Orbit Law Services added former National Bank of Argriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) in-house lawyer T Ravinchandran as a partner to head the firm’s Chennai office and its corporate and commercial litigation practice. The firm also added three associate partners.
Ravichandran has more than 30 years of experience and has also had a stint as the head, legal of the Sanmar Group of Companies, according to Orbit’s press release.
Orbit also added a new taxation practice head- litigation lawyer Nirjay Singh who, according to the press release, has over 16 years of experience in tax litigation. Singh joined as an associate partner in Mumbai.
Former Delhi-based law firm Gladhurst’ founder Sanam Singh joined as an associate partner in Delhi and independent litigation lawyer Vinita Hombalkar joined as an associate partner in Mumbai.
Singh is dual qualified and also had stints working with Simmons & Simmons and Taylor Wessing. She specialises in corporate and commercial law.
Vinita Hombalkar has more than 25 years experience and specialises in debt recovery matters, insolvency laws and trust and will related matters.
The new hires take Orbit to a headcount of nearly 50, including senior founding partners Ishtiaq Ali and PV Rao, 5 partners, 10 associate partners, and a Senior Consultant on Islamic finance, as well as 2 principal associates, and 3 senior associates.
Orbit has been growing rapidly since setting up in September 2014 with two former Clasis Law partners - Ishtiaq Ali and Damodara Rao - as a five-partner, 10-lawyer firm.
They quickly followed with an office in Andhra Pradesh, and a fourth office in Chennai one year ago.
