So NALSAR, Hyderabad has come up with this new 2- year LLM , in collaboration with IICA. It would be conducted partly at NALSAR and partly at IICA campus, New Delhi. Since it's a practical course, wherein internships are mandatory, it makes sense to pursue it since it wouldn't be a conventional LLM then . Plus it also has placements - I hope you guys might have heard of Graduate Insolvency Programme, it is conducted by the same institute, they place guys at Big 4 and Tier -1 firms.

The only issue is the fees - 15 lakhs. IDK the ROI would be at par or not, considering the course has started this year only , plus its of 2 years also.

I gave the interview and am pretty confident about it, but dont know what to if i am selected. 15L is something which would't do without a loan, and i am from a middle class family., What needs to be done?

No LLM is worth it unless you want to go to academia and teach. Mostly non NLU or lower NLU people do LLM just so they can boast a tag of an NLU. Trust me no one cares. You will not have a day zero like the LLB folks. No Tier 1 law firm will come to campus to recruit you. In fact you may have a better chance of joining a tier 1 firm if you spend that one or two year you would waste in LLM by working in a tier 2 firm. You can always rise upwards WITHOUT any ostentatious degree.

Soo this year I am also thinking of giving the exam as clat results are being delayed a lot so not in a secure position rn i am mean i will get a clg but idk if the course will start on time. So did u do that 2 year IBL llm From Nalsar. How was ur experience n is it worth the fees?? Please tell no

Absolutely right. Even as someone doing a foreign LLM, I'd say you don't wanna be forking out any amount of money for an LLM (and certainly not going through that specific set of headaches and bother in transitioning from LLB to LLM) if you don't want to go into academia. Unless you're in a situation like having a training contract at a UK firm that starts after a while, meaning you have about a year to spare, really don't bother with an LLM if you want to be a practicing lawyer!

See I am currently enrolled in this LLM IBL program. The course is curated very well and give us good understanding however there are no good faculty for this course which are hired by NALSAR Hyderabad nor IICA. Internship is something which you need to manage on your own or college committee provides you. There is no guarantee of placement

Registrar and VC told on 1st day we are here to give you knowledge. Placement is not something which is guaranteed in any course. Looking at the 1st batch the situation is clear easily what is shown abd what is charged id not delivered

Students is himself responsible for everything

I gave my CLAT PG 2025 this year but I don't think I will get good NLU. The thing is I have done my LLB from state university and it does not hold any value either. However, I have like 3 years of work experience but I was still not able to secure job in good firm. I was wondering if the tag will work. But anyway I do not think CLAT is bringing anything. So I was scrolling through this course and found it interesting but quite expensive, so I want to know whether it is worth it? If not what should be my approach please guide me

I was from the very first batch of the LLM-IBL Course, you will not be getting much assistance in placements and internships, it would be something that the students of the batch work for, on their own.

IICA also caters PGIP much better than the LLM-IBL batches and their placement methodology is also geared towards PGIP (opportunities being mostly from ARCs and IPEs). Hence, it does not work for LLM students who wish to pursue profession of Law in the Commercial/ Corporate fields.

Fee wise also the 14L which were paid by 1st batch could not be redeemed due to lackluster management and non existent placement drive. I don't know the situation about the second batch though and a third batch has also started.

Both the institutes are not inclined to make much efforts for the long term success of the course, which is evident by the course covered by IICA which is not beneficial for LLM scholars and will be better for someone who wishes not be a Lawyer but a compliance professional.

This is despite the constant feedback the student body has given to the institutes for providing a competitive course structure which can actually be beneficial for post graduates.

See if you can get into the LLM in Insolvency course introduced by NLU Delhi as it also gives you a PGIP certification (although its first batch is yet to be completed and their results are yet to be seen).

You are better off avoiding the NNL-IBL offered by NALSAR and IICA.
