Luthra & Luthra has promoted three Delhi lawyers to partnership and will buy cars for five partners, as a raft of associates have been promoted to senior and managing associate levels.
Corporate managing associate Nivedita Tiwari in Delhi, finance managing associate Bikash Jhawar in Mumbai and litigation managing associate Sanjeev Kumar in Delhi have been promoted to the partnership.
Another 11 senior associates have been promoted to managing associate level, while six associates were elevated to the senior associate rung (see list below).
Meanwhile partners Sundeep Dudeja, Samir Dudhoria, Madhurima Mukherjee, Vijaya Rao and Sameen Vyas will be bought cars by the firm, each having the choice between ordering a BMW 3 Series, a Mercedes C Class or an Audi A4, managing partner Rajiv Luthra told Legally India.
“We spent the last two days deliberating growth strategies for the firm,” said Luthra, “and these five partners were identified to be given additional responsibilities keeping in line with the growth strategies.” The cars were a recognition of their additional responsibilities.
Luthra added that the plans to open up the firm’s equity as a lockstep model, which was first announced in June 2009 but has since been delayed, were discussed at a partners meeting over the weekend and would continue subject to details being finalised.
The firm also handed out internal awards at the 6 August Delhi meeting, which is an annual tradition.
Partners Alina Arora and Amaresh Singh and managing associate Vasudev Dibbur received the “beyond the call of duty” award, which Luthra explained was for carrying out projects that were not in their direct job description and aided growth of the firm, such as improving management or recovery systems and would receive iPad 2 tablet computers.
Managing associate Manmeet Singh was awarded the “managing partner solitaire award” for a significant achievement in his given area of work. Last year a Cartier watch was given to the recipient of the prize, said Luthra, although this year the actual prize was not yet decided.
Mumbai banking and projects partner Vijaya Rao and her team won the “team of the year” award and will be sent on a trip to Goa.

At the risk of stating the obvious, we don't get paid to write news stories.
FML has indeed been keeping a lower profile though for various reasons.
sour grapes..
Looks like this poster is a disgruntled associate / partner of Luthra. Sour grapes.
I was being sarcastic. Too bad your intellectual capacity is capable of understanding humour.
I find it absolutely amusing to say the least that individuals like Sundeep, Samir, Madhurima, Vijaya and Sameen, who are all otherwise quiet successful and ambitious, are happy to be relegated to an “employee (ahem, I choose not to use words like slave) status” by such gifts. Personally, I would want a piece of the actual pie and then to decide what I do with “my” money rather than be dependent on the benevolence of my master. I guess that is just me!
