Shetty: Bulks Juris Corp litigation
Hariani & Co litigation head and partner Ranjit Shetty has joined Juris Corp in Mumbai.

Shetty, a University of Mumbai dual law and commerce graduate from 1997, specialises in arbitration and litigation in real estate, commercial laws and government tenders, as well as criminal litigation.

His joining would bolster the firm’s dispute practice, said senior partner Mustafa Motiwala in a press release.

Hariani & Co partner and office manager Madhavi Hariani commented: “People move on occasionally, good luck to him. Attrition at higher levels is a part of the growing process. Vacancies that arise will be filled up, and teams strengthened. All options would be explored for this purpose.”

History

Juris Corp litigation and real estate partner Huzefa Nasikwala had started up new firm Nasikwala Law Offices (NLO) in April 2011. He was joined in March 2012 by tax and intellectual property (IP) partner Freddy Daruwala.

In the last 12 months Juris Corp’s corporate partner Vandana Sekhri joined Amarchand Mangaldas, while the firm hired FoxMandal former litigation co-head Sandeep Mahapatra in Delhi, and the practice of Bombay solicitor Mustafa Motiwala.

In July 2009, around 46 qualified lawyers worked in Juris Corp’s Mumbai office, of whom two were founding equity partners and five were salaried partners.

Today the firm nationally has more than 53 lawyers, including 14 partners, said partner Detty Davis.
