IndusLaw, Gibson Dunn on Amplus, ISQ buy of SunEdison solar SPVs

IndusLaw and Gibson Dunn advised Amplus Energy Solutions and I-Squared Capital on their acquisition of various SunEdison Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV) developing and operating around 7 MW rooftop solar power assets in India. SunEdison was advised in house.

Indus partner Avirup Nag, principal associate Abhishek Bhalla and associates Rohan Ghosh, Niyati Bhatt and Shaima Khan acted for Amplus and ISQ

SunEdison general counsel Vinay Bhatia and in house lawyers Meghna Singh and Sujata Kukreja acted for the company.

“The US solar energy company initiated the sale of its Indian assets after ballooning debt led it to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on 22 April, Reuters reported. In its bankruptcy filing, the company said it had assets of $20.7 billion and liabilities of $16.1 billion as of 30 September 2015,” reported Mint.
