Luthra senior partner Vijaya Rao goes part time

Luthra & Luthra Mumbai senior banking and finance partner Vijaya Rao is now an of counsel working part time with the firm.

Rao, who is a University of Pune 1990 alumnus, was one of the five partners who was offered a car by the firm in 2011, to recognise the additional responsibilities assigned to her in the Luthra partnership.

She has not been reachable for comment for several weeks, but it is understood that she has reduced her role at the firm for personal reasons.

Luthra senior partner Mohit Saraf and managing partner Rajiv Luthra did not respond to calls for comment but a spokesperson for the firm confirmed her new designation.

isn't this a downgrade/demotion ? From Partner to Retainer, or of counsel whatever that means!

It is mentioned she is becoming part time for personal reasons. Even Essaji Vahanvati went part time when he quit AZB did he not? Just because the title says part time or of counsel doesn't mean its a downgrade!

Vijaya is a gem of a person and probably the only face from Luthra in bbay apart from Manan.
Wish her the very best.
How is their IP practice doing? Anyone have any visibility?
