Three lateral hires will join Bharucha & Partners in Mumbai and Delhi in April as partners.

Vandana Pai Bharucha returns to practice

Vandana Pai Bharucha, former Amarchand Mangaldas Mumbai corporate partner who left in July 2014, will join in the Mumbai corporate team.

Pai Bharucha is a 2003 NLSIU Bangalore graduate who started her career at Amarchand and became partner at the firm in 2010 in the team of Mumbai corporate partner Ashwath Rau.

Rau commented: “Glad she is back in practice and wish her well.”

Shafaq Sapre JV head joins in Mumbai

Shafaq Sapre from Nishith Desai Associates (NDA), where she leads the joint ventures practice and also works in funds and real estate investments , technology and litigation and dispute resolution, will join Bharucha as a partner in Mumbai.

The GLC Mumbai graduate had joined NDA in 2007.

Update: NDA managing partner Nishith Desai commented: “I am delighted Shafaq has joined Bharucha, a great firm. I know her well and she will definitely excel there. She is like our family member and I wish her all the very best.”

Arjun Anand joins from Suri & Co to bolster Delhi

Suri & Company corporate partner Arjun Anand will join as a partner in Bharucha’s Delhi office, which was started in 2011.

Anand began his career at DSK Legal in 2005 after graduating from Symbiosis Law College, later joining Dua Associates, moving to the Dua-breakaway Tatva Legal and then Suri & Company in April 2011.

We appreciate his sincerity and competence. He is seeking fresh challenges and we wish him best of luck. Bharucha managing partner MP Bharucha confirmed all three new joiners.

Virage - You'll have an acceptable 'rate' and they'll have a 'target'. No matter what the 'rate' they'll get to the 'target' ;)

Strange that Kian does not mention that Vandana Bharucha is the daughter-in-law of the managing partner, and wife of a Justin Bharucha, partner. So 5 Bharuchas in Bharucha & Partners! Blood indeed is thicker than everything else....

Whilst nobody is indispensable, VP's replacements at AMSS had some big shoes to fill. She'd be a great addition to any firm. She also worked at AMSS for many years after the Bharucha split. I would say blood is not that relevant here. I am also naive sometimes though.
