right? And I don't think anyone shall be jealous of the lousy losers who do get the access and think that others are below them in any manner/ jealous of them. It is easy to say things like this when you have no context. Let me give you some context.

I have been friends with this ▮▮▮A" since before campus opened physically. I have seen him face the highest of ups and the lowest of downs in all these years. He never liked NUJS and I always fought with him about it, now I clearly see why.

He makes friends everywhere he goes. The same friend group which is intent on ruining his name used to call him a member of their "girl gang". One of them had named him punching bag and they used to properly hit him everyday and he never minded. All of them knew he was safe and he never retaliated. I used to ask him why he let them and he said he enjoyed the fun and games and they were his friends. Once I also remember members of the same girl gang putting a passed out junior girl to carry in the arms of this same guy they are calling unsafe now. He ensured she reached her hostel safely while they partied.

Now tell me, why did this guy slap the girl? This guy who was so safe girls felt they could absolutely smack him and all they would get in return is a smile. This guy who never had one speck of violence towards any of his female friends. I specify female friends as I do not live in the BH and cannot say for what he did there. I can only tell about the times when my batchmates in GH called him whenever there was emergency in the middle of the night.

So yes, you are right when you say "usne bhi kuch kiya hoga". I refuse to believe that he slapped her without a genuine reason behind it and evidently I am not alone. You can call him a lot of things but you cannot call him an assaulter.

He refuses to tell me or anyone for that matter what triggered the slap. He just says he got angry and that "maarna nahi chahiye tha". He has gotten angry before, he has never raised hands. Kuch to jarur kiya hoga that he ended up slapping.

You need to understand that things are not always black and white. So many people in my batch have done more than slapping and no one said anything. Just because this is a guy and a girl, suddenly everyone is triggered. Exchange the genders and there have been multiple instances with no consequence. The girl gang and their boys have turned their backs on him but for me, I will still be his friend. And I will hit him sometimes and know that he will return a smile. I have had my fair share of experiences in 5 years and I know how to judge a person. He was there when people needed him and now the same people have ganged up against him. I will not. And I'm happy to see that I am not alone.

My friend had a difficult experience interning with the Labour & Employment team in the Delhi office. The work culture appeared extremely demanding, with working hours often extending till midnight or even later.

What was more disappointing was the lack of consideration towards interns’ well being and work boundaries. The environment felt unnecessarily harsh and stressful, especially from certain associates in the team.

Of course, every person’s experience can differ, but based on what I observed and heard closely, it did not seem like a supportive team environment for interns.

There’s no way that a person can be so manipulative, scheming, conniving, lay out his plan in advance, have the confidence and SHEER AUDACITY to do this while his wife and daughters and mom are in the next room and plan his movements and ask him to shift to a location here he wouldn’t be visible, touch me with his hand hidden by his arm, and be so nonchalant, and normal all the while smiling and gaslighting me into thinking nothing was out of the ordinary if he hadn’t already tried this with others and gotten away with it with impunity. This has been well researched and documented in numerous studies. But lucky for me, I have screenshots of chats, my ride that I booked that day, call recordings since at that time I was using an Android which had automatic call record option turned on, call recordings when I called him to say that I was running late and I’d I needed to change the appointment timings and he had said, “Ohh there’s no need blah blah. Come araam se etc etc. Call recording of when I called him from inside my ride asking for directions since the location that the app had picked up was off by quite a few distance and I couldn’t find his house and he guided me to his house. My mum, when I had told her about the interview had told me to ask him if he had any female interns and she had insisted that this be asked since she was not comfortable with letting me intern in a place with only men. And he had said yes and that he had ▮▮▮ daughters and I would need to come to his home office only since he predominantly worked from there and not his chambers in the High Court and that his daughters would be around when I came over for the interview. This was also on record. And when I entered, in the beginning, he mentioned about his daughters and asked me if I had met them in the living room while they were huddled on the sofa and I told him I saw one. And he said the other 2 women were his wife and mother. I had smiled at them out of courtesy and even at his weird, creepy servant at the start when I was blissfully unaware of the horrors about to unfold later. I have a call recording from that when I called my mother and recounted everything, when I called up my Aunty who’s my family friend and recounted everything to uncle and Aunty, call recording of her telling me that they had talked to my father and advising me to leave for my hostel immediately, not wait for ride to arrive and instead flag down any auto on the road, call recordings of people asking me if I had made home safely, if there had been any communication from him, call recordings of my brother cursing him and threatening him with dire consequences if he dared to contact me again, screenshots of him texting me again, me telling him not to contact me again, photos of his house at that day and time, other videos, photos and recordings, my selfies, him coming to my college, my refusal to attend college the day he came again. My attendance record in which that day is marked absent and I never stayed absent for college since I absolutely loved to attend all my lectures. I would sit on the first benches and loved to take notes. I hated skipping that day since I would then have to ask notes from others. All this and more is recorded, saved and backed up across multiple places. This information is available with multiple members of my family and trusted people in multiple different forms so yes, I have ample proof but I was talked out of going public with this information due to notions of shame and honour especially for a girl in our society. Recordings of my consultations with my therapists, psychologists, counselors whom I sought to make sense of this and to stop the panic attacks I had immediately afterwards. My anxiety was at an all time high at that time, me confining in my trusted family members and friends, diary entries, witness statements from the people I talked to about this, call recordings with even the trustworthy goons my brother had talked to to protect me and destroy him if he ever tried to get close to me again and much much more.

So yes, I have more than enough proof to prove it was him. Moreover, I’d openly challenge this fucktard to go through Narco analysis and lie detector tests if he dared

Yes, I do agree with most of your points. I realized what you said during extensive therapy. The anger my family felt was obviously out of love, care, affection and concern about me but also why would he target someone so naive, introverted and simple minded? And then I understood that’s exactly why he targeted me. I was introverted, would speak little, the notion of how good and decent girls act was drilled into me since childhood which also, unfortunately, makes you an easy target for molesters and rapists. I literally didn’t know much of the world. My life literally was school to home to school. What little I knew was in the presence of my family. So I was woefully ill prepared to face the real world. But this guy was praised to the high heavens by our teachers, he took guest lectures in our college so obviously a student who’s barely turned an adult would associate him as a teacher and this, a trustworthy and reliable, safe figure. That’s why even whatever little guard I might have had up was down and I became and even easier target.

Also, agreeing to your point, the sheer rage and anger my family felt was also since I come from a powerful family and my family felt that this would atleast somewhat protect me. My community is very strong and powerful as well and usually people stay clear and don’t mess with us since we have no problems in committing murders, going to jail and being violent overall. So the entire community took it as a personal insult and attack. Also, my family also felt that all the hardwork they had done their entire life to get a good education, earn money (all white, unlike some goons we know), work honestly despite immense pressure to engage in corruption, get into and maintain positions of power while acting lawfully despite facing multiple transfers as a result thereof, was to no avail and did not protect their daughter. They felt so hopeless that we could not protect her.

It took me a long time to accept and convince myself that it was truly not my fault. Like deep down, I kept making excuses for this monster that maybe if I had worn a salwar suit with a dupatta across my chest instead of a thick, baggy, oversized loose T-shirt whose sleeves reached my elbows, under which I was wearing a camisole just in case, or if I had waited till my mother was in town to go to his home office, I wouldn’t have faced this. Since that is what some people had murmured and I heard them.

So it took me a long time to actual truly convince myself that none of this was my fault in the slightest. I firmly believe that even if a woman is naked that does not give anyone the right to molest her and it does not mean that she’s asking for it. But since we live in the kind of society we live in, I felt the need to highlight the clothes I was wearing so that some self declared judges of character wouldn’t judge me on that. It was a thick T-shirt and I was wearing a camisole underneath and had a scarf over it like a wrapped dupatta so there’s no way my bra outline was visible in any way, shape or form. I went during broad daylight while his entire family was in the next room. When I came back, it was still broad daylight. I behaved in a decent and respectful manner and no action of mine whether it be from the time I told his servant that I had an appointment when he asked me who I was to the time I left could be remotely construed as “asking” for it.

Anyways, so after lots of counseling, and time spent in therapy, healing activities I was able to actually convince my own inner self and that I was worthy of basic human decency, and respect.

The justice system right now is bullshit when it comes to victims of rape and sexual violence. It just prolongs their agony and makes them recount their horror while they’re asked to repeat what they went through for the millionth time while evidences are destroyed, witnesses made to turn hostile, their education and career put on pause, being edged out of meaningful employment, and in some cases being shunned and having a target on their back, their resolution and character being maligned and as assassinated, and in cases of extreme power imbalance, constant harassment and threats, their families being threatened, silenced or killed.

I thought of telling his daughters, atleast the one who practices in the ▮▮▮ and goes around giving interviews ▮▮▮. I have regained most of confidence back but still this incident has really affected my life and the way I behave in relation with almost everyone else around me. It has definitely affected my formal, informal and professional relationships immensely and the constant cloud of fear that hangs in the air whenever I meet someone new.

Looking back even I don’t know how I managed to keep a calm, neutral tone and face when inside I felt like I was going to pass out. I was just listening to my intuition and following whatever my inner voice was telling me to do. Later on, I learnt that Flight or Fight are not just the only Fear Responses. There are actually 4. The remaining being Freeze and Fawn. And these 2 are seen most commonly in women. Many a times women will freeze and will not be able to respond to the sudden shock of sexual violence they encounter since their brain shuts down. The amount of cortisol that floods the body in such situations is very high and dangerous and so the brain will numb the response to preserve the body. Many women are unable to even move an inch. The other response is Fawn, wherein the victim will try to do as the perpetrator says and try not to anger him so that he doesn’t hurt her more. This is also seen and documented in victims of sexual assault and violence. Especially in human trafficking when they’re out in public yet the woman doesn’t ever ask for help since she feels she’ll survive and live if she follows and doesn’t want to invite his wrath and more harm upon herself. This is why many women just go along with whatever is being asked of them in a paralyzed daze.

Well there still was the underlying current amongst my family members of these notions of honour. The community I come from is very orthodox, conservative and violent. Honour Killing is very rampant and common. And in this case where the family knows that it wasn’t their daughter’s fault and since there is no basis for honour killing, since I did not elope with a guy of another caste or someone of the same caste who did not have my family’s approval or whatever, if my family was not supportive, I would’ve been married off at the earliest since I was technically an adult. So I would’ve been married off and not allowed to continue my education. I would be recounted as an example of not letting your daughters study too much or send your daughters to college, lest in another city/state. I would’ve been passed on as an inconvenient burden to my husband and I would be his headache now. Of course, it would’ve been an arranged marriage.

And this is still rampant. What’s more, I heard it myself. A meeting of all the elders in the family, our close friends, respected heads of our community who hold high positions, was called. One elderly man straight up asked my father, “Why not marry her off?” My father was a bit startled and taken aback but put his down and was firm in his stance that she’ll first complete her education before I even think of marriage. She should have a basic degree first so she can support herself later if needed. And though it was unspoken but I knew that I was lucky enough 🧿 to not be married off against my wishes. But we all know how familial pressure is. Especially in large families where 20 different people have an opinion on your life and seek to control it

Just wanted to share my experience so that other girls take the utmost precautions and care with him. Since his name isn’t published, just keep in mind to never go alone to a male advocate’s office without a trusted family member/friend, always inform your parents or whoever you trust the most about your location and other details and don’t make the mistake I did and have your phone away from you. I kept my phone away and took my notebook since they taught us in our college that you should never have your phone out in front of visiting advocates who take guest lectures, even for taking notes on the notes app. I still feel that if I had my phone in my hand, he wouldn’t have touched me as aggressively. I still remember his claw-like grip that got harder to remove after each time. It was like a sick game wherein every time I would pry open his fingers to remove his hand, he would start again after some time. At first the time duration between 2 such attempts was a few minutes, then it got reduced to a couple of minutes and then a few seconds. And each time his grip hardened and became more and more difficult to remove. I remember thinking about the words: “talon like grip” even in my dazed, confused and immobile state when I was frozen with fear. I still remember how bad my breastbone and the bone under my shoulder, directly under my underarm and directly parallel to my breast hurt. Have you ever had an injury where you fell down and directly hurt your bone, without any tissue or fat to soften the blow? Like on your knees, elbows, it hurt that horribly after the repeated gripping. And this was one of the actions that ring alarm bells in my head. He was gaslighting me to accept and feel that this was something normal and his hand placement on my thigh, closer to my waist, since I had the notebook on my thigh, was something normal. Like for the first few times, when I didn’t even register that he was touching me inappropriately since I genuinely thought he was merely missing the notebook, I removed his hand in the area between my waist and my thigh and pointed to the notebook and offered him my pen if he wanted to make any correction. It’s only after the couple of times did it strike what was happening. In my dazed and bewildered state, I gaslit myself into thinking his hand was slipping from the notebook but what really snapped me into reality was when he gripped my breastbone and was slowly inching towards my breast. My brain which had almost shut down thought about why was he touching here? My pen and notebook are here. And slowly it dawned upon me. I later understood why his hands were positioned the way they were. So in his home office, his desk and the two chairs in front of his desk are directly across the glass door which directly looks on to the living room. I could see his daughter, mother and wife sitting on the sofa almost directly in front of me. And I assume they could too. The sofa in his office, on the other hand, is placed at the end of the room, many feet away from the glass door entrance to his office. And one can’t see directly onto the living room since there’s a lot of room in between. So he asked me to go and sit on the sofa so I’d be comfortable. I remember saying that, “It’s okay Sir, I’m comfortable here”. He requested again to which I said I really was comfortable and back and forth a couple of times. At that time I felt this was odd since there was no logical explanation or reasoning but he was being very insistent and persistent so I went and sat on the sofa. I remember being a tad bit annoyed and confused since I was comfortable in that chair and my bag was in the next chair and when he got up from his chair behind the desk and motioned me to go across and sit on the sofa, his posture and body language was very intimidating and assertive and I somehow felt I shouldn’t anger him by repeating myself again. I didn’t like that my bag stayed on the chair. I wanted it next to me since it had my mobile and all but I kept it to myself since I was a little afraid. He motioned me to sit and I remember he asked me to sit in the furthest corner of the sofa. Now that I look back in hindsight, I realize that it was the point farthest away from the door. At this point I had sat and he was standing so there was this physical intimidating presence as well and I felt I should just do as I’m told. He sat down next to him. I was seated to his left. He crossed his arms one over the another. He made the bullshit correcting my spelling excuse. And with his left hand crossed over his right hand, he started touching me with the fingers on his right hand. Looking back in hindsight, I see why. He removed me from a position where I could be seen by anyone roaming around the house to the farthest corner of his office where one couldn’t peep through. He used his hand to cover his other hand and aggressively touched me with the fingers of his hand so that he could retract his hand immediately if anyone suddenly came and it would be that much harder for someone who had just entered the room to figure out what was happening since it would look like me with my notebook out on my lap taking notes, him on my right with his hands crossed dictating supposed “notes”. His servant had come bearing a tray with water glasses and his posture had immediately shifted and changed.

For whatever reasons even if this is moderated or taken down by LI, for reasons true but irking the people talked about it otherwise - i can say this is by far the best and most accurate description of what the place has become after Ashit took break! This used to be great team but see the apathy - what it has become!

This is a good call, and I support this wholeheartedly. The Delhi High Court need not be burdened with low-stakes original side matters, which could very well be dealt with by younger and more capable minds inducted into the judiciary through a competitive examination that is already in place. This will also reduce the cost of litigation for many litigants and speed up disposal, as most matters are heard at least once every month in the lower courts. Those mourning and protesting this reform are doing so out of greed and short-sightedness. They fear that it will compel them to reduce their fees and travel more extensively for their matters. What these people fail to realize is the opportunity this creates to negotiate for stronger video conferencing infrastructure in the lower courts, and the fact that a more functional legal system will encourage even those outside elite economic brackets to use litigation as a means of resolving disputes and differences. That, in turn, means more work and greater turnover for the legal profession as a whole.

The advent of AI has, in any case, made it clear that court practice will, going forward, primarily support those who can operate on a high-volume, high-turnover model. High-margin, low-volume work, such as high-stakes EPC arbitrations, BIT disputes, investment arbitrations, and similar matters will remain concentrated among the top 1%. Even that space will almost certainly be disrupted by AI, if it has not been already, leading to lower costs over time.

This reform is therefore the need of the hour. We certainly need more reforms. The alternative was either this or the creation of a new appellate court between the High Courts and the Supreme Court, and this appears to be the more prudent choice.

Next reform: legislate PILs out of existence, and reserve the Supreme Court strictly for writ appeals and second appeals arising from original side matters. Believe me, if we reduce the burden on the Supreme Court by even 60%, the existing situation, where admission hearings resemble a game of Russian roulette, will come to an end. The need to engage senior advocates for admission hearings at fees of ₹15–20 lakhs plus plus will diminish because benches will finally have more time to engage meaningfully with the issues raised in each brief, both in chambers and in court.

All of this will help restore society’s faith in lawyers, judges, and the legal profession. Stupidities like the “Cockroach Janta Party” will remain where they belong, as memes, at best.

Not that it's easy being a young advocate in DHC (and as much as I hate playing the first gen lawyer card, the issues are there).

Recently appeared in a matter where the other side had not considered our client's settlement proposal and they brought a senior advocate of considerable standing - because the judge (very well known to take up each and every matter and is extremely irritable) had indicated on the last date that he will hear the matter - to seek a date.

Despite dictating the order and saying that the other side will consider the settlement and they are seeking a date, the order uploaded records that it is at MY request that the matter is adjourned ! Clearly not what transpired ... and is it because it cannot be recorded that the senior advocate actually sought a date ??!

So pissed and absolutely ridiculous. The client and seniors have advised not to file an application since it'll piss of the judge more ... but how unfair. Can't even have a good honest practice without seeing these instances of systemic bias and unfairness.

Since the last 3 days, reading about a rape triggered memories of this horrifying event and I went through many different accounts of sexual harassment that were reported on your website. I just had a gut feeling to do so. Idk why since we read about many such cases but I had a very strong urge to go through all sexual harassment accounts reported. It makes sense now. I was going through each result and just randomly clicked on the link lower on the search results page and I was kinda shocked but also pleasantly surprised to see you had finally published my account. I realized this was my account as I started reading this. And despite feeling that I was over this trauma, I broke down and started crying.

I totally understand why you took so much time 😅 since journalists have to verify their news. You must receive a flood of emails and messages every single day and I can see why you took the time to publish it. I completely understand why you didn’t publish his name. I just wanted to highlight this to warn other girls who might want to intern or work under him. To warn them of his predatory nature and to advise them to ALWAYS take someone with them if they ever were to go to his office or home-office. Be it your parents, friends, classmates or just go in groups since there’s safety in numbers.

I was thinking of making this public with his and my identity both, all the proofs, receipts, screenshots, witness statements, everything. But I was talked out of this again by a family friend saying she wouldn’t advice women to do that. Just had a poor interview tbf, really messed it up and had a couple really dumb answers cause i was nervous and trying to be oversmart, luckily had another ppo interview with another firm of similar stature but the most important thing I learnt was to not overcomplicate it and to keep my answers simple and not try to be oversmart.

among DU 5yr law and CNLU Patna which one should I prefer? considering that I am a first-generation lawyer with no connections at all and thus I would be relying on securing a corporate PPO (not tier 1, I just want a tier 2 or a boutique) to payback my education loan. I don't think so that I will give clat again because of its growing unpredictability and competition.

I am getting mixed reviews about both like-

1.DU 5yr law

-PROS- location advantage, huge alumni and even having considerable alumni in tier 1 and 2 law firms in Delhi. Its 5yr law placement and internship committee also recently organised multiple sessions in which maybe almost 10-20 tier 1 and 2 law firm partners and reputed AORs all came in just a week. And low attendance strictness, so can intern for one or two months more than other students in a year.

-CONS- would cost me same as CNLU Patna because of living expenses as there are no dedicated hostels. secondly there are almost 3000 students enrolled in each year at 3 yr programs at du, so I fear that I would be considered part of the same crowd in front of law firms while applying for internships even given the fact that 5yr program just has 120 seats and almost having the cutoff same as tier 2 Nlus.

2. CNLU Patna

-PROS- Govt exam culture is too strong because of up bihari culture of pursuing stable govt jobs... and if I am not wrong it has almost 150-250 judicial officers under its belt with almost more than 100 students of CNLU Patna qualifying for Bihar judicial exam this year alone. Also, some of its Alumni has cleared UPSC so there are also some grade A officers under its belt. Not to mention that almost each year certain number of its students are also appointed under State ministry of law. It has also seen growing support of Bihar Govt and especially IT ministry by sponsoring its various moot competitions and research centers.

-CONS- Corporate culture is still underdeveloped, and if i am not wrong it has almost only 5-10 on-campus placements and 15-20 PPOs every year. But corporate culture is increasing under the administration of Faizan Mustafa. I stalked there linkedin account and saw that they recently introduced various tier1 and 2 law firm partners and SC advocates as a part of their career counselling commitee and various other committees.

So, the core question here is what I should choose a high rewarding but risky gamble like DU 5yr law Vs. a comparatively stable option like CNLU Patna

If this is the firm I think it is, i think they had removed the person as an associate and then after the victim/ complaining person left, hired him back AND promoted him.

If it's the same firm, a certain ▮▮▮ firm, the women management should be ashlee of themselves and everyone should avoid working with that firm.

Don't bother if you don't have connections at this tage. I hate to be this blunt, but t1 firms won't give a rat's ass about 20 cr deals as mentioned above, these are far too small to ever be able to afford even heavily discounted t1 rates.

if you dont have connections, network, build some references, present yourself well to clients of your firm and try to get to a point where you will know someone who can bring business around 7-8 year PQE. It also does get easier with experience as your childhood friends might move into senior positions, you handle client meetings etc, you build a network naturally if you present yourself well and do good work.

Own up to your mistake. Do not lie to your Partner. He may yell at you and even fire you but he will find sulutions.

A lost job is better than Partner and Client filing a complaint of professional misconduct.

Even to file an application, you need the client's permission.

The Dialogue has ▮▮▮ staffing issues and HR policies because there's simply no HR there. The research associates themselves handle all the HR work. Audit should also be done of the various "artworks" done using state funds such as the eyesores "designed" by the former CM and those she inspired. If you can't do even that, then why would others take your query seriously either? To answer your question, Dialogue takes interns every month. However, they don't always respond to the applications unless they select the applicant for the next level of scrutiny.

Made a big mistake at work :(. So i work in this firm we all have different clients assigned. So for one of this client i was appearing in district court of delhi, filed vakalat, WS and affidavit of submission/denial, all good then due to some issue this matter got deleted from my internal MIS. Due to i didnt have record of this matter and didnt appear in subsequent dates for like 3-4 hearings. So the judge passed order and our defense is now struck off. Currently the other opposite party's evidence is going on.

Now this is like one of the most premium client of our firm which pays big but recently relationship between the client and our firm has not been much good. If this thing gets our that their defense is struck off and proceedings are running ex-parte, my partner will surely fire me and id be left without job so i cant even tell him about this.

The client doesnt have inhouse legal so they havent figured it out, and issue is i dont have any SA, PA like other associates in my firm, as i directly work with Partner so can only report to him. But i can never reveal this to him.

So what can i do, i know i can file Order IX Rule 7 app. to set aside the order but would this even work after multiple absenses in dates and defense struck off. I fear the judgement be passed against us as our written statement and arguments wont be considered.

How do young lawyers handle these chats when you’re not confident on the spot? What do you actually say so you don’t come off like you know everything and give false hope, but still reassure them you’ll look into it properly and get back?
