Kolkata-headquartered firm Aquilaw, which had opened its third national office in Mumbai last year, has promoted two associate partners to its partnership, one to associate partner and has also announced its associate promotions, according to its press release.

Aquilaw partner Sucharita Basu commented in a press release: “Aquilaw has completed three years with its offices at Kolkata being the first one, followed by Delhi and Mumbai.

“Each one of our promoted colleagues have to be acknowledged and credited for their valuable and loyal contribution towards the progress of the firm in all parameters, including mandates, turnover, knowledge & skill building, attraction & retention of talent and brand visibility. We wish them success and want them to emerge as extraordinary lawyers.”

Aquilaw had been founded by three partners in Kolkata.

New equity partners

• Suman Mukherjee (litigation, 1997 University of Calcutta graduate): Previously worked with Fox & Mandal, Kolkata, joining Aquilaw in July 2016.
• Soumya Banerjee (corporate / real estate, 2005 NUJS Kolkata graduate) Previously worked with Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Kolkata, joining Aquilaw in 2015.

New associate partner

• Amit Nag (litigation, 2002 University of Calcutta graduate). Joined Aquilaw in 2017, having been a litigation lawyer at Meharia & Co Solicitors & Advocates.

New principal associates

• Swarajit Dey (litigation, 2009 University of Calcutta graduate). Joined in 2016 from Bose & Mitra,
• Piyush Agrawal (litigation, 2014 Christ University graduate). Joined in 2016 from Meharia & Co.
• Soumen Mohanty (litigation, 2014 NLU Odisha graduate). Joined in 2017, having previously been a litigation consultant.

New senior associates

• Subhashree Pani (transactional, 2016 HNLU Raipur graduate). Had joined in 2016.
• Sneha Bhawani (transactional, 2016 JGLS Sonepat graduate). Had joined in 2017 from Vinod Kothari & Co.
• Swarnali Chanda (transactional, 2013 GNLU Gandhinagar graduate). Had joined in 2017 from Gujarat State Fertilizer & Chemicals.
