The Supreme Court advocates-on-record (AOR) exam this year will be held on 3, 4, 5, and 6 June 2013. All advocates who have completed one-year’s continuous training under an AOR as of tomorrow will be eligible to write the exam.
The last date to submit application forms is 6 May, according to the Supreme Court’s 23 April 2013 notification.
Out of the five papers in the exam’s curriculum, paper III on book keeping and accounts was replaced last year by “Advocacy and Professional Ethics”. The notification also states:
Candidates who are desirous of exercising their option to re-appear this year in Paper-III under Regulation 11(i) and (ii) of the Regulations shall also re-appear in the paper “Advocacy and Professional Ethics” with maximum marks of 100.
Candidates are not allowed to absent themselves from this examination without showing cause else they will be barred from taking this examination again without the permission of a “Board of Examiners”. The rule debarring candidates who fail all five papers from taking the exam the next year, remains unchanged.
Only 66 out of 466 candidates who took the exam in June 2012 passed it accounting for a pass percentage of 14 per cent, having dropped from 18 per cent in 2011.
