Juris Corp partner Huzefa Nasikwala is going independent to start his own litigation and real estate practice in Mumbai.

Nasikwala, who was practicing independently and as an of counsel before joining Juris Corp in 2007 as a partner designate, said that his focus would primarily be on real estate and dispute resolution, including arbitration.

While he had not yet recruited associates, he said that he would start in June 2011 as a niche practice after his new office in Mumbai’s Fort area was fitted out.

Although not yet finalised, the firm’s name was likely to be Nasikwala Law Office. In the immediate future he had no plans to expand into a full-service set up. “If I get like minded people who want to join hands with me I may want to convert into full service law firm, say 5 years down the line.”

“I am looking to establish my independent practice and regrettably therefore have to part my association with the firm and wish Juris Corp all the very best in the years to come,” said Nasikwala (pictured) adding that he had a “wonderful and enriching” time at the firm.

Nasikwala started his career with Mulla & Mulla in Mumbai in 1999.

Juris Corp founder partner H Jayesh commented that the firm wished him all the best for his future endeavours: “He is a great lawyer and he will make his mark as a lawyer wherever he goes.”
