NLU Jodhpur’s 2 April Day Zero of recruitment for the 2020 graduating batch in combination with strong pre-placement offers (PPOs) has yielded a total of 42 confirmed job offers or vacation placements, as well as three sought-after vacation schemes with international firms.
The batch of 101 students, of whom 60 subscribed for recruitment through the Recruitment and Internship Coordination Committee (RICC), saw eight law firms make a total of 29 offers on Day Zero, of which 16 were accepted by students.
PPOs brought in a total of 23 accepted jobs, according to figures provided by the RICC (see full table below).
This year’s Day Zero managed to improve on last year’s, where Jodhpurians as at the same time had secured 32 jobs to begin in 2019.
International law firm Linklaters offered 2 vacation schemes in London, which traditionally have a good chance of becoming high-paying training contracts that (after a sponsored conversion course for up to a year) pay £47,000 (around Rs 42 lakh per year), increasing to £52,500 after one year and £83,000 (Rs 75 lakh) after two years.
Herbert Smith Freehills offered one more vacation scheme in London, which pays similarly.
The top domestic recruiter was Trilegal, which saw 8 students elect to join the firm, of whom 5 had secured PPOs previously.
Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, picked up 7 (including 4 PPOs), while L&L Partners hired 6 (including 4 PPOs).
Khaitan & Co hired a total of 5, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas hired 4.
Desai & Diwanji and Majmudar & Partners each hired one student via Day Zero recruitments.
Via PPOs, ICICI Bank hired 2, while Robert Half Legal and MZM Legal each picked up one student.
The RICC commented: “The successful start of the recruitment process has to be attributed to the University’s Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Poonam Saxena and Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh, Director of the Recruitment and Internship Co-ordination Committee. Additionally, we also thank the firms that participated in our Day Zero for their continued co-operation and support. We look forward to continuing to host some of the best recruiters for the Class of 2020 and our subsequent classes.”

To improve research, the first thing to do is scrap the UGC framework for career advancement. Thats a system that incentivises quantity over quality. The ranking systems however look at quality.
Obviously these numbers are averages and approximations to give the readers an insight into why they lack on research and writing.
1. You don't need to be in a big city to attract star recruiters.
2. The more you reach out to alumni the more they will help you prosper.
3.Hard work pays.
HAS GOT 25+18=43 DAY ZERO PLACEMENTS.
YOU SHOULD HEAR FROM THE PLACEMENT COMMITTEE SOON.
MOST OF THEM HAVE BEEN OFFERED BY TOP 7 LAW FIRMS.
TRILEGAL BEING THE BIGGEST RECRUITER.
20 day zero offers (14 accepted, all big 6 + desai) and 14 PPOs (all big 6) = 28 placements (34 offers in total). RCC strength 50ish.
Excluding PPOs and offers from institutions like were Robert,Mzm, Icici and foreign firms Nluj lands at 35 which is pretty comparable to Nliu's 28. So not much of a difference.
Obviously nluj trumps at foreign firms so kudos to the students over there. I don't really think the college matters wrt to foreign firms as long as the students belong a premier law college.
I was wondering about JSA not giving out an offer to NLUJ students. I have come to understand from LI comments that it pays less. I am really clueless about the packages that are being offered from the Big 6 and what kind of monies are being offered by JSA.
Can anybody help figure out as to what kind of figures are we talking about here?
As for the rest of the firms, these are the approx amounts paid to the 2018 batch (and presumably the same for 2019, since no increments or revisions have been announced):
1. Luthra - 15.6 LPA including signing bonus of 50k. Works out to 99k / month, with the remainder coming in bonus. (CAVEAT - I've heard they pay less to non-top NLUs and other law schools, might change according to rumors).
2. SAM - About 15 LPA, no bonus in first year, they pay you extra if you are near the top of your class.
3. CAM - Around 16 LPA including bonus.
4. Trilegal - They pay slightly less than 16 LPA.
5. AZB - Final amount is a bit variable, base pay is 14.4 LPA, works out to 108,000 cash in hand every month.
6. KCO - 14.4 LPA for base as well, works out to 108,000 again. With bonus it's about 16 LPA.
TLDR; everyone pays 15-16 LPA.
Thank you for the above comment, I am sure a lot of people would appreciate your input! :)
I am being pretty realistic with my chances and would love to have your opinion on the Tier II firms and how handsomely do they pay. You would actually help out a lot of us.
