SAM bagged the mandate for Facebook and AZB for Reliance on India’s largest ever foreign-direct investment in a tech company, which values Reliance’s Jio Platform subsidiary at Rs 4.62 lakh crore (or nearly $66bn), with Mark Zuckerberg’s US technology giant buying itself a 9.9% stake in Jio Platforms Limited.

Engineering giant, Larsen and Toubro Ltd (L&T) has entered into a definitive agreement with UK-based subsidiary of Colfax Group, ESAB Holdings, to sell 100% stake of its wholly owned unlisted subsidiary EWAC Alloys, for a total consideration of Rs. 522 crores ($80.6m) as reported by Livemint & Moneycontol. The transaction is a part of L&T group’s strategy to divest from their non-core business and is expected to be completed within 60 days from the date of execution of the share purchase agreement.

"Budget hotels chain FabHotels has raised $25 million in a Series B funding round led by Goldman Sachs, a top company executive said. Accel Partners, an existing investor in FabHotels, also participated in the round," reported Mint.

Former AZB & Partners senior associate and ex-Jones Day lawyer Priya Mehra was promoted to of counsel at US law firm Gibson Dunn & Crutcher’s Singapore office, effective January 2014.

Mehra is part of the firm’s India practice which was also strengthened by former AZB senior associate Bharat Vansh Bahadur in 2013, according to a press release from the firm.

Mehra, who obtained an LLB in 2002 from Delhi University and joined AZB until 2007, worked at Jones Day Singapore before joining Gibson Dunn in 2008. She is dual qualified to practice in India and England & Wales.

“Ms. Mehra has an extensive background working in the Indian markets and her experience includes advising foreign investors in formation of joint ventures in India and/or acquiring stakes in Indian companies; advising private equity investors on the most viable investment options in India vis-à-vis foreign investment guidelines; advising Indian companies in forming joint ventures and acquiring stakes in overseas companies; and advising Indian and foreign investors in acquiring government equity in public sector undertakings, including advice on key issues related to status of government companies and implications of change in status,” stated the release.

Ten foreign law firms will now be allowed to practice local law in Singapore, after the country’s law ministry approved four new Qualified Foreign Law Practice (QFLP) licences out of 23 total applicants.
