This is my first post on LI. I am a graduate from a private law school (batch of 2021). I have interned at KCO, shardul, trilegal, chandhiok, dua, regulatory authorities like CCI and IBBI, as well as courts and other small to mid tier firms. (Yes Sir, I am a Nepo Kid)
Over my 5 years of law school (joined law due to no guidance and during covid, huge health issues and several deaths in family so needed to pick something), and interacting with associates, partners and lawyers, I am not built for the law firm life.
I am thinking about joining in house. I know it’s not a cakewalk or a PSU job but still much better than law firms. I have had a difficult time throughout school and college due to BPD of family members, and cannot take much more.
Would I be better off with banks like ICICI and HDFC or should I pursue some other in house roles?
Any other insight would be much appreciated.
2. Do not let the stress lead you into smoking or drinking. You're going to be in this profession for 30+ years. This cannot be the way you cope.
If you do not have that sort of conviction, do at least a couple of years at a Firm so you can move laterally 5-7 years down the line if litigation is not working out for you.
Equally important is to figure out the area of practice since litigation is no longer just civil-criminal law.

The service itself is not defined anywhere, nor is the subscription model aside from "we will charge you a subscription" – nothing on renewal or cancellation. More on subscription payments, their privacy policy mentions they will directly store your credit/debit card info – a HUGE red flag since they definitely don't have PCI-DSS compliance nor do they seem savvy enough to set up a third-party payment gateway (else why mention you're storing this information?).
They also seem to be collecting WAY too much information (IP, browser details, device ID, profiles, websites visited, search terms, mobile carrier, location data, public sharing) – this is on top of the personal details they collect on signup. Either they don't collect all of this and have an oddly crappy privacy policy, or they do collect it and are practically running spyware in the name of "training young lawyers".

Lastly, if it wasn't clear enough already, their information sharing policy makes it very clear they're just collecting this information to sell it to advertisers. It even goes so far to mention "For the advertisements, the advertisers need to study their audience and their needs and so the information sharing becomes necessary". Imagine asking young legal students and professionals to pay a subscription for a service where they are the product.
It is genuinely disappointing to see such subpar legal work from a "legal influencer". I hope this debacle makes it clear that the ones focused on building a personal brand on social media in this field are typically doing it because their work won't build that brand.
Keep your head high and keep grinding. There'll be tons of vacancies across T1s in the coming few months, you'll land a better opportunity for sure. Best of luck!

Requesting only experienced individuals to answer, as inexperienced or mildly experienced ones are usually starry eyed and dazed by all partners.

if you want to be a solicitor in the UK, the first question you have to answer is what extra can you bring to the table? ambition is not enough, what would be your USP? to be a fully qualified solicitor you need 2 PQE and pass SQE 1&2. You can do the prep with online courses from Uni of law (they were Aakash of the UK, now they have become a uni). However, once you are qualified what are you going to do next? Law firms dont want to hire international students/solicitors (unless they bring something special), they want pale male stale even if the brochures look suspiciously well balanced. to become an independent solicitor you would need around 3 crores INR, if you walk the streets of southall or any of the ethnically dominated streets you would find such street lawyers on each corner, they charge 1500 GBP for filing immigration application (not assylum but just regular visa application). Would you like to hustle?
if you dont want to go the SQE route, you can check out the CILEX, this is like a part time lawyer route, you can do conveyancing and a bunch of other stuff, however, with gne-AI coming in most of the low level drafting stuff is out of the window, clients now dont want to spend 5000 GBP for lawyers, they would represent themselves in the court, FT has a nice article on impact of AI on low level lawyers, who are now starved of clients, the court system is quite streamlined in the UK, so navigating is not a problem, previously the value added from solicitors were they would draft the petitiotn, however, now AI can do a better job for example in an employment tribunal where the matters are mostly factual with a sprinkling of law.
the only thing that you can do without much effort is to become an immigration adviser, you need to pass a couple of exams IAA. prep in india, Come to the UK on a tourist visa, give exam go back. once you pass the exam, find out the cheapest masters programme in a third rate uni, costs should be less than 10k GBP, come to the UK, open your own shop giving immigration advice, get on the assylum panel, you would print money, after your degree you have 18 more months of post study visa, your aim should be earn as much as you can, so that you can apply for the own company visa (target is 80k pa, if you can get 80 clients, you shall reach that). or you can do what a lot of South Asians do, find a british person and marry them.
If you have genuine first-hand experience, share it openly and own it. If not, trying to crowdsource character assassination under the guise of “looking for genuine advice” is just lazy trolling.
