We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

I've graduated and now work at a pretty good law firm.
Accounting firms are really not worth it
Your point; not many are NUS grads (factually wrong; check their website. Many of the faculty graduated NUS law).
They are not leading academics (factually wrong, many of them in the above category itself, are leading their field in criminal law, arbitration, law and society. If you were old enough to remember Stanley Yeo's visit to NUJS and NLS, you'll clearly not be even making such a silly, patently obvious, argument).
They don't go on to lead companies (factally wrong: check their placement stats, most of their grads are in the top law firms in the US and UK, in addition to Singapore itself of course).
So your first point on the data not supporting it is baseless and made out of some weird fetish, perhaps inferiority-impelled, to be salty for no reason and without any research. Stop being a troll.
It may not - you might take the secret to your grave - but there are stories of people being caught out by stuff like this 10-20 years into their career - forget the ethics, it's simply stupid - it's risking Rs 10,000 to try and gain Rs 100.
How is Aakash Chaubey’s team? I've heard him speak about mental health several times, and he keeps advocating for it. How is he as a boss? Also, which other corporate M&A teams are considered better at KCo?
Good luck and enjoy the city of dream's.

These are students from law colleges affiliated with CU, rather than NUJS. These colleges may not be prestigious, and their students may not be from well-off families and heading towards glamorous careers in CAM and AZB. But they have shown great courage and integrity by speaking out.

One more doubt, does these big names make it easy anyhow to get a job at T2-T3 in future? Thanks.
Just joined a t3 nlu. I'm pretty sure that i have adhd and anxiety but yet to get it officially diagnosed. I'm really struggling here and overwhelmed. I don't even know whether I wanna do law tbh. I don't even know how to describe this feeling. Everyone else is getting through and doing their work properly but I'm just sitting there anxious filled with self doubt. I don't know if this is what I wanna do or this is where I wanna work. I don't know if I like litigation or corporate law or anything. I also don't know if I will be able to put in the effort required and be able to cope up with the long and stressful work hours. I feel stuck and I don't think I can really quit because I've got pretty much no alternatives. Few people I asked said that 1st sem is like that and I'll get to know if I like it or not from 2nd year onwards. I know this is probably late to ask, but please advise on what I should do to get through. If you guys can also give some info about how the jobs are and such after nlus it would help. Everyone here is also saying that publications and mooting and other such stuff is pretty essential and i dont know how i feel about that. Please help guys i just dont know what to do I feel just despair. Homesickness hits hard too. I also saw the exam papers and those look so hard too idk what im going to do.
thanks for patiently reading.
Till now, I haven't seen single firm checking the same.
If I just write in my cv that I've done this internship, how do they verify? If they get to know, what action will they take.
Sibal and Menaka are entitled to represent the TMC govt and defend their actions. But this is obviously not likely to win them public adulation.

In contrast, look at Bikash Bhattacharya of the Left. A proper gentleman who never abuses and is practically invisible on social media. He could have used his status as a Senior Advocate and Rajya Sabha MP to set up base in Delhi and mint crores, but he chose not to do so. Sadly, Gen Z ignores such people.
Coming to Gopal, he may have also opted out because of the risk of losing goodwill, but the fiasco over Mahua and the dog may have also have made him wary of representing the state. Imagine the amount of trolling the poor guy would have had to face if he appeared in this case?
As for Menaka, I think her reputation among the public has suffered irreparably because, unlike Sibal, she had a halo around her as a human rights defender. That's all gone now. Was she that desperate for clients that she had to accept this case? Look at Karuna Nundy is contrast. She too is a TIME 100 awardee, a Senior Advocate and human rights activist. She is representing the doctors.
Freedom is Slavery
Ignorance is Strenth
Both sides are looking for brownie points against each other for their own agendas and in all these troubles, the ones who are at the receiving end of it are our juniors, the 1st year students. They at one side have fear of being boycotted by seniors and everyone if they say anything to the enquiry committee and on the other side, they have fear from authority/admin if they don't speak in the enquiry properly. This college has become a mess.
One of the first things I learned as a qualified lawyer is that it is we who are responsible for putting together the laws on which we advise our clients. The internet is your best friend so putting together all amendments, circulars, and notifications would be the first step of your research, following which you actually read the law and give advice.
The state, unfortunately, has a monopoly on lawmaking and it does not have any incentive to compile every law in a systematic manner unless it erodes faith and trust in a major manner in our government. It is the same reason why the SEBI website is all decked up with regulations amended on a weekly to monthly basis and you can't find a single consolidated set of rules issued by a state under the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017 (based on actual experience).
All three firms present a similarly challenging environment across at least four of the following parameters: (1) excessively demanding working hours, including weekends; (2) inhumane treatment of employees; (3) unreasonable deadlines; (4) toxic seniors; (5) a complete lack of work-life balance, with expectations of availability 24/7, 365 days a year; and (6) constant stress, leading to a deterioration of mental well-being.
Given this context, I am contemplating whether to accept an offer from TL or SM, both of which are offering a more predictable compensation package in the range of INR 45-50 LPA (including bonuses), or from JS, which offers a fluctuating package that could range from INR 25-50 LPA. However, it is worth noting that JS's offer, despite the higher potential, lacks certainty, and in practice, employees typically earn around INR 30 LPA after factoring in bonuses and revenue share, despite the considerable effort invested.
All three firms are based in Mumbai and operate within the B&F sector. Which option would be more prudent to consider?
Indeed, instead of culling monkeys we should be discussing population control measures among humans.
YES. Temporarily.

I am a 2024 batch pass out with no offers in hand, I've given a couple of interviews here and there in some T2 boutiques (hopeful that at least one will convert). Nonetheless, I am curious to know whether these long term assessments at Luthra's do pan out, or do they slog you for 6 months straight with no chances of getting hired. My CV is primarily PE/VC based, with the majority of my Tier-1 experience being pertinent to this niche.
Please be considerate and let me know if you actually have an idea how these things go down. I highly appreciate it.
Now, if students do that, it is quite right, isn't it? But if a faculty gets angry over the fact that they were mistreated, then it's abuse of power?
Get your story right, then paint your narrative. Don't be childish like these 15-16 students, who're even fifth years, sadly.
Even companies like ITC, which have deep roots in Kolkata, are shifting key operations to Bengaluru—a clear sign of missed opportunities in West Bengal. HUL is also focusing its expansions in more business-friendly states, and Haldia is facing industrial stagnation. These trends highlight the serious impact of mismanagement on West Bengal’s economy, showing just how much potential has been lost.
Politics shouldn’t be a left vs. right showdown. The real issue is whether leaders are getting things done or not, whether they’re implementing sound policies that actually benefit people. Instead of getting caught up in ideological battles, we should be focusing on competence—on who’s actually delivering results. At the end of the day, what matters is real progress, not party lines.
DYC and Roy… rather not comment.
Keep applying to firms, send a follow up mail or call them to follow up. If you don't have any location preference, try in Tier II cities because the competition is less.
Also, try cold mailing to partners, it works.
All the best
For context, a large number of TMC-linked accounts on social media are continuing to float the suicide theory and engaging in cheap gossip disrespecting the memory of the victim. I am not going to share the links because it will only give these accounts more views and engagements, but if you trawl around the major TMC accounts you’ll get these posts auto-suggested to you by the algorithm.
Don't worry about not studying tax beforehand. It's a very vast subject, especially income tax act. When they give you a work, go through the relevant provision and understand it, that would suffice. It isn't possible to go through income tax act in a few days, but if you do want to understand the basics go through the heads of income, appeal procedure, assessment and reassessment proceedings.
Good luck.
