Orbit Law Services has promoted four of its partners into equity, following the retirement of co-founding partner PV Rao and a corresponding widening and redistribution of equity.
Damodara Rao, who had left Clasis Law with Orbit senior partner Ishtiaq Ali to start up Orbit with third co-founding partner PV Rao, was elevated to the senior partner designation alongside partners Ashok Kamble and T Ravichandran.
Orbit Law Services added former National Bank of Argriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) in-house lawyer T Ravinchandran as a partner to head the firm’s Chennai office and its corporate and commercial litigation practice. The firm also added three associate partners.
Orbit Law Services, which was started up last year by Clasis Law project finance breakaway partners Ishtiaq Ali and Damodara Rao, with PV Rao, opened its fourth national office in Chennai, after Delhi, Mumbai and Vijaywada.
Orbit associate partner Haridas Sriramulu and one associate from the firm were relocated to the Chennai office which is headed by PV Rao from Mumbai.
The firm, which was started up in September 2014, has a team of 35 lawyers including two senior partners, four partners, seven associate partners, two senior consultants, four senior associates and 16 associates, according to the press release.
Clasis Mumbai breakaway Orbit Law Offices has opened an Andhra Pradesh office – its third national office since starting up in October 2014.
The Andhra office is in the state’s new capital, Vijaywada, and will be run by the firm’s lawyers Surya Mohan Yerramilli, Venkata Muralidhar Kandukuri and Bharadwajam Ponnada.
Former Clasis Mumbai projects partners Ishtiaq Ali and Damodara Rao started up Orbit after breaking away from Clasis with their team. On starting up Orbit had five partners and 10 other lawyers, as reported by Legally India.
