B&B reports that his team has also been asked to leave. Is he joining CAM with his team? Why else will SAM ask a senior partner and his entire team to leave the firm? Kian, is there any additional information on this?

Also heard that Amarchand shutting down its IP vertical since its not been able to compete with other IP Firms.

@Kian : can you confirm the data theft charge? Almost incredible that a whole team should be accused of data theft! Am fairly sure Mr. R. Negi would not have to depend on SAM's database for giving IPR advice! He's been doing it for last god knows how many years.

Had it been some Noida type oldest-greatest-largest-smartest-global-national firms, it could have been easily inferred that these 'data theft' charges have been brought to scare people who ask for long pending dues! But surely this cannot be the case with a sound and hugely successful firm like AMSS!

Partner, principal associate and 2 senior associates 'asked to leave' (expelled). 3 hours of data printing noticed on their computers based on which data theft was alleged. All drafts seized.

This doesnt make too much sense. Data theft : lets face it. Everyone does it sometime or the other. When you take a print and carry it home (and then obviously don't destroy it), isnt that data theft? So if I did that once every 3 days, I wudnt get caught but would have some 100 documents with me by the end of the year! People mail themselves documents sometimes for working at home. Thats data theft? (Certain) law firms take it to ridiculous extents : this is just paranoia. Cannot believe such senior lawyers would try something so naiive - to try take all prints together at the same time! Daal mein kuch kaala hai.

All of us know that you try to pilfer data when you have already made up your mind to leave and need what you have yourself generated. Leaving in April suggests that they must have decided to leave enmasse and the reason could be either the bonus or some offer. This is a way to besmirch their reputation-- the grapes are sour. The loyalists who are trolling on scandalous conduct reveal by their behaviour that it was a loss which the management is unable to digest.

Partner had resigned by himself. Subsequently the senior associate was caught with objectionable documents in his possession. Client lists and email id's were deleted. All this was monitored and only then the decision of seeking the resignations from the rest three was taken.

When do ppl (esp partners) work in SAM? With all the politics, gossip and back-biting, do they actually get any time for real work? I doubt it very much indeed.

Its not the whole team which has been asked to leave. Only 3 people were asked to leave. Rest of the trade marks team is still with firm and functional as always.

I know Ranjan very well and there is no way he would need to print the templates or copy client list. Today no one would do that at a Partner level mainly in the era of social networking. Kian, you must clarify this issues to stop speculation. No one should be allowed to play with someone career mainly when there is no truth in the news.
