Majmudar & Partners equity partner and infrastructure and projects practice head Prashanth Sabeshan left the firm today to join AZB & Partners as a partner next week.
Sabeshan will be a partner in AZB’s banking and infrastructure practice in Bangalore.
He had joined Majmudar in Bangalore in February 2012, after an in-house stint in Singapore on a South Asian rail and infrastructure project, and was promoted into equity in the firm two months after joining.
He started his career at Amarchand after graduating from NLSIU Bangalore in 1997 and left in 2007, after becoming a partner at the firm, to join Freehills in Australia for one year as a senior associate, followed by one year at Norton Rose in Singapore. In 2009 he qualified as a solicitor of England and Wales.
Sabeshan was not available for comment, and AZB Mumbai region managing partner Zia Mody and Majmudar managing partner Akil Hirani did not respond to emails seeking comment.
Wadia Ghandy partner Vijay Sureka joined AZB this month as a senior associate, and AZB also hired Australian lawyer Fadi Metanios as a senior consultant in its competition, as the Mumbai firm’s first lateral partner and CEO Abhijit Joshi left to start his own entrepreneurial venture.
