Don't worry about not studying tax beforehand. It's a very vast subject, especially income tax act. When they give you a work, go through the relevant provision and understand it, that would suffice. It isn't possible to go through income tax act in a few days, but if you do want to understand the basics go through the heads of income, appeal procedure, assessment and reassessment proceedings.
