Shearman & Sterling has promoted Hong Kong-based M&A counsel and India co-head Sidharth Bhasin to its partnership.
According to a Shearmans press release, Bhasin and four others were elevated to partnership earlier this month.
In the press release the firm stated that Bhasin “helps lead the firm’s India practice” and focuses on “private equity investments and exits, mergers and acquisitions, and restructurings and workouts” for Asian clients.
He is qualified to practice law in New York and Hong Kong, having begun his career at Kelley Drye & Warren in New York.
In 2006 he joined Debevoise & Plimpton in Hong Kong and moved to Shearmans in 2008.
Bhasin completed a bachelor of commerce from the University of Delhi, followed by a Cardiff Law School degree at the University of Wales and an LLM at Cornell University in 2001.
He commented: “I am delighted at being elected to Shearman’s partnership. We are widely recognized as having a top-tier, market leading India practice and I look forward to working with other partners of the firm to further enhance our coverage and leadership position in India.”
