NUJS Kolkata professor Shamnad Basheer, who was heavily involved in the Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access initiative (IDIA) in the run-up to the CLAT that was organised by NUJS Kolkata this year, told Legally India that the final and full list of scores would be published tomorrow.

The scores and rankings that students began accessing since late last night following the crash of the clat.ac.in website, by themselves could not tell students much about their relative performance because they did not into take account tied grades, conceded Basheer.

Tomorrow’s list would contain the full list of all scores including tie-breaks, and allow students to see which preference of college they had achieved.

He acknowledged that there was also a problem in some answer sheets with underlined answers, as reported by Legally India on 16 May after the exam, but that all CLAT takers would get full points on those questions, irrespective of their answers.

The CLAT website faced 11 lakh hits over a very short time period yesterday, according to Basheer, which caused the server to become inaccessible to the majority of students at 6pm on Saturday when the results were officially due to be available.

Basheer declined to specify a time that the results would be uploaded tomorrow to prevent a recurrence of the server crash.

While Basheer was part of the CLAT committee at NUJS he was not involved in setting the paper and the examination process, owing to a potentially perceived conflict given his involvement with IDIA. He is now involved again in the core CLAT team since results are now final and declared.

Legally India will report the CLAT results as soon as they are out tomorrow and directly link to a copy of the results on a separate, bullet-proof server, as well as publicise the link via our Facebook page and Twitter. Keep tuned.
