The Bar Council of India (BCI) has published the preparation materials and model questions and answers for the new all India bar exam that is proposed to take place on 5 December 2010.
The model question paper consists of 100 multiple-choice questions across 20 subjects and should be completed in three-and-a-half hours.
The preparatory materials consist of two books, with the second book weighing in at 173 pages.
The paper includes a mix of factual and short problem questions, ranging across two categories. Category I consists of seven questions each from the following general subjects: alternative dispute resolution (ADR); the Civil Procedure Code and Limitation Act; constitutional law; contract law, including specific relief, special contracts, and negotiable instruments; criminal law I: the Indian Penal Code; criminal procedure; drafting pleading and conveyancing; evidence; jurisprudence; professional ethics and the professional code of conduct for advocates and property law.
Category II consists of 23 questions across the following specialist subjects, covering at least five different areas: administrative law; company law; environmental law; family law; human rights law; labour and industrial law; law of tort, including motor vehicle accidents, and consumer protection law; principles of taxation law; and public international law.
The pass mark is 40 correct questions out of 100, with candidates having to score at least 31 marks in the first section and nine marks in the second section, according to the BCI’s bar exam frequently asked questions (FAQs).

Great job keeping it under wraps, for had it surfaced prematurely, you can bet your bottom rupee that state bar councils and certain advocates with vested interests would have stalled the exam and even outlawed these prep materials.
I just hope that these are available to the law students in the far flung regions of the country which are not easily accessible due to being cut off from civilisation. Such as ...Kolkata!!
Oh boy, get ready for NUJS flames now.
Secondly, if the bar exam is meant to test whether one is qualified to practice law after 3 or 5 years of studying, then why is study material being provided? It defeats the entire purpose of having bar exam to see if a candidate has learnt his law in his 3 or 5 years of studying or not
What they are doing here ? What they have done so far ? Day Dreaming ?
They are questioning their own credibility by introducing Bar Examination.
shame on the BCI for setting such an easy paper.
I suggest that the BCI hold an alternative exam for the NUJS students which is fit for their level. Here are some sample questions (5 marks each):
1. Does India have a Constitution (Y/N)?
2. Which of the following represents clients before courts of law? (Doctors/Plumbers/Carpenters/Advocates)
3. Mention the names of any 2 subjects you studied in law school.
NUJS students struggling to solve these questions can contact me for help.
Oh yes! It has been exposed!
Dozens of students have been recruited by Amarchand, Luthra, Khaitan and Trilegal wiht avarage packages in excess of 12 lacs per annum. Yes the quality has been exposed. See www.legallyindia.com/201007301156/Law-schools/nujs-finds-early-law-firm-homes-for-30-finalists

Finally FYI...BCI and Rainmaker conductd a 'Calibrated Test' in law schools ranked at different tiers to correct determine as to what should be the difficulty level of the Bar Exam.
The tier I college that was selected was WBNUJS, Kolkata. Symbiosis law school (which some magazines rank above NUJS) was at tier 2. You see...BCI and Rainmaker know that the difference between NUJS and Symbi is not of ranks...but of one full damn tier.
@ 14...get your IQ levels checked.
Examination fee 1300/- * 50000 student=calculate the amount Mr. 10
Where the money goes then ?
Why they are enrolling students before examination then ?
Simple Money Making Game in disguised form.
Examination cost should be free.
You poor batch of 2010 good luck.

Moreover, have the law graduates passing in 2009-10 got anything more in their curriculum or syllabus which their predecessors did not get? Is there any change in the system of court practice of lawyers who r to join the bar in 2010? If so, do they need any kind of special knowledge or expertise for the same?
Most important thing is that will those lawyers passing the exam get any kind of remuneration or pension benefit etc. from the Govt.? If Govt. is treating the lawyers of 2010 separately from their predecessors then they must provide the former some benefits, isn't it?
If after passing the exam still the 2010 lawyers are treated at per with earlier lawyers then the exam is nothing but a waste of time...
Still searching for answers of my questions...
